Since it's in the off season, thought I'd see what everyone's prediction is for where Miles ends up on the all time wins list at Nebraska.  Here is the current top 10.

1)  Danny Nee - 14 years =      254 wins / 190 losses

2)  Joe Cipriano - 17 years =    253 wins / 197 losses

3)  Moe Iba - 6 years =             106 wins / 71 losses

4)  Doc Sadler - 6 years =        101 wins / 89 losses

5)  Barry Collier - 6 years =      89 wins / 91 losses

6)  Harry Good - 8 years =       86 wins / 99 losses

7)  Jerry Bush - 9 years =         81 wins / 132 losses

8)  William Brown - 8 years =   64 wins / 87 losses

9)  R.G. Clapp - 6 years =        59 wins / 43 losses

10)  E.O. Stiehm - 4 years =     56 wins / 14 losses

R.G. Clapp was an outstanding coach.

Here is part of his official UNL Bio...note, no mention of basketball :)

Dr. Raymond G. Clapp served as Nebraska sixth head track and field coach from 1903-1909. He was the first coach to serve more than a single season in the position. He coached NU's first two Missouri Valley Conference champions: J.C. Knode (high jump, 1908) and D.G. McDonald (120- and 220-yard hurdles, 1909).

Also the Huskers' first wrestling coach (1911-26), Clapp was more than just a mentor for the first athletes who enjoyed the sport at the university. He was a prominent figure locally and internationally in the world of wrestling.

In the 1890s, Clapp distinguished himself as an all-around athlete while a student at Williston Seminary and at Yale University, starring in football, track, gymnastics and tennis.

#1.

Also, how sad is it that Doc Sadler is #4 (and really, so close to #3) on that list?

Why is that sad?

Because you'd think a coach that never took a team to the NCAA tournament would be much lower on that list.  I'm not trying to throw Doc under the bus or anything, it says more about how mediocre NU was more often than not than anything else.

It's sad because the NUAD has put virtually zero emphasis on the sport basically forever and the three coaches ahead of him achieved what they did in spite of it.

Let's look at it another way.  If you order the coaches by overall win % it would look like this:

1)  E.O. Stiehm ------ 4 years =  56 wins / 14 losses (.800)  +10 spots over win ranking

2)  Moe Iba ----------- 6 years =  106 wins / 71 losses (.599) +1

3)  R.G. Clapp ------- 6 years =  59 wins / 43 losses (.578) +6

4)  Danny Nee ----- 14 years =  254 wins / 190 losses (.572) -3

5)  Joe Cipriano --- 17 years =  253 wins / 197 losses (.562) -3

6)  Doc Sadler ------- 6 years =  101 wins / 89 losses (.532) -2

8)  Barry Collier ----- 6 years =  89 wins / 91 losses (.494) -2

9)  Harry Good ------ 8 years =  86 wins / 99 losses (.465) -2

10)  William Brown - 8 years =  64 wins / 87 losses (.424) -2

11)  Jerry Bush ------ 9 years =  81 wins / 132 losses (.380) -2

and just for comparison’s sake even though he's not in the top 10 for win totals yet:

7) Tim Miles ---------- 2 years =  34 wins / 32 losses (.515)

and that winning percentage would put him at +4 over win ranking as coach (BTW, best in the modern era) and make Collier, Good, Brown and Bush go down to -3

Let's dig further and do average win/loss records then rank them:

E.O Stiehm ----- 14/3.5

Moe Iba ---------- 17.67/11.83

R.G. Clapp ------ 9.83/7.17

Danny Nee ------ 18.14/13.57

Joe Cipriano ---- 14.88/11.59

Doc Sadler ------ 16.83/14.83

Tim Miles -------- 17/16

Barry Collier ---- 14.33/15.17

Harry Good ----- 10.75/12.38

William Brown -- 8/10.88

Jerry Bush ------- 9/14.67

What does it all mean?  Really nothing, but it's kind of fun to play around with the numbers.

I believe Miles will have a statue built in his honor before he's all said & done at NU.

It wouldn't surprise me if the statue was right in front of the football stadium with Miles taking a picture of the Tom Osborne statue and posting it on Twitter.

Miles' statue could be a selfie!!  :P

And, 9er, the Miles era includes a 15-18 and a 19-13 season for a grand total of 34-31 for a 0.523 winning %.
