Nebraska isn't a good fit for Tai's skillset
Red Don replied to Some_Fulla's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Tai was Good enough to be selected for the NZ Team! (besides I'd like to see him teach Miles the Hakka!) -
Twice In The Same Season At CenturyLink

What Does he have against Beatrice? -
I think the team will be just fine. Remember when Shavon was going through a big slump early last season? The team has just had a spate of bad luck so far this year; Leslee's torn ACL, Tarin's illness, Hammond's concussion, and Fuller's broken nose.

Twice In The Same Season At CenturyLink

I think that would be a good idea. Lots of fans to inaugrate their new venue! -
I see what you did there, Norm!

Finally get to see a game live at PBA
Red Don replied to emwilliams's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You're in for a real TREAT; in Both regards, emw. I was lucky enough to get a trip back to Lincoln last Febr; just had to go to the PBA to see what all the Hub-Bub was about (lucky enough to get seats, mid-court, Sec 219 for the Penn State Game). What a Time! What a Venue! Wish I lived close enough to go to all the games. You'll like the Haymarket! Post-game dinner at Lazlo's and just walking around (weather was cold, but still and quiet, with no wind). Love the lighted outdoor Bas-Relief on the North side of the old Amtrak terminal. Enjoy! -
We're known for (and emphasize Defense) so glad we were able to keep 'em under 60 (56),

5 Key Questions for 2014-15 Nebrasketball Season
Red Don replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I had thought Miles had made it pretty clear in his press conferences that he would rather red-shirt Hammond, but with Leslee Smith's injury he didn't think that would be an option; he'd be needed to play. If it's team over individual development, I'd think the player would have some say whether or not to red-shirt. It seems a rather moot point now, as the red shirt was burned in Sunday's game. -
#21 Nebraska (0-0) vs Northern Kentucky(0-1) Game Thread
Red Don replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I just watched the game on BTN and thought the student Announcers (Hunter Cave, pbp & Michael Dixon, analyst, both from UNL) did a very credible job. While not mistake-free, their coverage was good; they were on top of the game and the interactions between Miles, players & officials. Running commentary was smooth and informative without any awkward pauses, showing good knowledge about both teams. They obviously had done their homework. IMHO, not your dorm-quality improv. If you have it on DVR you may want to watch it again. Good Job, boys! -
Replay-Northern Kentucky at Nebraska
Red Don replied to emwilliams's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Thanks for the Heads-up emw, so I can set my dvr! (Can't miss the first game of the season!). I would have missed it since it's not televised live except for BTN Plus (subscription). -
Betting Odds for winning the National Championship...NU 100/1
Red Don replied to trickey's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
LOL! Well-played by FTM! -
Coach Miles is rapidly growing into "Classic" status indeed, if not already achieved!
-
I like AW III's fit with Nebraska as well: Coach Miles; and the other players on the team. He is not only an athlete, but a good student (think Shavon shields, pre-med, and others on the team). These may be some of the things that attracted him here in the first place. I like the way Swan88 described Miles interview on Sports Nightly: 'Andrew White and Terran Petteway go at it every day in practice--have a "brawl" every day.' We'll see how well he 'Shines' at Nebraska, both on and off the court!

Holy Moly! And don't forget Baseball (if you count the last NCAA ranking #30). NU had just dropped out of the top 25 in the Coaches Poll (was #22). Don't see Duke receiving votes in either poll. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/rankings/_/pollId/9/sportId/10031000

Noob here. Found this site thanks to one of your posters, HB; Post here because it is a great source of Nebraska BB information (and the community is welcoming). I'm a poster (and longer-time lurker) on another board, Husker Max. Football's my first interest, only really starting to follow Basketball after Tim Miles was hired (had never heard of him before; but, there is just something about him that grabs your attention, at least mine). I was getting frustrated by the paucity of BB information on HM (particularly during the off-season), wanting to learn more about Basketball, not knowing much about about the game (come to think about it, don't know a lot about Football either! ) Amazed at what Miles has been able to accomplish in such a short time at Nebraska. I was lucky enough to make a trip back to Lincoln last February and had to go to a game at the new PBA (vs. Penn State @ 'The Vault') to find out what all the hub-bub was about. Great Trip, Great Venue, Great Atmosphere, Great Game (we won)! The future for Nebraska Basketball is bright, indeed! Go Big Red!

Another reason Rhode Island may have been scheduled
Red Don replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think the OP and Donkey are right! Tim Miles does seem like an 'under the radar' type, at least as far as recruiting/staffing goes. He seems very quiet (but very effective) and goes out of his way not to feed the rumor/speculation mill, announcing changes/recruits only after it is a 'fait accompli.'
