  1. Pettaway has exceeded my expectations, though his shot selection is not always to my liking. I believe he is going to be All B1G which is quite an accomplishment. Webster is going to be a solid player, it's going to take some time, he is a young kid adjusting to life far, far from home. Gallegos, who was my top selection has not had to cast up as many shots as last year. He is still playing decent defense. I hope Ray has a game or two in him where he is unconcious shooting the ball.
  2. My point was based on the hope that NU could play at home the first two rounds. That would require a strong finish to the season.
  3. With NU hosting a regional, I think it will be difficult for the committee not to include Nebraska...unless we go 0-8 the rest of the season. The NCAA wants attendance.
  4. I like the group that NU is bringing in next season. Not to worried about what the Illini are getting.
  5. Sure you can. They've played well at home. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Against the good teams, on the road, they have had it handed to them. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Against teams similar to them on the road, they've been competitive. No reason to think otherwise until they do differently. Based on that, it's actually fairly easy to make a prediction about this team. OK, I cannot predict anything with this team except that they will play better at home than on the road. Let's beat the Illini, if Appling is out at MSU then we can play with them and Wisconsin can be beaten in Lincoln. I just can't look into the future. That's just me.
  6. Obviously we could. But my goal is to make the dance each and every year. So you can be damn sure I am going to be paying attention to what is needed to make it. Doesn't mean I think will, but I want to be aware of what is going on. And it makes no difference whatsoever what we are worried about anyway. It is what the team is worried about that matters. This nonsense about the fans having to only worry about the next game is ludicrous IMO. +1,000. So sick of people telling me I can't talk about the past and can't talk about the future. If all we are allowed to talk about is Illinois and the next game, this message board would be pretty dang boring. You are correct! I want desperately for NU to get to a post season tournament, I'm 62 and don't have as much time as some of you younger guys. You are right. These boards are for enthusiastic fans and speculation. That's what makes them interesting. It's the "old" coach in me that tends to be conservative.
  7. Biggs is gone. History. Support the players that are here, now, playing for NU.
  8. Cannot predict anything with this team. The margin of error is razor thin. Has this team dominated any conference opponent at home? Every "W" that can be scratched out by NU is going to be a plus. Focus on one game, one night.
  9. Can't we just focus on the next game? The cliche is old but true, play one game at a time and hopefully the TEAM gets better with each game.
  10. This game and the first MSU game are complete reversals. NU looked slow and unathletic in the first meeting in East Lansing and today the Spartans looked completely out of sorts. How does this happen? Proud of the Huskers for charging to this winning streak, I had my doubts earlier in the season. Still a long way to go. Old cliche, one at a time. #23 for MSU is going to be quite a player in the future. #23 for NU is pretty good.
  11. Somebody, anybody, explain to me what we try to do on offense? A few times a game it would be nice to have an option to throw it into a post down on the block. Jump shots are great when they fall, like they did for Michigan, otherwise it's a long, long, long night.
  12. Not much to say but to put this one in the rear view mirror. We do need to estalish some type of offensive presence in the post.
  13. Nice win by a team that keeps working. T has been spectacular.
  14. Based on tonight's performance....no!
  15. A game to forget and move forward to Saturday against NW.
  16. He is vastly improved from his frosh year at Texas Tech. I never saw this coming, but I'm pleased he has developed into a good player.
  17. Coaches I have liked over the years: Eddie Sutton, Billy Tubbs (he helped make the Big 8 relevant in BB), Bob Knight (as a coach, not the antics or the personality), Lute Olson, Danny Nee (still the best at NU), Johnny Orr, Ralph Miller (Hall of Famer for you young guys), Larry Brown (Denver Nuggets and KU) Al McGuire ("seashells and balloons") "Mean Gene" Keady, Johnny Oldham (Western Kentucky when they had Clem "the Gem" Haskins), Tom Apke, and the always quotable Abe Lemons. Another late edition, I loved "Stormin' Norm Stewart at Mizzou, sad he never made the Final Four. (dang that Tyus Edney, next to Danny Ainge's length of the floor drive as the best I remember) Today: Bill Self (a very nice guy), Rick Barnes (don't like Texas but I like the fact he doesn't make excuses), Bo Ryan, Roy Williams, Sean Miller, Mike Montgomery, Lon Kruger (a winner wherever he has been) and a guy named Tim Miles. Don't Like: Coach K, Jim "the Whiner" Boeheim, Tom Izzo, Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan, most coaches in the Big East (except Greg McDermott),
  18. Michigan St. losing to Georgetown today did B1G no favors. I'm impressed that Northwestern has totally changed their style of play during the season and have become a very solid team in conference play.
  19. Another road win against Ms Bucky Badger will be a further boost to confidence and conference standings. I don't know where the good play is coming from, but keep it going Huskers!
  20. A win today would continue the boost of confidence this team needs, not the least keeping us in the race for a bye in the conference tournament. Iowa seems to be very motivated. Today's game is huge.
  21. Don't know where this effort came from but what a great win. Hope it instills some much needed confidence in this team. Need K.G. to be at every game!
  22. Thanks for these updates Noah! I cannot get the radio feed over my computer here in Texas. Huskers are playing inspired!
  23. I agree!
  24. It's a cliche I know but focus on beating Indiana.
  25. This situation could be a simple case of "addition by subtraction."
