jimmykc Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Since the Creighton game is now officially "the next one", I will broach a topic which is like the elephant in the room, with McDermott looming like the 500 pound gorilla doing anything he wants just around our corner. There, I've used up all of my animal cliche's now. But really honestly, I do not know how I will pick on this one, since both teams seem to be flawed this year. For those who haven't read "Nebrasketball" I will point out that Miles followed McD at North Dakota State, and their coaching rivalries stretch from Wayne St/SW Minn St., through ISU/ND State to Creighton/NU. So far the count stands 11-0 in favor of McDermott. I'm sure this weighs heavily on someone as competitive as Tim Miles, and is beginning to approach one of those self perpetuating "jinxes" that turn up in sports. Does anyone have a strong feeling that this year the streak will not reach an even dozen? Quote
Norm Peterson Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Is this a poll? Jimmy, you could have joined Red Don and me in the poll club. Red Don 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Second question: when you speak of self-perpetuating jinxes, are you suggesting that McDermott is Miles' Barry Switzer? If so, my answer to your poll question is: Wednesday night, we are going to party like it's 1978. Kent Pavelka 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted December 6, 2015 Author Report Posted December 6, 2015 They are just too hard for me to do and still get ready for Mass on time. Just mark me as "undecided" for the present. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Since I went to Mass Saturday evening, I can honestly opine that we win this game. Quote

Although some have said Miles will beat McDermott when pigs fly, I don't think you look a gift horse in the mouth and think it's a bad thing for the Huskers that CU comes into this game having lost their previous two. Confidence can sometimes be slippery as an eel when you're trying to grab it. My prediction is the sweater vests will be quiet as a church mouse at game's end when Nebraska leaves the Clink with a victory. jimmykc Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 Cip, you have successfully bearded the lion and are now sitting firmly on the catbird's seat as king of the animal cliche's. Quote
jimmykc Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 As I interpret the thread the poll would read 4 to win and now one to lose as I invoke the reverse jinx. Quote
Red Rum Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 I don't know you guys, if you try hard enough you can use animal clichés until the cows come home. Bugeaters1 and 49r 2 Quote
49r Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 jimmy, it seems to me that many of us are putting the cart before the horse here. We need to get all our ducks in a row and not count our chickens before they hatch. Remember, the early bird gets the worm, so we really need to bear down and keep our nose to the grindstone (not an animal cliché but, still). Let's be sure that early bird is red, not blue! how'd I do? Red Don, Bugeaters1 and Red Rum 3 Quote
