The new American Athletic conference???  wha??  They lose that prestigious name and a lot of the teams that made that conference great.  Marquette, Georgetown and Butler are obviously the cream of the crop...but thats really it.  That conference will be like an SEC in my opinion.  The prestige of that conference is out the window with all the great teams that left it.  Big 10 hands down much much better.  So i suppose Creighton can say they are a big boy now????  Kind of.

Just to be clear, the American Athletic Conference is the name the leftover schools will use, like UConn.  The conference with Creighton will still be named the Big East.

Creighton is going to the Big East. It's the leftovers with UConn that will be in this American Athletic. But you are right that the new Big East won't touch the B1G.

Not sure what the point of this thread is. So we play in the BIG, and the team that shall not be named plays in a lesser conference? Does this mean we've given up on actually winning the game this year, so this is the only argument we can win? This is what you do when you surrender.

 

I look forward to just saying "we beat you, nyah, nyah, nyah" and dropping this "we play in a better conference, nyah, nyah, nyah" stuff.

This speaks to a larger phenomenon. Naming Oklahoma City the "Thunder", "Legends" & "Leaders" and now the "American" Athletic Conference. Makes me think of all those "Acme" products Wy-Lee Coyote use to order and how hopelessly stunted our collective imaginations have become.
