LOL, at 1:03:20, Danny calls for the "special" defense, which turns out to be a box and one with Badgett guarding Askia Jones.  The announce crew makes a big deal of it, but it doesn't work, Tom Best fouls out.

 

Then, at 1:05:53, as Kansas State was taking the ball up the court after a couple Chubick free throws, you can clearly hear over the announcer's mic, Danny asks them "You got the box and one?", and he repeats it "You got the box and one?".

 

Now THAT is classic Danny!

Every time they got him the ball in the low post and he scored I turned to anyone who would listen and said "ALL NIGHT LONG". We would be a dance team every year if we could clone DC. He and Dapreis Owens are co-captains of my "all-underrated" team

Oh, yeah.  DC.  Someone posted a couple of weeks ago that he had no offensive ability.  Can't remember the exact statement but called him an offensive liability who was basically just a shot blocker on the defensive end.  Not the DC I remember.

 

Whoever said that should watch at least the first few minutes of this game.  Chandler accounts for two made freethrows, a turnaround bank shot in the lane and an assist for our first 6 points of this game.  Derrick Chandler is exactly the kind of player we need to add to this roster for next year.

Does anyone else remember how "Willy the Wildcat" would make a dunk during warm-ups, in full costume? Always impressive.

Yep.  I recall a game against KSU @ Devaney in the late 80's where they brought their cheer squad and Willie, and Willie dunked the ball then.  Pretty impressive considering the giant wildcat head.

I was at this game !!    They didn't show it on TV, but when DC fouled out they were giving him the old "left right left right" and DC points to the scoreboard.   Kind of like " are kidding me...we are killing you guys, look at the score".   Man, did we have a solid roster..... a little young and not crazy big, but a real solid roster.
