I love to watch Natalie Romeo play this game. Even though she wound up with 10 points I think that's the best she has played defensively since she's put on the scarlet and cream. Good job NR-5!!

Jessica continues to improve and just gets harder to stop with each game she plays. She looked good defensively too. Our young ones just need to get more experience. Hopefully they can get more minutes next Wednesday at Penn St.

Hopefully Rachel T snapped out of the little shooting slump she seemed to be in. The Huskers are hard to beat when she's on the top of her game!

Way to many turnovers mostly on bad passes.

Thought Nat's defense on Simmons was one of the keys to the win......Nat was on her like glue the whole game.

Jess probably played her best game this year. Of course her stats were unreal, but her (and whole team) was much more wired into the job at hand, and not to be denied. Yori seems to have started a fire this week in practice.

Bad passes are still a killer. Cut our turnovers in half today, and we win by 10-12 more.

Nice recovery for the women. Very good play...couple of miscues here and there, but they looked like they were enjoying playing again.

reduce those to's and it's a pretty darn good performance by the huskers. got lazy with a few of those passes. next big step is to go to Penn St and come out with a win.

i noticed coach yori followed RB43 down and back up the bench when she took her out after mishandling a pass from theriot. don't think she was asking her "how's the knee?"    :D

Most interesting note from the TV broadcast:

On the TV shown game, the announcers said Maddie broke her elbow......get this....falling out of bed (possibly a bunk bed)

That had been the rumor for awhile, but no one would confirm that is what had happened.

Interesting.  I know another freshman athlete that fell out of her bunk and suffered a bad concussion first semester.  Those things are dangerous!

My son is good friends with a kid thatnwent to School with Maddie. He told my son right after it happened thatnshe had fallen out of a raised bed. Remember how you did that in the dorms so that you could have more room.

I also know that Peru State doesn't allow raised beds but will give students the material to make bunk beds that aren't too high.

I thought the same thing during the Cal game!  I haven't gone back to look at the stats, but I recall a lot of turnovers and tipped passes during that game.  Not to take away anything from the Cal Gals; they Were very athletic, but it seemed Husker Ladies were just a little bit 'off' their game.  Notwithstanding, we did take Cal to OT.  Take away the TO's and tips and we win that game, even without having to go to OT.

The thing with those beds is that they are so narrow.  If you are used to sleeping in a full or a queen and then move into that skinny college bed, it can be easy to fall out since you are used to being able to have some room to move around.  The lofts I have seen are adjustable so you can be pretty close to the ceiling (too close in my opinion, I'm claustrophobic), or normal bed height, and then everything in between.  A lot of kids put them up pretty high so they can have a futon and a fridge underneath since the traditional dorm rooms are so small.  I am surprised NU doesn't put the athletes in the apartment style dorms like other colleges do.  Those usually have one person per bedroom and then a shared common space and bathroom.  No need to have a loft since you have the bedroom all to yourself.

Quite a bit of chatter recently about turn overs from bad passes.  There has been a lot of them for a C. Yori coached team and I'm sure she will get that straightened out.  A couple of things to remember.

1.  We talk a lot about the four year starters that graduated and how well they played together especially in the area of passing the ball and finding the open player.  The problem is we remember them as seniors and forget about their freshman days.  Upon reflecting back I remember a young Laudermill playing out of control making a lot of bad passes at times but improving each year.  the same can be said for the others.

2.  We are obviously playing a different offense trying to get the ball inside more to a great post player but at times we tend to try to force it in.  The efficiency will continue to improve as players get used to each other and understanding when and where the receiving player wants and can catch the ball.
