So . . . Washut seems to think Tennessee is the favorite. But Igor is visiting Tennessee today (and Baylor tomorrow). It’s been suggested that listing a top three (including Nebrasketball) during his visit to Tennessee is odd—and gives us hope.

Gavin Griffiths, a 6-foot-8, 193-pound guard joins the Knightood for his first season in Piscataway. Griifiths is from the Kingswood-Oxford High School in West Hartford, Conn., Griffiths was ranked the No. 20 recruit in the country (247 Sports), marking the highest-ranked player landed in the Steve Pikiell-era and the second-highest recruit to attend RU in the modern era. Only former Rutgers guard Mike Rosario was ranked higher at the time of his recruitment (2008). Griffiths is also ranked No. 1 in the state of Connecticut by 247 Sports. Griffiths was upgraded from a four-star recruit to a five-star recruit in January of 2023.

Here's an item posted at 8:30 this morning on an Indiana website about Pharrel Payne, who visited Indiana on April 12: "Payne would be an interesting add, but it would probably come down to Ballo’s [Arizona's big] decision and the role he’s looking for."

I don't know who HB might be either. But here's an "I have a friend" item by an anonymous poster on Red Sea Scrolls on Tuesday that is similar to our unidentified HB: "I have a friend that’s very close with the program. He just texted me “Sounds like we are about to see some serious talent start pouring in” Also said “Fred has them lined up.” He’s a pretty reliable source. Fred is cookin’ GBR"

Replies to the email linked above say Griffiths will be a "Friar." But how's this for a Fred Hoiberg recruiting niche: taking former five stars that underperformed elsewhere (e.g., Griffiths and Biliew) and developing them into what they were projected to be? That would be cool.

For what it’s worth, here are a few posts from yesterday on Red Sea Scrolls in a Frankie Fidler thread: ”Frankie is golfing with Sam Hoiberg today….maybe a good sign!”; later yesterday, “Pretty sure fiddler at Barry’s right now“; and still later, “Can confirm. Surrounded by the ladies.”

Ha! The poster most certainly could be a troll. But that post came with an in-person and court-level photo from the 3 point contest with both Rienke and Keisei in the photo. Also, the poster seems to be a genuine Husker fan. For example, here is one of his posts on Red Sea Scrolls in a string on caravaning to the B1G Tournament in Minneapolis: "Headed up Friday, Haven't got tickets yet but will probably purchase tomorrow. If anyone has 3 extras in Lower Level for Friday or Saturday looking to sell, let me know before we purchase. GBR!"

A poster on Red Sea Scrolls reports that he talked to Rienke Mast last night at the 3-point contest. He writes that Mast says he's "coming back for sure" next season and that "Fred's got a plan in the works." Sounds good to me!!!

The video has him bringing the ball up the floor a number of times. Any possibility he might be a reincarnation of Delano Banton?

Washut says On3's "crystal ball" for Fidler is merely an algorithm thing: it popped automatically because (i) he's from Nebraska, and (ii) he visited here. But that being said, what's up with Fidler? Supposedly he's heading to Wisconsin . . . but he hasn't pulled the trigger. Why wait, if you've decided. The last item on Frankie's X (Twitter) page is a repost of Sam Hoiberg's tweet of Frankie in a Husker uniform, dated February 28.
