Most Anticipated Season since '92?

    Being a cockeyed optimist, I KNEW we were better than a last place team at this point a year ago.  The 1 - 5 start in the B1G certainly didn't steel my resolve concerning my prediction of an NCAA berth, but we all enjoyed the ride from that point on.

     '91 snuck up on us after a 10 win season the previous year. I recall hanging 100 on Illinois during the San Juan shootout and thinking WHOA, where did THAT come from? That season began a 4 year run when Basketball at UNL WAS a big deal. Now after many ups and downs along the way this year is shaping up as squad capable of making a REAL run deep into March. And yes, the hype is a bit thick this time of year, but it beats the hell out of no one giving a s**t.

There was much anticipation last year but I agree there's more anticipation about this year.  Last year, we expecting to be better than the last place team most national pundits had picked us to be.  We all knew there was no reason on paper to expect more from us, but we also knew there were things going on and players who had sat out who would make a big difference and the big question was how much difference they would make.

 

But no one expected 4th place a getting our dance card punched.

 

This year, there's so much that could happen.  With a tougher schedule, will our weaknesses be more apparent, causing us to struggle?  Have the players improved as much as we've hoped?  Have the new guys added enough to the equation that it makes us significantly better?  Lots of questions.

 

I think most everyone figures we'll be good again, but how good?  Better than last year?  And will this be the year where we finally get that monkey off our backs and win a game in the NCAA tourney?

 

No one can be real sure right now until the games start getting played and we'll either be all happy or the snipe monsters will return from the woodwork.

Snipes is good eat'n, at least that is what my country cousins told me. But we didn't catch none, and I stood in that corn field for a good three hours just ahold that burlap bag.

Not easy for Nolan to outwit someone.  Usually it was just 40 minutes of hell no matter what.  But Lue was making it hell for them, so they slowed the game down in second half.   2nd half was certainly not easy to watch.

 Speaking of hard to watch Husker games and maddening slights, how 'bout this one. The '99 squad finished 10-6 in Conference & did NOT make the Dance. Still chaps my A. This year though, THIS year the Bank still has that new car smell, our home court advantage is ridiculous & the National press wants to get a room with us. Oh yeah, the roster is pretty sweet too. Is it Nov.16 yet?
