It appears it will be built as primarily a concert venue with its secondary purpose being a basketball arena.

https://news.utexas.edu/2018/12/20/world-class-ut-basketball-arena-will-host-longhorns-benefit-austin-community/

Matthew McConaughey will act as the “Minister of Culture” at the venue, ensuring that Longhorn and Austin cultures are front and center and helping create a fan experience unlike any other.  When asked how he felt about taking on the added responsibilities of minister of culture for the new venue, McConaughey replied, "All right all right all right!"

No word was given on the importance of the role High School chicks will play in the new venture.

The article I read was that a Southern California based company will get the rights to the land and will own the building for 10 years. Taking concession sales, tickets, etc. Then after 10 years the land and building are 100% UT's.

My take on that is that even if UT gets first rights at events (I think it said 60 scheduled days?), it's not going to be as autonomous as how PBA works. And the company is banking on making a killing off of those first 10 years, then pass on all the maintenance costs and liabilities.

I'm surprised that it will be 10,000 seats for basketball. Frank Erwin hold 16,000 plus

Not Arena Porn per-se, but facilities related nonetheless:

According to that dude who reports for the SEC, I think his name is Pat Finebottom, we Neebraskans are delusional about Husker football.  No matter what we do, we will suck.  Dang...why pray tell are we spending all that money...

...because our fans keep showing up and our donors keep giving money to the university.

Have you found one for the Nebraska Athletic center?

I looked a few days ago but couldn't find one.

If anybody knows who the architecture firm or the contractor is I'd like to know.  Can't find it on the web anywhere.

Baylors new 7,500 seat arena opened last night.  Baylor fans impressed and hoping it’ll create a hostile atmosphere.

Others laughing at the size but do say it could be a tough place to play.  Also some saying it’ll cause issues when they play on the road and post season.
