"The “Invest 2 Be The Best” pep rally that will begin the day's festivities is expected to include approximately 5,000 middle-school students from Lincoln and surrounding communities.

 

"Partnering with Lincoln Public Schools and other schools in the area gives local youth a chance to see the first regular-season game inside the arena and be a part of history," Boehm said."

 

I actually think this is a really good thing.  (even aside from the obvious fact that it is a cool thing to do for the kids)  I think it is a smart way to try to build a connection between the kids and Husker Hoops when they are young.  Hopefully it will help to grow the fanbase as these kids grow older.  Obviously, winning will grow the fanbase, but I think building a connection between these kids and Husker Hoops will also help.  I would like to see Nebraska basketball do more things like this with high school and middle school students in both Lincoln and Omaha.  Also, would work out in Nebraska's favor if some of those students ended up being high level basketball players...
