I guess if you can't play with the other team, you resort to WWA tactics. ...according to the N Ariz coach apparently.

And we weren't to focused in the first half. Simply got beat defensively many times. Read to many of our own press clippings maybe. Or had finals hangover.

Anyway we woke up in second half and found our energy. We're still shooting about 45-48%...will win lots more games if we can keep that up.

35 by Jess...SUPER ! ...she seemed to be a little more out from the basket....sometimes gets to far under the basket...anyway she produced big time.

Nat is a warrior...dripping blood everywhere, and comes back into game. Seemed a little off of her game afterwards, bit she is a wonder woman.

Now is the time to pick up the energy, for the next 20 games or so. No more 1st half's like this one can happen again.

Nice comeback,,,way to suck it up and react with toughness.

Not sure if your kidding or not......but my comment was sarcasm. ...a joke so to speak.  It was a result of all the "stuff" N. Az did .....particularly in the first half. Hey.....they got a T because of it.  Jess was pushed out of bounds more than once.

In seriousness...a team usually doesn't play like that without some influence by someone on the staff.     On the other side ...a coach should stop your own team from the "unnecessary roughness"

One player who wasn't mentioned much but had a great game was A. Kalenta.  7 pts, 14 rebounds and great defense.  Kept us in the game earlier.

Kalenta,  finished with seven points and career highs of 14 rebounds and three blocks...... had four points & had eight rebounds and a block in the decisive third quarter.

Wow has she improved....I think Connie said she had anemia last season....so explains a lot about last year.

If we ever needed to change up the defense, this afternoon was the time to do it. We got beat on that back door cut way too many times.

Opposing teams know that the objective is to get Jess the ball down underneath, so they double and triple team her knowing that we're going to go to her. And as a result she just gets clobbered under there practically everytime the ball goes in there. And teams are going to keep fouling her if she can't shoot her free throws any better than she is now.

So glad Darrian got to play even if it was for 25 seconds and twice up and down the court. Anya fought her butt off and had good numbers to show for it. Natalie is a trooper finishing with 10 big dimes, I really, like to watch that kid play! Props to Jessica for setting the new freshman scoring record!

They need to take the whistle away from Ann Schroeder and inform her she will never referee a game in PBA again.

Red Don the board police if they're still around will eventually come out and call you out when you call the Huskers "Lady Huskers" I found that out many years ago.

Pretty good numbers for attendance (4475) despite Omaha taking a lot of the fans away.

Hope we get RB43 back in time for Monday night, we're going to need her. Arkansas St is a pretty good team.

Couple of small items.

Have you guys noticed, when down low, Jess shoots left handed when on the left side of basket, and right handed on the right side of basket.

Our bounce passes are too low to bigs inside....big's should always get passes above the waist....In general terms...bigs play above the waist, and guards play lower usually. Bigs play more straight up positioning. Just the nature of the physical traits that effect the way they play, and partly at least why we have so many turnovers on bounce passes.  Preferably passes to the inside would be about head high.  Not a big deal, but makes it easier for the big's.

Watched some replay...

I think it was #21 (N Az) (I think or 22) that when it was dead ball and before a foul shot, 21 walked by Jess and bumped Jess, and almost elbowing Jess in the stomach.....on a dead ball.

And.....N Az didn't score the last approx. 3 1/2 minutes.

On to the next one, which will be the beginning of tough games...from here on out.

I have noticed that, I thought that maybe she was a wrong arm but on her free throws she shoots right handed. as for the low passes they have to be low wit three players hanging like ape from trees on you.

The NAU bigs had two fouls a piece in the first three minutes of the game, they didn't foul out until 3 minutes left in the game really you tell me what changed. I guess if you don't like it you better quit going to the games because that's going to be the MO.  One time they pulled Jess out of bounds by her shorts untucking her jersey and that's not foul. Sorry for this rant but the guy behind called jess lazy on one play were she had got knocked to the floor, NAU had a break away jess's man got the bucket and say jess you beat.

I noticed on more than one occasion that when NAU had the ball underneath the basket they would hook whomever was defending them and get the bucket. A foul was never called (at least when I saw it happen). Also, it looked like when NAU called the time out during the floor scrum that Jess had her hands on the ball for the tie up, but NAU was awarded the time out. Just poor overall for the refs.

That said, I love the grit in this team. I do like that they have had to come from behind a few times and pull out the win with CU and NAU. We also managed to do that without RB43 yesterday, which I was really nervous about. Wish the Cal game had gone in our favor, but the fact they hung in there to force OT on the road against a ranked team while we had foul trouble is something that will help our young players.

A warm welcome to the national champion joining the team on Monday!!

here is how you defend the back cut, and if you go to a But with the manzone you have the problem of giving up offensive rebounds and with good ball movement three ball. If the zone is such a great defense why don't more college coaches run it?

not sure exactly when it was, either just before season or shortly after ooc began, i heard coach yori state anya battled an injury and an illness last season but didn't specify the problem. great to see she has been very productive coming off the "chair".

not sure what to think of KC. starting to see a trend---while a very important part of the product, i am not sure she is going to be the scorer some thought she would be (including myself). she may have a few games where she goes off, but, i am not sure she is gonna be as productive (re: scoring) as hoped. don't know if it's the injury, which, in my view doesn't seem to be bothering her---at least at gametime. maybe it's that she doesn't feel she needs to be the scorer. i really questioned whether the knee would hold up game in and game out, and thought it was possible she may have to give the knee a break here and there. seems to be holding up very well. hope the regular season goes as well as the ooc.

and, btw, i just wonder the outcome of some things had RB43 been in there banging?  :o  ;)

The problem with this theory is that waist high bounce passes will be stolen the great majority of the time.  You either have to handle the low passes or not make them.  Over the top passes are probably the best but Kyndal tried one yesterday and got it swatted back at her.  Getting the ball to your post with a chance for her to do something with it is a real art.
