  1. Must be a national thing. Iowa State only had 8 suited up against Texas last night.
  2. The future is not bright for NU Women's BB. Maryland is bringing in a top rated class and we were clearly outclassed at every position tonight. Some observations: (1) Maryland's quickness overwhelmed our weak defense (2) Jess S. has a lot of work to do to compete with elite competition (3) That is not the Rachel Theriot of old playing (4) I liked Maddie Simon, showed some ability and her size is nice to have (5) Blackburn needs to get back in the starting lineup (6) Washington might have some potential. Connie may have to evaluate recruiting if we are to compete at a high level in the B1G...we have to get more athletic and more quickness. Tonight's game should make fans appreciate how tough Cady, Sample and company were the past few years.
  3. We have lost some good players due to transfer but I respect Connie for sticking to her guns about what she demands from players. NU had players that want to be there and will play hard. This team will be very good by the end of the year, barring any injuries.
  4. With Cal's size a 1-3-1 trapping zone had to be hard for the Huskers to handle. 6'2 wings would make it tough for Romeo and Clark to pass around and through...and it seems even Theriot had difficulty. Not a bad loss, if there is such a thing and some road experience was needed.
  5. Oklahoma A & M became the 8th member of the Big 8...
  6. Not much depth at the guard spots. Clark is getting more playing time tonight. Theriot may have to become a 40 minute warrior in the B1G season.
  7. Two arenas I would dearly like to see a game in are the Palestra and Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.
  8. I was fortunate to see several BB games at Phog Allen back in the early 80's during the Ted Owens era...great atmosphere, but nothing like today as the Jayhawks were in a down period. The old Mike Ahearn Field House at K-State was an experience and seeing NU in the Coliseum was memorable during the Tom Baack, Stu Lantz, Grant Simmons days. Worst arena? Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. It is in it's last period of use and a new arena for just basketball will be built.
  9. Simon's injury has to lead for more playing time for Cincore. It is really too bad that Chandler Smith transferred.
  10. Wow! Losing Simon hurts, I imagine that is a season ending injury. Probably has played too many games to Redshirt.
  11. Beating Creighton in Omaha will not be easy.
  12. Nice effort, rebounded fairly well. Miami was a lot quicker and we did a decent job keeping them out of the lane. Probably lost because we don't have that one guy who can get their own shot when necessary. I would have liked to have seen White more involved offensively. Webster fouling out hurt. Should be a building block.
  13. Sheldon McClellan is a Texas transfer for Miami.
  14. I have only "seen" the Villanova game, the rest I've listened to on broadcasts so my opinion isn't of much value. I like that we are 5-2 and seem to be playing a team game. I'm not sure that the B1G is as strong this year and that if this team improves it might be more competitive in the B1G than I originally hoped would occur.
  15. No shame in loss to UConn. They have tremendous talent and play the game very well. Hope it is a good learning experience and get ready for NC State on Thursday.
  16. I'm not sure I'd put Jess on Stewart, let Blackburn and when Maddie Simon is in, try to defend her. The little guard is the one who can cause a lot of problems, Jefferson. View it as a learning experience.
  17. SDSU is a pretty good team. Well coached.
  18. Page had 12 against UConn including 3 3-Pointers.
  19. Villanova was superior at every position. They could get a shot at any time from any position. NU still lacks the player to beat someone off the dribble. NU was forced to shoot jump shots while Villanova got to the rim and hit perimeter shots. Effort was pretty good but execution was poor. Time to move on and hope players develop. Tougher teams are ahead than the Wildcats.
  20. Let us not be too anxious to play UConn. It will be a learning experience at best.
  21. Does Blackburn have the physical strength to match up with B1G Post players? I really like what I am hearing about her.
  22. Kearney didn't have much size. Hard to say what the impact is from that exhibition.
  23. I believe Havers has some skills but just gets manhandled inside by stronger players. She has never developed physically like I hoped she would. Also, I wonder if Kalenta is just getting time early and if she will disappear once the season begins in earnest.
  24. Will Havers start when the regular season begins? Is Blackburn a better option?
  25. OK, I understand why Romeo isn't playing. Probably good to get a look at the other players. We will need her outside scoring.
