hhcmatt Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 Shatel had this item the other day: Louisville coach Rick Pitino had some fun with some of his players at the Cardinals' tipoff lunch back in October, including Akoy Agau, the former Central star. Pitino told the audience that Agau was from Nebraska and noted, “He plays defense like he's from Nebraska.” might explain the playing time. I can't tell if this is a burn or complement Quote
a0t0w0 Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 I hate Pitino. hhcmatt, Hooper and jdostal 3 Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 yeah! right now our defense is pretty good in this state! be it basketball or football. Guess if we ever get a coach from Louisville we can say he stays late at bars like a Louisville coach. Quote
huskerhombre Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 Isn't the real question whether or not Agau can play defense longer than 12 seconds? Quote
FredsSlacks Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 There should be a ban on Agau topics until after the season is over. Quote

CardHusker Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 Akoy looked like a decent prospect in one of the exhibition games, I can't remember which. Rick has a history of not giving players minutes, even in blowouts, if he doesn't think they have earned them. Especially to freshmen. Sort of like Rick Adelman and rookies at the NBA level. Earl Clark had several DNPs his freshman year the first third of the season for the very same reason and he was a McDonalds AA. Peyton Siva also had very limited minutes at times his freshman year. If Chane Behanan and Montrezl Harrell go pro after the year, at least one will likely not return, then that will open minutes. SVT did redshirt one year but it was due to injury. He graduates this year so that will open up another spot. Quote

roscoe Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 This may be off subject but with all the oversigning and early NBA entrys how do these schools maneuver around the so-called graduation rate stipulations set forth by the NCAA? The kids definitely are not graduating and I thought transfers also affected this rule. Quote

The kids definitely are not graduating and I thought transfers also affected this rule. Its only hurt if the player leaves the school before finishing the spring semester out or leaves in bad academic standing. The school only needs a 50% graduation rate to pass to stay away from the sanctions. So for every 2-3 guys that go pro you have to have 2-3 role players on the end of the bench to graduate for you to stay in good standing. Quote

Rick the comedian gets a few chuckles by poking fun of his freshmen player's game & home-state football school. But, who really knows... Quote
CardHusker Posted November 21, 2013 Report Posted November 21, 2013 I took the comment to mean like he was still playing high school ball back in Nebraska. Quote
