Reports of Smith being 6-8. Reading on some pay sites that Smith is bouncey and plays above the rim. Very athletic. Strong rebounder and blocks shots at the rim. Has the ability to handle the ball and drive to the basket.

Would it be slightly awkward if we offered/signed one and not the other?

yes. Would you rather have both zach and david as a package deal,

or take our chances of getting either gilmore or bolden?

I would rather go after Gilmore and Bolden. I would not make Zach Smith's offer committable, unless Gilmore completely eliminates Nebraska. I think Gilmore is a better player as well as the fact that he gives Nebraska future recruiting connections to Anderson in the 2015 class and Janacek in the 2016 class. I would like to see Nebraka exhaust all possibilities with Gilmore and Bolden, before moving on to anyone else.

Don't forget about Deng Deng. You've got Gilmore, Deng Deng, and Zach Smith. All 3 in the small forward category. All 3 with comparable offers. All 3 with Texas ties. Gilmore has been very high on Nebraska and he is the obviously the most well known of the group, carrying the rivals rating and the 4-stars. The other two are lesser known, but each with some nice offers and/or interest. It should also be noted that Zach Smith was an AAU teammate of Jacob Hammond on the ProSkills17 team from the Dallas area. Remember that Hammond was originally from Texas (or at least spent time there) and split time between the ProSkills (Dallas) and Compton Magic (Okla City) AAU teams.

Has Bolden actually said he has any interest in us? All I've heard is that his dad knows Coach Harriman. Now that he will be playing prep ball in the U.S., and with Louisville and others already on him, I don't think we'll be on his radar.

Smith seems to be a great athlete and garbage-man type but not a great offensive player. That would be okay if he were about 3 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.....but Gilmore has the same size and athleticism and can also score. Not really high on Deng, his stats aren't great and I don't see why we need a JUCO forward with all the young talent we have at that position.

So I say lock up Gilmore and Wacker and start putting all efforts into the 2015 class.

Kamdy and ajb are spot on. We really don't know what is going with the coaches.

Can we get Gilmore, think it is possible.

Deng maybe, Bolden, don't know.

I would assume that we have made some kind of contact, maybe it has all been settled and we are already out.

I just trust that the right guy/guys will make it here.

It is fun to guess though.

I'll rehash a little of what I said in the Bolden thread. Heck, it might not have even been his thread, can't remember anymore. Bolden hasn't said anything that I'm aware of as to where his interest lies. But we do have that connection. Miles and Harriman were in Australia this summer and while they were there, Harriman probably introduced Miles to his old pro teammate, roommate, and buddy, Bruce Bolden. Who knows how far that will carry us, but I'm assuming we have a chance with Bolden until we hear differently. Washut also penned this title: "Huskers Among Leaders For Aussie Standout Bolden". He has a Nebraska offer for gods sake and I don't think you just take a flier and write that if there's only some random story about a connection from years ago that won't matter at all. If I'm not mistaken Findlay Prep plays in GI this year? Did I read that on here? Maybe I'm making this up again.

Findlay Prep was contacted for that Heartland Hoops Classic in GI, but I don't think they're coming now.  Last I heard the biggest team coming in was Denver East.

like I've stated in other threads.  You get 12 official visits allowed per year for basketball and NU will only sign 2-3 players so why not exhaust your visits on your Plan B guys.  That way if Plan A doesnt work out that guy has already made his trip and you dont have to scramble.

I agree that you should let plan B guys visit, but i think it would be more beneficial if you could get the plan A guys to visit first.

I doubt Smith and Wacker would sit around and wait as our plan b guys, when they have offers from Marquette, Boston college, Colorado, Creighton, Texas Tech (both), Washington st, TCU (both), Witchita St, etc.

Fair enough. I was just wondering if anyone has actually read the Washut article and if Bolden said he we were a leader, or if Washut just assumed we are among the leaders because of that connection. Headlines are often deceiving.

I guess I'm just expecting another Okafor/Myles Turner situation where they may have interest at first, but when their ranking goes up and the big boys come calling, we aren't even on their radar anymore. If Tai Webster had played Prep School ball in the U.S. I'm not sure he'd be on our team right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if miles is hoping to get commitments from both Smith and Wacker next weekend. I find it strange that we scheduled a visit with Smith who plays the exact position as Gilmore, but we have no visit scheduled with Gilmore (who is visiting creighton in 2 days). Miles said he wants 2 big men, and Wacker is our last post guy on the radar.

Bolden would be great, but he is most likely a 1 and done guy and a long shot to get, and for whatever reason it could be possible that miles likes something better about Smith than Gilmore. Smith might be a bit more athletic and might have as much potential as gilmore. Scholarship offers aren't that much different between smith and gilmore.

Are every one of the offers commitable offers?  You really dont know where they sit with any school until they actually commit.  Yes you'd love to get the Plan A guys in first but what if their schedule cant get them in until right before signing day and they decide on another school.  If plan B guy hasnt committed yet and already visited at that point you can go right to him and try to secure him.  You have to play the recruiting game.
