38-27 at the Half!   Lady lions seem to be running out of gas!

Yea....think Connie's is using lots of subs to do a couple of things.

Wear out P S ....and save our starters for 4th qtr. We ran out of gas a bit at Rutgers.

Nice to see Washington in...she did OK. Like said, the stationary foul called was a foul. ??? Needs to play more...she's not comfortable out there.

Kalenta is doing good stuff...she hustles.  Nat's getting free...hope that continues.

Washington has decent ball skills and she runs the floor pretty well.  Get her healthy and play more, and she will help the team. Looks real rusty, but can move around the basket. Scored 5 pts I think.

Anya 14 pt 11 rebounds ...double double !   ......Maddie is getting back to form. Nice game.

Very good off the ball play overall , getting open for assist shots. Saw some new plays where Nat or RT will set a screen (on a big) near the foul line, then break to the arc for 3 pt. shots. Back door plays worked.

Penn State just isn't very good. Not shooters overall. They switched back and forth with man and zone defense...didn't help them.  The don't seem to have an offensive plan.

Move on to Indiana....need that one for RPI, and B1G run.

Fun game.   Worth braving the elements to attend.  Small crowd.  We must be joining those who have imaginative counts; no way there were 4500 there as stated in the post game show.

Nice games by numerous players.  Cincore and Kalenta were very active off the bench.  Clark is an excellent defender. She gets as much out of her size and athleticism as any guard I've seen in a long time.  She just knows how to play defense.

Rachel B in a boot on the left foot.  Here's to quick healing.

Oh yes Clarke is, and some were saying early in the year that she was such a liability without her D who knows where this team would be. I'm wanting to see how many people Purdue say they had at their game tonight as well. I'm guessing they will say 6000 when it looked about like what the Huskers had tonight. tonight box score has 4486 as butts in the seats.

Once the Huskers got the offense to start functioning like they've been practicing, PSU had trouble defensively the rest of the game. PSU really struggled in both their man and zone defenses. They're not use to having to double team Jess underneath and have a player in Natalie's face the whole game and it caused a lot of confusion for them. The Huskers caught them napping in their zone defense and as a result they gave up a whole lot of baseline plays and the Huskers didn't fail to take advantage of that. PSU looked out of sync basically the whole game.

Tied with Purdue now for one of those coveted top four spots of the conference. It's ours now since we have the tie breaker with them, knock on wood we don't loose that spot.

Great to see Darrian Washington on the court. The kid needs more time out there and she'll become an nice asset to have coming in off the bench. A Kalenta with a good game for not playing too much in conference play. Thought Jessica had a quiet 20 tonight with really nice reverse layup in the third period.

Natalie is Natalie so glad she's on our team. Really like to watch that girl come off screens and work to get herself open with a defender up in her grill. Her defensive game has improved so much that I think it's a toss between her and Kyndal Clark as to which of these is our best defender. That's really a nice problem to have. Could have been one of Rachel Theriot's best efforts of the year! Even little Emily Wood saw the court for a few minutes.

Jasmine started out forcing things but settled down and started to play within the offense and became very productive out there. Most minutes by Maddie since before her injury. Had the Huskers converted on the bunnies they missed they'd had hit the century mark.

I figured there were around 1800 - 2000 fans. Had to watch the replay just to hear what Matt Davison sounded like. I thought he did a really good job. By the way this was the fastest ever in and out of the parking garage, well, since ever.

Anya gets tonight's game ball with just her hustle and play making.

absolutely agree!!!

good to see coach yori use the bench. maddie missed a couple three's, but, she had a couple nice drives to the basket. that was very encouraging. washington looks like she could give some good minutes off the bench now.

does nat ever get tired?   :)

coach washington sure doesn't look like the washington of past. still chompin' on the gum, though.

listened to sports nightly segment before game. greg sharp was talking about psu and mentioned when you talk to "insiders" at psu, they mention the sandusky scandal has hurt other programs---more than you might realize (as far as getting recruits). maybe we are seeing a bit of that with this wbb squad. although, page was a good get.

noticed a couple shots of burns-------looks a little more "chipper". good to see. hoping to see her on the floor again, sooner rather than later!

I have a question for those more 'in-the-know' than me, but I've wondered all year why Kalenta doesn't get more playing time.  It seems when she gets some minutes, she hustles and puts up decent stats.

Doesn't practice well?

Doesn't play good defense?

Not productive against the better competition from teams better than PSU?

Doesn't fit the system Yori wants to run?

Nagging injuries?

Just not as good as the other players at the position?

I suppose it's a combination of some or all of those.

Just curious - she seems to be a pretty decent player that could give the starters more of a blow, which, IMO, seems to be a perennial problem for Yori's teams - 3-4 players often go several games in a row playing 36-40 minutes and simply get worn down.
