Nope. He played Kalkbrenner perfectly, which allowed us to swarm the shooters on the perimeter. For all of Kalkbrenner’s strengths, being a traditional low post scoring threat isn’t one of them. Meah being strong enough to handle him one on one was key. I’m guessing, though, that Meah’s minutes going forward is based purely on matchups. Our 7 man rotation is pretty locked in it seems, and i don’t disagree with it one bit. This appears to be our best lineup.

it seems like eons ago since the Creighton game. Our defense was lights out. We covered the three point line extremely well. I don’t know what the heck happened with our defense but they need to look at the Creighton tape and rediscover our defensive mojo.

i don’t know why we keep going to Bryce to handle the ball in late game situations. He has very poor ball handling and passing skills in that role. Not sure what the coaches see that they like in that situation but we keep doing it….

That was a masterclass by the coaches on how to play Kalk on both ends of the floor. I assumed going in that Kalk would have 8 blocks and Creighton would make a ton of open threes off of double teams like most teams seem to do to us. The defense was insane. He never even got the ball to kick out to the shooters to pass around the perimeter. And even though Creighton shot a ton of threes the shooters rarely had time to get comfortable. Offensively the way we attacked was brilliant. We aren’t a great shooting team so we either attacked where Kalk wasn’t or our drivers went right into his chest like you are supposed to do against a shot blocker. I am just amazed we did it a full 40. I thought against Saint Mary’s our team started to figure out how the pieces fit together. But I never expected a dominant performance like this!

He tweeted GBR during the game. His teammate Derrick White is from Colorado so I assume they thought it would be fun because where they both are from. I suppose he’s a Jaysker.

I kinda felt like we had a sneaky good transfer portal off-season. Being listed in the top 5…. Not really sneaky anymore.

Cross was my favorite player on that team. He had a lot of potential but it seemed like he didn’t have the support of the staff…. I always felt it was because of Matt A. It’s one of those things that is too bad but unfortunately that is how life works sometimes. Good for him to find a program that let him grow into the player he became.

Great point. Josiah was erratic on offense but he was the man on defense.

We have 11 guys as of now you can make a reasonable argument for being in the rotation. You almost never see 10 man rotations. Usually it is 7-8 guys. If I had to guess, Sam and Uhlis are going to be battling it out for a spot. Janowski is a guy I would expect to battle for minutes as the year progresses. Beyond that who the heck knows. Actually i don’t even know the above. It is exciting to have so many options. If a couple guys don’t pan out immediately it isn’t a killer. This has been one heck of an off-season.

Me neither. Jorge had a great post move that other players had a hack of a time stopping when he got to his spot. If I remember right he had some foot issues which limited him here which was too bad. I like him and Standhardinger when Doc would actually have them on the court together.
