whoopdeedoo Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 minny wins in 2OT. AZB 27 pts 27 rebounds. she is just a beast. would have to believe she is up for national player of the year, not to mention big ten player of the year. opposing teams have their handful for the next 2yrs not with just her, but, minny is going to be good. wagner (fr) is the real deal and if banham comes back full strength from knee surgery, holy cow. i would think pollsters will put them right behind Maryland for next year. btw, i don't care if Maryland goes undefeated, imo AZB would still beat out anyone on the Maryland team for big ten player of the year. redsteve Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 ILL beat Purdue by one. White had 14 pts & 10 reb Quote
Fastbreaker Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 I agree Zuhui is a good player but she never ventures more than 6 inches from the hoop. Anyone her size would get tons of rebounds staying that close. How many more would Emily ave playing the same way. And other than rebounding and shooting 2" layups what else does she have. Her defense is very average. Michigan women scored a lot of points in the paint today. As far as National player of the year, I would take Bri Stewart any day of the week over Zuhui Quote

If Emily played "the same way" it would work nothing like it does for B because Emily is WAY smaller. Not even a remotely apt comparison. Quote
huskerchode Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 I've seen her knock down some 3s. She's 6-19 from three point range on the season. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 She's the main reason Minnesota is sitting in fourth place right now. She made a crucial three pointer this afternoon to help beat Michigan. Her weakness is that she's foul prone, you have to go right at her and get her to foul and get her on the bench. As for national player of the year Jewel Loyd of Notre Dame has my vote. Quote

Row6Seat10 Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Who's watching this Ohio St/Iowa game? If you want all offense and very little defense it's your game. OSU's up by 4 with 15 minutes to go 60-56. Quote

HB Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Once again, defense optional for Iowa. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Noah121 Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 And I'm guessing that Iowa is not putting up the video game numbers that they did from long range against OSU like they did to Northwestern. Quote

redsteve Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Once again, defense optional for Iowa. And it will cost them. Last time I looked OSU was ahead by almost 20....OSU was shooting the eyes out of the basket, and simply was lots more athletic than Iowa....and ran Iowa pretty much out of the gym....Iowa looked real frustrated. just checked the score 100-82 ...OSU Quote

whoopdeedoo Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 don't believe i stated AZB would be national player of the year, just that she would get consideration. unless she tanks the last few games, i believe she has a great shot at being Big Ten POTY. 4th in scoring 18.6 1st in rebounds 12.7 5th in FG % .55 12th in FT% .76 1st in blocked shots 3.9 3rd off reb 3.6 1st in def reb 9.1 pretty impressive #'s for a sophomore i really think the # of coach's that wouldn't like to have her at the post would be very, very small. and, yes, watch out for OSU. afraid they are going to be really good for awhile. i think next year's top 3 to start the year will be Maryland, Minny, and OSU. huskerchode Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 I read on ESPN last night that since she turns 22 this year she will be eligible for the WNBA draft. Same with Jewel Loyd. I doubt they go, though, but maybe we could encourage AZB to go? Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 ahhhhh. maybe she will be around only 1 more year. i would think she would come back for next year since rachel banham decided she would return. if minny hits on all cylinders for most of next year, could be special. still think maryland will repeat, but, wouldn't surprise me to see minny make a deep run in ncaa's.
