  1. 6'8 freshman-- was a 3 star 13 min 2.9 PPG- 2.4 RPG Probably goes somewhere smaller.
  2. Honestly, I don't think he seems all that raw. There are some things I think he can polish up, but for a HS kid, he's pretty skilled. ESPECIALLY for a guy his size. Look at some of those videos that have been posted. These are more than just highlight films. I mean, they are highlight films but they're extensive and not just half second snippets of the kid's greatest plays of the year. You'll see basically ever basket he scored in entire games and the footage of each sequence ends up being up to several seconds long so you get a pretty good picture of how active he is, etc. There were several instances where he was out leading the break in transition on the dribble, defender tries to stop the ball (him) and he does a spin dribble to a layup. I mean, that's pretty good skill even for a 6'2" kid. You might hope to see a Johnny Trueblood be able to execute that move without travelling. But Edwards is 6'9". He's got very good agility, as I've mentioned a number of times, so I'm hesitant to continue to say it, but since you asked ... He has a very deft shooting touch around the basket. Look at the way he uses the backboard. That can be taught, but for him it seems intuitive. Not all shots for a post are going to be dunks at the next level. He has good size, he has good muscle structure and frame, which means he'll be able to add weight. I mean, what's not to like? The only thing that I kinda sorta question about him is that on the offensive side, when he gets the ball down low, he seems to want to finesse things a bit too much instead of going up strong. He's trying to fade away on his shots and avoid contact and I don't think he needs to do that. But that can be coached up pretty readily. Yes, I think this kid would see minutes and I think he'd see them right away. Depth or no depth. My money would be on him being in the top 8 in the rotation for sure. Possibly starting depending on how much Jacob Hammond improves during the off-season. That is exactly what i was looking for. I watched his tape... Wasnt as impressed as you were, but no doubt he is athletic.
  3. Bummer he wont be here for the Spring game.
  4. Question for our recruiting guys... Any chance this kid can see the court his freshman year? He seems raw(not a bad thing) Just more curious.
  5. Too bad they didn't block Michigan State. "You can go to any Power 5 school that wears red and white and has a contract with ADIDAS but only those that haven't played in the Final 4 in the last twenty-five years." That would about cover it, I think. Thankfully they specifically blocked NC state.. because they fit that demographic. Typically when schools block a series of semi-random schools, these are either future or potential future opponents. The Big 12 has a Big 12 vs SEC challenge, for instance. or because they just like to screw with peoples heads. You can only go to Colorado... HAHAAHAHA

  7. There it is.. The dumbest thing i have read all day.
  8. MY guess is he is still gone. Hope i am wrong.
  9. TP has a lot on his mind right now. Take care of your mom.
  10. Big men have been tough for us to get lately. Not picky if we can get a guy who can rebound and hopefully has some down low moves. Rivers could rebound but was undersized and didnt have any down low moves. I agree that we knew we would have at least 1 spot open, but i still think they were caught slightly off guard that all 3 are leaving(waiting on official word from TP). With 3 spots open, the question is where do we go with them. I dont mind the 1 and done because it fills needs we have now and then we can spend a whole year recruiting for that schollie when it opens back up. I like the idea of getting Edwards, a Juco/grad big and then adding a Juco PG. One of my big concerns with Morrow and Watson is throwing them in to the fray without time to get use to the college game because we have such a need. Adding a guy like the providence transfer or brown transfer at least allows us to get Morrow action the right way. Same thing with adding depth at PG. To your original point, it doesnt seem like we are connected to a lot of names, but that could be something we are keeping quiet or we knew the feeding frenzy starts after the tournament.... might be waiting to see if more kids transfer.
  11. He's definitely less of a man than Almeida if you're going by physical mass I saw Andre at Hyvee once. He was wearing shorts and a wife beater.... I was terrified... Dude wasnt as chunky as i thought.. He was a large man.
  12. a rebounding machine with some size.... Fine, ill bite.
  13. I am still attempting that.
  14. Ya.. He was just a goofy guy, but he actually played like a big. He had some low post moves. I think two things that would really help this team was someone who could shoot and someone who could post up. Sadly, that might not matter because this team will look very different without TP.
  15. Bummer. Anyone who thinks we are better without TP doesnt know basketball, but maybe this can help with more of a team style game.. i dont know. I wish TP all the luck in the world, but he is a mid second rounder at best.
  16. Dakota was a year older than me... Football player--class clown. Didnt know Joe Jensen. Maple Grove has a few pretty good basketball players and they were starting most of them 2 years ago as Sophomores.
  17. At the end of the day, I blame Jorge Brian Diaz
  18. I also think saying the reason we sucked was because Gallegos left is laughable. It might have been a factor, but i just think mentality changed and the "Fight" and chip on our shoulder went away.
  19. Harris stats for 2013-14 from the official Provedence site (can't find the 2014-15 there yet) compared to this year's stats for Walter are: Harris shot .433 from the field--136 of 314 (Walter shot .378--82 of 217); Harris shot .322 from three--29 of 90 (Walter shot .289--37 of 128); Harris shot .839 from the line--104 of 124 (Walt shot .485--16 of 33); Harris had 5.1 rebounds per game--76 off., 103 def., 179 total (Walter had 4.6 per game--29 off., 108 def., 137 total); Harris had 11.6 points per game (Walt had 7.2); Harris had 49 total assists (Walt had 14); Harris had 34 steals (Walt had 10); and Harris had 75 turnovers (Walt had 33). There may be similarities, but free throw percentage differences are dramatic. Also, differences in offensive rebounds, assists, steals, and numbers of free throws and shots from the field attempted suggest that Harris is a much more active and engaged player on the inside. The only stat comparison significantly in Walt's favor is turnovers--but that probably reflects the same difference in activity and engagement on the inside. Can we make it a rule that we can only compare potential transfers to WP's 2013-14 stats? And we only allow people to transfer if they have a cool nickname to shout when they hit a 3? TH...FOOORRR THRREEEE.... Doesnt work... NEXT!
  20. Love what you have to say... Here is the thing with guys like Benny Parker and David Rivers(sad to lose his hustle) They played hard and understood there role. They didnt need to score points to help the team and they were ok with that. That is what we need out of these guys. Understand your role on this team and work 100% within yourself. Tai Webster did that near the end. He wants to be the stud on this team.. He wants to be the guy people chant his name and so he tried so hard to be that guy by scoring a lot of points... All of a sudden, he realizes(probably via being benched) that he isnt that player... He started working hard on the defensive side.. he ran the plays hard and worked harder without the ball in his hands... All of a sudden he started hitting open shots.. he started making free throws... Tai's character was tested and the kid fough tooth and nail and I have to say i am ecstatic because he will be a leader on this team for the next couple years. No he probably wont be the player we had hoped he would be, but he is becoming a leader. That is the type of guys I want. If Tarin Smith didnt like his place on the depth chart, and left becaus eof it...then good riddance. We have multiple guys who know if they dont go balls to the walls they wont play... I hope that we keep adding guys with motors like that. I want to see Hammond do that.. just go all out kid.. make them play you. And we are adding 4 good kids, and hopefully those 4 have the motor to push themselves...
  21. TP leaving would suck, but wouldnt come out of the blue. Anymore out of the blue will have me a bit concerned. If fuller left i wouldnt cry and he is the only other guy i see possibly leaving. Tarin Smith was out of left field, but hey, if he isnt a fan of competition(Watson) coming in, then I dont want guys who arent willing to fight for their spot(if that is the reason he left).
  22. Reed doesnt have great touch and not sure if he is a B1G talent. He plays alongside Brad Davison--who is highly talented. As i mentioned in brads thread, this is my alma-mater. I am going to try and hit up a few games next year. Maple grove plays top talent in MN but MN talent is hit/miss.
  23. I would assume Pitch leaving helps are chances of keeping TP. I get the feeling TP was not a big fan of Pitchfords work ethic. That is an assumption.
  24. I dont like quitting but if his heart wasnt in it, and he knew he was only hurting the team, at least he was man enough to step away so they could use his spot for someone else.
  25. Bummed to see how far he fell this year. He just didnt ever seem that interested in it. I am happy he realizes this and is moving on as to not hurt the team. I also think this bodes well for Petteway being back. I dont think him and pitch were on good terms.
