Let's approach these testing records another way. Here's saying that athleticism records from this group is not exactly surprising -- and we don't need to keep minimizing or trivializing them. Consider these bits of info: We have four Rivals four-star players on the team. Count them -- 4: Watson, Morrow, White and Gill. We have an international player who came with lots of recruiting hype -- Webster. We haven't had a prior player who even approached a four-star rating since the likes of Strickland, Woolridge, Boone and Badgett. So, the only surprise about the record testing results is this: the hero of the testing is a three-star player with limited recruiting offers. Otherwise, it all makes perfect sense.

That's not what the article says. It's merely a personal comparison from beginning of season.

Anyone suggesting the performance numbers are less than stellar will to take it up with Boyd Epley, according to the OWH: "Boyd Epley, Nebraska’s assistant athletic director for strength and conditioning, heaped praise on the program. “When we see a bunch of school records like this, it’s usually after the offseason training period,” Epley said. “So this is pretty impressive. “Overall, Tim Wilson put in some pretty impressive test scores in men’s basketball. And hat’s off to the players.” . . . “I can’t stress enough how impressive that is,” Epley said, “considering it comes after the season.”

This is a little concerning though basically having another Andrew White who can cover the other team's SG will be nice. Glynn/Tai are going to be critical for us penetrating into the lane though Glynn will need to learn to finish this year in the trees. My memory of Anton Gill from the exhibition scrimmage at the beginning of the season is this: he can get his shot off any time and from anywhere, off the dribble or off an assist, and under heavy pressure too -- and it goes in the hoop.Anyone remember this differently?

I prefer to look at how close we actually are this year. Some key injuries at the wrong time took us down: no Shavon at Wisconsin, no Shavon and no Ed in multiple games, and a <100% Shavon, Ed, Andrew, etc., at the same time in several games. With those injuries, a lack of depth is the real killer this year, resulting in some heart-breaking and close losses. But the development of our freshmen and the influx of high-quality new talent will solve a significant part of the depth problem 2015-16 is an "almost" year with better days ahead. The 2015-16 season and recruiting commitments actually show a program on the rise, with great young talent to build upon.

Intriguing information about this recruit is the offers he holds. According to Rivals, the offers include (in addition to Nebraska): Arizona Arizona St. Baylor LSU Minnesota Oklahoma St. Pittsburgh Providence SMU Virginia Tech. If we land him, at least we know that other high-level schools think he is worthy of an offer--regardless of what we internet geniuses might argue.

Aguek's athleticism is impressive and undeniable. When he took it to the hole off the dribble from way out front, my thought is that he looked like Tai doing what Tai does best--only with greater athleticism. That move, when it's available, is unstoppable. Aguek will be great at NU!

Must be a girlfriend.

Wow. Boston College record this year: 7-25 overall; 0-18 on their conference.

And some Hawkeyes fans are fuming and calling for Fran to be fired forthwith.

Our problem the past two years is, in large part, injuries. If one of the bigs stays healthy last season, we are a much better team: e.g., in the only game Leslee Smith played 31 minutes, we beat Michigan St. This season, Shavon and Ed (and Andrew for a time) are hurt at he same time. Ed is still suffering. If those guys are healthy, the results of our last games are significantly different.

We Have a Game Today Folks Vol. 1 Issue 2
Swan88 replied to hskr4life's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Last time we played Wisconsin, it was in Madison and neither Shields nor Morrow played--an 11 point loss for the good guys. Hopefully, Shavon on the floor, some quality minutes for a still-foot-sore Ed, and a neutral site all bode well for tonight's game. -
At least he's strong academically. Here is a recent report: Published On: Mar 01 2016 07:17:16 PM EST LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven University of Louisville men's basketball players have been named to the annual All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Basketball team. The seven UofL players selected were . . . Mangok Mathiang, . . .

We just got done blowing out a B1G team--heck, we were up by 28 when Miles took his foot off the gas. And we did it without our top player and without one of our significant bigs. And we did it starting three freshmen. And we had a couple sophomores make major progress. And we find a way to be grumpy and crabby about this team's quality and prospects? Scheesh.
-
He's in the gray t-shirt, I believe:
-
We'll be starting three freshmen in this game: Glynn Watson, Mike Jacobson and Jack McVeigh. Guess we'll find out what kind of progress they've made thus far. Wisconsin's freshmen who play the most average around 3 points per game.

Here is a September 30, 2015, news report on a player by this name from Kansas: "Eudora junior guard Mitchell Ballock had surgery Monday to repair a torn labrum in his left [shooting] shoulder and is expected to miss the high school season."
-
But we did beat Mich. St. And think where we'd be if we'd finished off against Cincinati or Miami or Northwestern or Maryland, etc. If we'd pulled off any one or more of those--we'd be sitting pretty.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 23 - Maryland
Swan88 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Couldn't go to the game, and watched only a little bit on tv toward the end. I'm still irritated with the BTN announcer--when the Maryland guard undercut Glynn: the BTN guy went on about it being a clean foul. Then, the crowd is booing the offender on the next possession, and the BTN guy is going on about how only great players get booed. I wanted to yell at the tv that Husker fans will boo any schmuck who takes a cheap shot--especially if he hurts one of our guys. There was no back-handed compliment in those booes--none whatsoever. Scheesh! -
2016 SF Deshawn Corprew -> JUCO -> Texas Tech
Swan88 replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Hopefully, such reports will be reminiscent of this Georgetown report issued shortly before Anton Gill committed to Nebraska: "Casual sources and @Hoyas247 indicate that Louisville transfer guard Anton Gill is close to committing to Georgetown, with a formal commitment possible as soon as tonight. Gill visited Georgetown over the weekend and word is that he impressed the coaching staff both on and off the court." But then again . . . the KU predictions might prove to be right for Mr. Corprew. -
