trickey Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Erick appearred to be involved in recruiting Tai tonight...Have I missed something that connects him currently as an employee of the University? I realize he interviewed as a potential coach and was not hired. Did he get an administrative post later...or was he just a former impressive Husker helping out? Thanks, Erick either way. Quote
HuskerActuary Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Could be wrong but I think he was just helping out. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Perhaps something is in the works (rumor monger) that we are not aware of (rumor monger). We do have an empty spot on the staff...by the way, someone please buy Erick a red shirt!!! Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Handy Johnson Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 He should have shown up in his old Vancouver jersey if he wanted some major street cred. Quote
BannedAccount Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't there some rule about ex players helping with recruiting or is that just in football? Quote

dskurz Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I saw Strickland a few times go up to the scorers table to grab the stat sheets that get handed around to the coaches & media types. Something tells me him coaching at Bellevue West this year is for him to get a little experience before joining the staff as well. Quote

That's my alma mater. Quote
HuskerFever Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I think Miles is aware that Strickland can provide some strengths that Miles himself cannot provide to the players. It's a matter of whether adding Strickland will add enough to the coaching staff to be value added compared to the alternatives. But when you have a guy who has had success at Nebraska, in the NBA, can relate to these young athletes, AND was a cars salesman, you might just have a recipe for some recruiting success. Quote
Red Rum Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I was excited when I finally found out where Tai was sitting and that Strickland was sitting with him and his family. It can never be bad to have a 9 year NBA player haning around talking up the program. Especially one that's been here during some good years. He knows what the atmosphere has been/can be. Quote
HuskerActuary Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Sounds like Erick is looking for a coaching position somewhere. According to his Twitter, he tried for a position at Montana State (unsure if head coach or assistant - I didn't research it) but didn't get it. Quote
kldm64 Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 My guess is if Miles wanted Strickland, he would have hired him the first time around. There is no question that Erick has a passion for NU hoops and wants the program to succeed but he is potentially lacking the experience that Miles is wanting. Strickland has made it public that he wants a coaching job at NU but just not sure it will happen. I'm not opposed to it but will be surprised if it does. Quote

In his tweet he mentioned they were wanting someone with international recruiting experience. Quote
