The head coach for South Dakota is Carrie (Hofstetter) Eighmey from Edgar Ne. She played HS ball @ Sandy Creek. She was a little crazy while coaching Hastings College.

The small gym must have been to our liking. Twenty of 34 on threes.  Can we make them when we need them next week?

Potts continues to impress, she plays hard all the time.

Prince was very assertive tonight

The two Kendall’s had nice games

I liked Rimdal and Nissley starting

Concerned about Weidner in warmups 2nd half

On to North Alabama

i was at the Pentagon tonight.  I wonder if anyone else notice what I think I saw.  I KNOW I saw AW-3 playing w/o the knee brace.  I THINK  I saw a much faster and quicker and more mobile version of the AW-3 we have seen in the first three games.  More of the  acceleration boost we saw pre-injury.  Anyone notice?

BUT she played so few minutes -   I am not sure if she even played in the second half.  Gotta wonder

I took a still shot of the bench on one of videos on X and blew it up . AW had a wrap on her left knee.  Could have been an ice bag.

Was at the VB match last night. Watched on BTN+ and also noticed Allison with no brace. Might be why she played so little? She did not play after halftime. Also was surprised by our starters but think we could see this group again as our starting five.

When you're up 30 at half, why risk injury. I get that she needs to knock rust off. But save those legs for later in the season.

The bad (or pessimistic if you prefer):

Neither team played much good defense.  We won’t be able to simply outscore most good teams.

Knee brace or not, I remain sadly pessimistic about AW’s ability to contribute significantly.  Hope I’m wrong.

The good:

20 3s from 9 players is insane!  Obviously some of it was just unusually hot hands, but 9 players are not just getting hot simultaneously.  We showed noticeably better offensive energy, passing and movement than in prior games.  That improvement is replicable, even if 20 for 34 is usually not.  And if we can bring the same energy and movement consistently on both ends we may have something special.

It's always fun to see Coach Eighmey doing well. Made a habit of catching her win nattys in Sioux City when she played for Hastings. She had a really sweet big they ran everything through and that team was fun to watch. And of course all the high school heroics. Big fan. Good luck Yotes.
