Makes you wonder.....

Are some schools like the SEC, where the coach says you'll never play here, so what do you want to do?

To lose 4 in one year...????....are they not getting to play at all?

The school they're playing for, must mean nothing to them.....just getting to play more is the priority.

Don't like the coach?

What ever happened to grow up, toughen up, and get better if you aren't playing as much as you want.

Sad thing, it is happening outside of the sports arena also.  As a small business owner, I see it with young employees also. Instant gratification required, things that would be a speed  bump for us become giant walls.  Move on if we aren't told how wonderful we are each day, and what can you do for ME?

So, in addition to rankings and recruiting services, parents must be getting the kids' perspective out of whack also.

What's the story on the girl, any more than she is just transferring?

I guess I can see how a school with a new coach might lose a lot of kids to transfer the first year or so, so I can give Minnesota a bit of a pass.  But Indiana strikes me as odd, and Jacqui Grant leaving Illinois still seems strange to me.  DePaul is way better for basketball, better tradition, better coach, and opportunities for post season play.  It's not like she's leaving a good basketball school where she didn't get playing time and then going somewhere less competitive.  Exactly the opposite.

Does Minnesota really only have 1 player coming in next year and losing 5? Are they going to have tryouts for their team? Either way with Banham and Zauhi B they will be good no matter who else is on the team.

believe minny will have 1 freshman incoming, and 2 jucos. they also have allina starr transferring from auburn. 5'9" guard. she is already in school and i think she is eligible for next year's big ten season (not ooc). she has 3yrs of eligibility. i also think the one's that are leaving are Borton recruits. so, not too shocking that many have left. don't think it's Stollings so much, as it seems they are really on board with her. you would hope the new coach didn't run them out, though. i still think minny is going to be pretty tough next season---as long as banham returns as banham.

a little more info: juco Kynadi Johnson, 6'1" Forward from ButlerCC avg 3pts per game. played hs ball in Dallas.

juco Keyondra Jenkins 5'6" guard chose minny over arizona, michigan state, and west virginia. averaged 16pts, 4.6 assists, and 3 steals.

the freshman is from canada and had a 4* rating. believe she is a 6'1" wing.

Row, what's going on at Indiana?   Didn't Brooks start and play big minutes?   I don't understand the world anymore.

It's their new coach from what I can gather. She has her way of doing things and if you want to play you do it my way. Remember all those Hoosiers that are transferring were recruited by previous IU head coach Kurt Miller before he mysteriously had to resign last summer.

Has anyone ever heard what the deal was with former Indiana coach?

Not sure, but just ran across this:  http://www.idsnews.com/article/2015/03/former-iu-miller-coach-a-candidate-for-wnba-job

Here's another interesting piece on the situation at Indiana.

And the reaction to all of the player departures from first-year head coach Teri Moren?

"I don't think it hurts (the program's momentum)," she said. "Certainly, we wish the three of them the best, and wherever Larryn goes, she is going to be a fantastic player.

"I'd much rather talk about the players that are going to return, and we have everyone returning as far as starters except for Larryn, but I think the future is really bright. ... We are working hard and smart to get players that want to come here and play here."

But those who are gone certainly wanted to be in Bloomington at one time, so what changed?

Start with the environment that was or was not fostered in the transition from former coach Curt Miller to Moren.

Under the circumstances, a warm, welcoming environment designed to build trust and cohesion with a team coming off a school-record tying 21 wins would be expected. There was a baseline of chemistry already at work, simply waiting for the incoming freshmen to be integrated.

It didn't happen.

But IU compounded its dilemma with the decision to hire a person as diametrically opposed to Miller as possible in almost every way except their love for the game of basketball.

Where he was flamboyant, she is reserved.

Where he emphasized offense, she emphasizes defense.

Where he had a foot in the door with elite recruits, she gets a shrug of the shoulders

The word has kind of been out for a while."

And that word is that Moren is going to build the IU program her way. Those that don't like it are free to hit the highway.

Here's another article on the Indiana fallout.

"They want to play in a different system, and that's fine. There are going to be a lot of great players that are going to trust us and they are going to want to play in our system, which is based off of defending and rebounding."

While Moren wouldn't pinpoint specific issues from inside the locker room, saying those details should be "left inside with the family," she did hint at the complexities of whatever occurred behind the scenes, compounded by the odd timing of her arrival.

After just one season sounds like the fans and media have began to wonder about this new hire.

Something's up at Indiana, and I think the new coach is caught in the middle of it.

AAU coaches just flinging her under the bus, and reporters being comfortable with that, is rare. I mean, these coaches are basically screaming: None of my girls are playing for you. I'm stunned they'd feel the latitude to do that.

Unpack this for me. Do you agree with this worldview, say, in the workplace? Should a person stay in a job where they don't like their boss when the same job across town -- with a boss who wants them -- is open?

I can see a lot of turnover when a new coach and staff are brought in.  Hard for me to fault some of the younger kids for transferring when that happens.  And if they want to leave, the school should not stop them (eg. KSU).  I also find it hard to fault a kid if they are just plain homesick, or if there are other family issues (like illness or death, not the kind where daddy thinks you should be getting more playing time).

I have poked around numerous message boards trying to figure out what went down at Indiana.  I've found a few that have made reference to an impending lawsuit, but it is vague and I can't figure who is suing.

A lot of the turnover does make sense with new coaches, but I still have trouble understanding the dynamic with Laryn Brooks, who played 35 minutes a game with good success.  Will be interesting to see how Indiana and Minnesota do over time as the coaches assemble teams with their own recruits.  At Minny, the new coach certainly inherited a lot of talent.

It's something with the former coach and the players' loyalty to him and who knows what. Something beyond the basketball court, I suspect.

Another transfer for Penn St.

Jenny DeGraaf appears to be leaving the Penn State women’s basketball program.

The 6-foot-1 guard/forward played in 29 of the Lady Lions’ 30 games this past season, starting one. She averaged 3.9 points per game as she played a career-high 460 minutes. She was third on the team with nine 3-pointers and averaged 2.3 rebounds per game.
