  1. Robin Washut says he "would bet" on a big man via the Division I transfer route.
  2. Thanks for all the support. But my question above, following the newly-available-Center hypothetical, is this: "What can we do?" The non-responsive responses are some variation of, "that's ridiculous, Miles would never hold a scholarship on purpose." The correct and direct answer to the question is this: we could do nothing--we'd have to pass on that recruit. Fortunately, the football team had no such constraint in a real-world / actual situation involving a Wisconsin recruit. Now, back to the ridiculous proposition: having a scholarship remain open every year so far, when at-least-marginal players were available, says something about Miles' strategic plans. Now . . . I'm hunkered down in my bunker--so, fire away.
  3. A Memphis news source provides the following information about Jerrell and Jeriah in an item dated July 25, 2015: While Jerrell was a banger inside . . . , Jeriah is more of a skilled big man who can carry his team offensively as a low-post scoring threat or faceup shooter. “I was more of an inside player. Jeriah’s game is just more finesse. He can do a lot more than I can do. A lot more,” Jerrell said. “When we started out and I was coaching him, I had him at point guard.” Said Jeriah: “When we were down in Louisiana, I always played as a guard. Like, ball in my hands so I can facilitate. When I came to (Overland Park) Kansas, I was bigger than everyone else and everybody all of a sudden wanted to throw me on the block. I’d catch the ball and bring it up court and hear, ‘Give it to the guard! Give it to the guard!’ and I’m thinking, ‘I am the guard.’ ”
  4. Here is a current photo of both Jerrell and Jeriah Horne:

This is a basketball card of his Dad, Jerrell Horne, as a Memphis Tiger--he played there in the early 1990s with Penny Hardaway. Jerrell then played professionally in Poland. Jerrell was described as "a banger inside."
  6. Nice job, 49r. Well done!
  7. So, let's say we fill our allotment in November and over-sign by one in June, with one current player transferring. Then early August arrives, and something like this happens: a four-star / top-fifty Center, who signed elsewhere (let's say, hypothetically, at Wisconsin), finds out last-minute that he can't enroll there for some technical reason. He now wants to enroll at Nebraska. What can we do?
  8. He says, "49r, I believe this is killing me." As the smile ran away from his face "Well I'm sure that Horne could be a major star If he would commit to this place."
  9. Edit: To give credit where it is due, I found this item as a retweet from Eric Bossi of Rivals. I don't know why Bossi's retweet fails to show up here.
  10. Here is a Rivals print article on Victor Bailey with a video interview. He is being described on recruiting sites as a point guard, but in this video interview he says he projects at the next level as a 2 or a 3. He comes from an athletic family. According to the Rivals article: "Before moving to Austin, Bailey lived in Urbana and his mom was the women's track coach for the Illini. His father Victor Bailey Sr. played football at Missouri and in the NFL with the Eagles and Chiefs." In the interview he's asked who the best athlete in his family might be. The answer: he'd like to say it's him but can't because he hasn't played in the pros yet. Through the video interview, he comes across as a bright, thoughtful and well-spoken person--precisely the type of athlete Tim Miles & Co. always seem to recruit.
  11. So . . . what effect does this have on Jeriah Horne? They took official visits to Kansas State on the same weekend:
  12. It's his 1st year in America, that's probably why he hasn't been on everyone's radar. Bruno is from Angola, Africa. "1st year in America" from Angola might raise some eligibility concerns. Would this be a foreigner schnapps-thing too? Or is that limited to Jucos?
  13. Robin Washut has an excellent post-visit article on Jeriah Horne. Here is one bit of information from that article: "Horne said he's looking to make his decision as early as the first week of October, and he hopes to have a more specific date for his announcement within the next couple of days."
  14. Here is a report on Horne from the same article: On the opening night of camp, when all eyes were on five-star forward Thon Maker vs. five-star center Deandre Ayton on court one, Horne was quietly dazzling on court two. He posted 20 points and 13 rebounds, and announced after the game he was ready to break out. Sure enough, he finished every game this week with double-digit point totals, and nearly led his team to the championship Friday afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. From a July 11 Rivals report: Playing alongside Horne all week, Tshimanga provided a big body with power to match down low. The lefty was strong in the paint, and while he wasn't flashy playing mostly below the rim, he was a bully on the glass, recording nearly seven rebounds per game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. So . . . are the Florida, Arkansas, Colorado and Oregon State offers legit? Such recruiting competition seems to be pretty high level.
  17. Here is a report from Eric Bossi of Rivals: Gorjok Gak: A big man who plays his high school ball in Florida, Gak has excellent long-term potential as a rim-running big man, shot blocker and rebounder. He's knocking on the door of the 2016 Rivals150 and looks a little better.
  18. Michael Jacobson and Jacob Hammond are both over 6'7". Technically, Edward Morrow is, apparently, only a hair short of 6'8"--he's certainly over 6'8" in shoes. Oh, and on Tim Miles' last team at CSU (which team made the NCAA Tournament), the tallest player who played more than a handful of minutes per game was listed on the official roster at [drumroll] 6'6" tall. Here's guessing we won't see many 6'10"+ Nebrasketball players who log significant minutes any time soon--most aren't sufficiently athletic to do what Tim Miles wants in the post position.
  19. Who is Harrell?
