Two jimmy jacks of the solo variety appear to be the difference (at the moment). Nebraska only has 4 hits so far, with 2 being home runs. NU leads 3-2 in the 7th inn. GBR

The bullpen implodes and allows 4 runs on 2 walks, 2 hbp, a double, sac fly, wp.  Now, we are down by 3.

These last 2 weekends, our offense looks anemic.  Barring a turnaround in the 9th, we are having to win Saturday and Sunday to win another series.

Man, a double play ball hits the pitcher and everyone is safe.  Now, another hit batter forces another run in.  And, this has been an utter disaster.

Implosion is the right word for what appears to be occurred in the 8th & 9th by NU... as Rutgers scored 7 runs. Yikes.

This loss wouldn't be as disappointing if we hadn't gifted most of these runs to Rutgers in the 8th and 9th innings.

We are about to lose our first series.  Our offense is DEAD!!  We are batting .199 in our last 5 games + 8  innings.  Braxton gets hammered, Schwellenbach blows his first save.  This is not the team we have seen for the first 28 games.  We are dropping pop flies out of our glove.  Hallmark lets a ball drop right in front of him that leads to a run.  The one bright spot has been Chick's play at 2nd.

We found out what happens when we don't get to play bad teams.    We are 6 - 6 against teams who are over .500, and 14 - 3 against teams who are under .500.  I was afraid of this happening.  We are not quite there to beat the good teams.

Unacceptable really.  At least we can toss the hosting talk and just hope to make a regional.

I know baseball is a big swing game, but I don't understand how you can go from having ALL of the mojo (pun intended)in the world, to looking like you have none at all in the span of a few days.  

 

Sure, "tougher" competition I guess... but we just look all out of sorts.

We're going to find out what kind of players and coaches we have going forward.  Struggling everywhere esp. at the plate (yeah, you'd think we were facing the Yankees 2001 staff or something).

I don't like this plan of falling behind and trying to rally.  I guess we tried having a 1 run and 4 run lead going into the 7th and lost.  Might as well try the other way.

Okay We are really on a big bad slump right now... and we have to know we played a team that is white hot right now...  If I was Bolt I would lock the doors and tell them do anything besides baseball tomorrow.

 

We kind of knew we have been playing with house money and now have hit a bump...  we will see how things go from here... remember we were picked 7th so far that was a bad prediction.

Shoot, I had hoped NU could salvage the Sunday game. To get shut out is a very disappointing end to a 3-game sweep at home.
