I know we have a few people here "in the know" - so I'm hoping they can provide a little clarity here OR maybe even more clarity in my Direct Private Messages.

Where do we rank with rest of Big 10 and similar programs in NIL money? Will there be an infusion of extra money starting right now because of this success? Should we be nervous about NIL money or able to compete with the borderline Top 25 type of programs?

I just worry because, for example, last year we didn't have enough to get the PG who went to WVU, for example.

Any insight publicly or privately would be very much appreciated.

I had heard top 15 at an actual NIL event but I don’t remember who gave me that rank nor am I in the know.

Regardless, I think we’re very competitive.  It’s a lot easier to impact a basketball team than a football team.

I thought the new AD's comments were interesting. Many won't like it but it's a smart play. NIL will be a big part of our success moving forward.

Who won't like it.... old blue-hairs probably aren't setting the tone of how the new regime will operate, I'm just spitballin' here... maybe they still have some pull, but I doubt it.

Now, that is easier said than done, but Fred's 29-14 in his past season+9 gm. I think the proof will be in the puddin'! I hope there's a B1G plan to achieve greatness. Anything less will be uncivilized. 😉

I respectfully disagree.  A major theme at the press conference dealt with NIL, 1890 Initiative (Peed) and the retention of players/coaches/administrators.   Where does the money come from?  Sure you and I may dump 10K into the coffers; but the majority comes from the "old blue-hairs."  Their generosity and love of this university is our life-blood.  Without them, and the opinions they have a right to provide, will always play a major role in our decision process.

I visited with an "old blue hair" several years ago that was a significant donor.  He was told by a certain ex-AD that he could no longer earmark where his donations could go within the athletic department.   Well, the donor fixed that by stopping his donations.  My point, is that if you are going to "donate" a million dollars, then you will earn the right to help set the tone.

Fair enough. I don't know how much longer the Cook fam et al will be around, that's what I was referring to. I wasn't trying to diminish their roles as much as wondering who will be the next leaders to step up in the Husker Kingdom, and I suspect it will be a much younger crowd who might want the vision that Trev had laid out for S. Stadium... just ruminations I've had, that's all... appreciate the clarity on the current state of affairs with the Peeds et al. I should have been more clear on why I brought up the 'old blue-hairs'.

It may come as a surprise, but 100% of our NIL budget is fully funded by Kidney.

Wow, we ought to be set for 7th grade girls' basketball then.
