Do any of you ever remember seeing fans from a conference rival, at a school with clearly more basketball tradition and ranked higher than we are, openly wishing they had our coach?

"Gopher Basketball is as infuriating as realizing Tim Miles is the coach at Nebraska, not Minnesota."

Man, if that isn't a testament to where we might be headed.  I hope the buyout in Tim's contract works both ways.

"We missed on our opportunity on Miles. This was the job he wanted. I know this personally, at least at one time in his life."

Man, if Nebrasketball gets it going the way many of us are thinking/hoping, this is really going to drive them nuts.  Especially if they go the opposite direction.

Man, even the Minnesotans are making Andre fat jokes.  That's pretty rough.

Why wouldn't they be?  If he played for Minny we'd still be making fun of him.

Just goes to show how truly great this hire was, (props to TO and his committee) I went to the at Minnesota game this year, as many others this year in the B1G, and I heard countless times, how they think Tim Miles is a great fit at Nebraska, and how they wish they had a coach like that!

That's cool.  I'm getting a chuckle over all the comments from the haters. Saying we still don't belong in the big 10 and that our win last night didn't mean anything to anyone but us. lol...and don't get me started on the comments about the court rushing.  like the saying goes haters gonna hate.

No matter what...I gotta say we went out with a bang at the Bob last night and that I was one of the fans that went even though I thought this would be a really really really nasty season.  I'm very proud of the team and they way the season unfolded.

lol...I still don't have a clue why people chose to leave early last night.  WTH?

Well it was getting close to 10:00 and they had to see the weather before they go to bed. ;)

Also if you aren't from Nebraska you aren't going to understand the court storm.

Will probably be on one of ESPN's many talk shows because it could be a story that could debated, even thought there really isn't anything to debate.

Rushing the court is a hot topic right now and I'm sure some will see us as wanna bes.

However I think it was perfect.  It needed to be done. Because of the enviroment is was called for.

Anyone complaining about the court storming doesn't have a clue. Period.

"Anyone that stormed the court after this game tonight should be embarassed.

Worst basketball game (by both teams) all year. I've seen better

performance from beginner, grade school in-house basketball teams.

Embarassing performance by both teams."

"Storming the court? Are you kidding me?! Get out the big ten Nebraska. You don't deserve to be here"

Those are just two of the comments. My response "Game was over...at that point the team we beat was a non issue...the fans celebrated 37 years at the Bob."

Who was the guy before the game with the sign "real fans don't leave early"?

That guy sat a couple rows in front of me the last few seasons.  Every game he shouted at the fans that walked out early.  Sometimes they would ignore him...but there's been a few times when the people around me would tell him to STFU.

lol..and not to bring up a topic that we have brought up before numerous times on the board this one got a chuckle out of me....especially the last part of the statement.

"For whoever said join the conference USA is crazy any any other sport we beat a
lot of teams proud to be a husker look how many championships we have
in football volleyball and other teams can say in big ten and how many
make good money coming from nu in the pro grams every team would love to
say that men's basketball is there weakness but u can't be good at
every sport I have to admit I am a Creighton fan for men's basketball but
everything else go husker nation"

Tim Miles has the chance to be the patriarch of an elite program in an elite basketball conference.  Everything is laid out if he can prove to be the right guy at the right place at the right time.

Famous in the south for taking a perennial cellar dweller Georgia Tech program, without a single thread of elite pedigree, and making it relevant and to some degree a destination program in a dominant basketball conference, Tim Miles reminds me of Bobby Cremins in many ways, and our current program of Georgia Tech's at the beginning of the 80's.

For those of you who don't know the Ga Tech history, here's a brief quote from an article written back in '87:

"In six seasons at Georgia Tech, Cremins has turned the worst program in Atlantic Coast Conference history--1-29 in league play during the two seasons before he arrived--into a perennial national contender.

The Yellow Jackets won the ACC tournament in 1985 and reached the NCAA tournament final eight. They have been to three straight NCAA tournaments. During one stretch, Cremins recruited four straight ACC rookies of the year: Mark Price, Bruce Dalrymple, Ferrell and Tommy Hammonds. He has the odds-on favorite to win it this year, Dennis Scott.

In short, Cremins is a winner, a big-time winner who has been rewarded with a lucrative contract, plenty of endorsement money and status in his profession at age 39 envied by most.

He isn't satisfied.

"I want this to be a great program," he said, driving toward a preseason scrimmage on a rainy night. "The first few years after I got here, we kept going up, doing better every year. We weren't getting guys the whole world wanted, we were getting guys who came here and got better like Price, (John) Salley and (Yvon) Joseph. Dalrymple was the first big name recruit we had."

Miles has recruited some talent in Webster, Fuller, and Hawkins that I feel is very similar to the building blocks Cremins started his program with - undervalued, but talented.  Cremins was/is a very dynamic communicator - people are drawn to him and fascinated by him - same with Miles.  If I'm not mistaken, Georgia Tech was a newby in the ACC just like we are in the B1G.

I could see a scenario where Miles could end up with his name on a court in Lincoln, same as Cremins has in Atlanta.  It could be that we are witnessing the birth of something bigger, something lasting, something elite.

Gotta admit, that's funny though.

I've heard rumors that the students were gonna rush the court, even if we lost.  Not sure that would have happened, but just to be clear, storming the court had nothing to do with Minnesota, or beating Minnesota.

Storming the court was how the students paid homage to the BDSC.

Of course, what would Gopher fans know about closing the doors on an arena...they've never done it.

I mentioned this in another thread, but it seems to fit here too: in last night's post-game presser, Tim Miles showed that he likes fans rushing the court--he said that Colorado State "led the country" in that category and mentioned that his son inquired hopefully whether the fans would rush the court if we were to win last night. Then, Tim Miles had a brilliant suggestion: that the students should rush the court in slow motion, like the slow motion wave we do in Memorial Stadium. Love it.
