Fixed your post for you. Look, cut the sour grapes crap, it makes the rest of us look bad. When a team whips you, it's always best to man up and admit it. Not whine about playing the starters too much. Used to hear the same crap when we'd kick Big 8 teams like K-State's ass in football back in the day. Let's keep our mouth shut until we get another crack at the....and beat them!!! Then, let's start talking. He isn't saying we didn't get our butts kicked. He is saying sans the first 15 minutes of the game..we beat them. Our starters beat theirs. No sour grapes... Your comment was off. Who won the game and by how many? Bradley Bradley Bradley.... You sound like you may have one or two sweater vests in your closet. I don't care who won. Go back to the thread the day of the game. Everything will be explained there. My only pint is that if we want to be big boys, we accept our successes and failures. That game in Omaha was an utter embarassment, to spin it any other way, or look for Norm's silver linings is small time and not what we need to be about anymore. Those days should be over. First off, my advice to you would be to rack up a few more than 13 posts on this board, in order to gain credibility, before calling out someone like Norm. He has earned his stripes and credibility on this board. As far as the Nebraska at Creighton game... I think it's pretty obvious that Nebraska isn't even the same team they were at that point of the season. These guys hadn't played many games together and were learning their roles. Im pretty sure that was Nebraska's first true road game. Nebraska ran into a buzzsaw at Creighton as they shot out of their minds in that game. They exploded from the opening tip and couldn't miss a shot. Nebraska is playing a completely different level of basketball right now. And Creighton isn't playing as well either. The only player on Creighton's team that is playing at that elite level is McDermott. Wragge isn't shooting out of his mind, which makes them more 1-dimensional. I would feel very confident in Nebraska if there was a rematch in the NCAA Tourney.

When was the switch from the old 1? Was that about a year ago? -
Has Washut or anyone floated any names out there that might be on Nebraska's radar?

Link Kabadyundi -> Texas Arlington
Nebrasketballer replied to BrasketballIfYouNeedThem's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I feel more confident in Nebraska's ability to take a Center that is a project and develop them, now that Kenya Hunter is on staff. This kid is obviously not the finished product by any stretch of the imagination. But 4-5 seasons of development under Hunter could be what he needs. He may never even get an offer, so it may be a non issue. I think Nebraska will obviously go after a Grad Transfer Center and that is obviously the best case scenario. Maybe Nebraska hits the jackpot and lands a Grad Transfer Center that can contribute right away. Then they can take Link as a development project...maybe even redshirt him for a season... -
So PG Ronnie Johnson will transfer from Purdue
Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Nothing to connect him to Nebraska (that I know of). We have just been talking about Nebraska's need for a PG, as well as wanting them to snag a transfer or two. Grad transfer would be best for Nebraska, because they wouldn't have to sit out a season, but he at least has 2 years of experience as a starting PG in the Big Ten conference, so he wouldn't need any time to adjust to the level of play. Just came across this, so I thought I would share. -
So PG Ronnie Johnson will transfer from Purdue
Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Two days after Purdue's season ended in the Big Ten tournament, the Boilermakers already have some roster fluctuation. Sophomore guard Ronnie Johnson is transferring from the school. “Ronnie has expressed his interest in transferring from our program and we have granted him his release,” head coach Matt Painter said. “We wish Ronnie the best of luck as he continues to pursue his education and basketball career.” Johnson, a 6-foot guard from Indianapolis, averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 assists this season. He started 31 games, but his production took a dip down the stretch. Purdue finished 15-17 on the season, losing seven straight to end the season. -
http://www.hammerandrails.com/2014/3/14/5509398/ronnie-johnson-to-transfer-from-purdue Well, there have been rumors about this, but I didn't expect things to move this quickly. It looks like sophomore point guard Ronnie Johnson will transfer from Purdue according to Chris Emma at Fox Sports. Ronnie has been a starter virtually from day one and has scored 697 points in just two seasons to go with 256 assists and 208 rebounds. He has averaged more than 10 points per game in his two seasons in West Lafayette. There have been rumors about this as early as just before the Big Ten season. Word has it he never saw eye-to-eye with coach Painter and one of the things I noticed is that he never seemed to truly trust anyone else on his team other than his brother, Terone Johnson. Still, he has been a steady scorer and a reliable free throw shooter, something Purdue has struggled with. Many were hoping that Terone's graduation would allow Ronnie to break out next season since he would have to rely more on anyone else. Perhaps Bryson Scott behind him and the recent recruitment of P.J. Thompson have something to do with this. I can't say I am surprised. There was just something off about Ronnie all year. It sucks that we're losing a good player and I can't understand why a starter averaging 10 points per game at a Big Ten school would transfer. This is not like Jacob Lawson, Donnie Hale, Sandi Marcius, or Anthony Johnson. Ronnie was getting more than enough playing time, so it has to be something between him and coach Painter. This makes a young Purdue team even younger next season with only 10 scholarship players, none of them seniors and only two as juniors. We're still awaiting word on the draft status of A.J. Hammons, too.

I agree. And that is what I perceived the point of this thread to be. I basically said the same thing in a previous post.

It's not "absolutely absurd"... Most refer to it as what it is, which is a play-in game.http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2014/03/09/usa-today-sports-ncaa-tournament-bracketology/6228743/

GTFO with that garbage. If a 1 seed can count a win over directional state college tech then a win over a BCS school that would also beat directional state should count just the same.An opinion isn't garbage just because its different than yours. So why don't you GTFO...You have your opinion and I have mine. Well considering the NCAA COUNTS it as a tournament win that means your opinion is in fact wrong. I mean if you enjoy being wrong then go for it. I prefer being right.If there is no debate, then there would be point to have this thread.I didn't interpret the topic to mean "Technically, according to the NCAA, does a play-in game count"...If that is the question, then there is no room for debate here. My understanding of the original post was something more along the lines of "Would it feel like there is an asterisk next to Nebraska's 1st ever NCAA Tourney win, if it came in a play-in game." So, I responded with my opinion...

Absolutely not! It's a "play-in" game. You "play" to get "in" to the tournament. Even though they call it the 1st round now, everyone knows that the round of 64 is the real 1st round. Just like the media has changed the terminology for Division 1AA / FCS and mid-major... They can call it whatever they want, but everyone knows what it really is. And the embarrassing thing is that Nebraska's Athletic department would promote/celebrate a play-in game win, like it is an actual tournament win. Just like they celebrated "Big 12 North Champs". That was a joke... Do you have any idea how much shit Creighton/Kansas/KState/Iowa/etc fans will talk, if the 1st "tourney" win that Nebraska celebrates isn't actually in the tourney, but in a play-in game. That will be brutal...

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/big-east-suspended-officials-tim-higgins-jim-burr-earl-walton-duties-sources-article-1.121381 The Big East suspends officials Jim Burr (l.), Tim Higgins (below) and Earl Walton (bottom) from their duties at the Big East Tournament for the remainder of the week, according to sources. By exiting as quickly as they left the court, the three officials who were involved in those puzzling no-calls in the final moments of St. John's 65-63 victory over Rutgers on Wednesday have stopped the controversy from overshadowing the entire Big East Tournament. The departure was not of their choosing. Sources told the Daily News that Big East commissioner John Marinatto - after consulting with his supervisor of officials Art Hyland - felt the league had no choice but to suspend Tim Higgins, Jim Burr and Earl Walton from officiating duties for the remainder of the week. The firestorm erupted when St. John's Justin Brownlee picked off a Rutgers pass with 4.9 seconds left, traveled, stepped out of bounds with 1.7 seconds to go and then hurled the ball into the stands with time still remaining. Hyland left the second game of the evening doubleheader Wednesday and went to the officials' hotel to inform them of the decision. No one objected. "They didn't want the incident to become bigger than the last three games of this tournament," a source said. Higgins even offered to write a press release acknowledging his accountability, and Burr and Walton both offered to sign off on it. But the league declined, and released a statement Thursday saying the three "voluntarily withdrew" for the rest of the tournament, choosing not to publicly flog the officials, possibly out of respect for time served or due to a long-standing relationship with Hyland. By doing this, the Big East saved any permanent marks on these officials' records, but also opened the door for coaches, fans and administrators to question who's driving the league's bus. One hypothesis: Would officials with less tenure and less-established ties have been shielded and given apparent absolution? There is plenty of speculation as to why a crew that embarrassed the league on national TV was treated with kid gloves. Marinatto sat with Burr and Walton in the stands at the afternoon session Thursday. Hyland was also there. All three declined to speak to the media, including ESPN, which had requested them before the nationally televised Connecticut-Pitt game. Marinatto said he was appreciative of the way coach Mike Rice and Rutgers handled a difficult situation. A commissioner's role is not to be the henchman for frustrated fans and Marinatto is much more like the original Big East commissioner Dave Gavitt, who preferred to settle problems internally rather than hold a public referendum. Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti, who earlier in the day said on WFAN that he had yet to speak with Marinatto other than exchanging text messages, said late Thursday he had spoken to the commissioner twice since. He obviously also chose to take the high road. "(Wednesday) night, there was so much chaos," Pernetti said. "To the conference's credit, Danny Gavitt (Big East assistant commissioner) and Art Hyland were down there immediately to give us an explanation. "We don't really have an opinion on the penalty. So what happened after (Wednesday) night was really a league issue. But as Mike (Rice) said earlier today, and I share it, I very much appreciate the willingness of the officials to be accountable. And, although a lot of people are stinging today in our community, I feel pretty positive that those guys feel terrible about what happened." It's unfortunate for college basketball that this became a major story line of the Big East Tournament. Although this was a mistake that exposed many of the imperfections of the game, it was not a conspiracy. Still, improvements need to be made. The real mistake would be not to take a closer look at how to improve the quality and performance of college basketball officials.

Just wondering if anyone knows where to find a link/site that has a list of potential grad transfers. Might be nice to see what's out there. Especially considering most of us would like to see Nebraska sign a grad transfer Center for next season. Obviously, there won't be a complete list until the season is completely done, but I figured there might be something out there now.
