  1. B1G has not done well in either Men's or Women's tournaments. After personally watching every Big XII team in Austin (except Texas Tech) it seemed to me that B1G was superior. Tournament results don't bear that out. Kansas St. getting a win was unexpected, OK State losing not so much (Brittany Martin is a very nice player) Baylor and Texas are both superior to Ohio St. and Maryland. I was really taken back by how easily OU dispatched of Purdue but Sherry Coale knows what she is doing. B1G Women's BB is on the rise but has a way to go to get to the top level.
  2. Maybe Natalie Romeo will be the point guard next year. I would take a team full of players like her. Loved her answers in the press conference after Northern Iowa. Cincore is also an impressive young lady. Best wishes to this team. It is fun to follow Lady Husker Basketball.
  3. Sad ending to the season. Team needs some players to get healthy and others to develop. One of the incoming guards has got to take over at the point (though we've been spoiled by Moore and Theriot the past several seasons!) Romeo needs to work off the ball and someone needs to get the ball to Jess where she can score. We have much to look forward to for next season but the rest of the B1G is going to be tough as well.
  4. If the above is true, I'm not sure why we are playing. Washington should get some playing time.
  5. The '91 loss is by far the most devastating. NU had a very good team but didn't show up when it counted. Pete Gillen was a hot coach at Xavier at the time. I was in San Antonio when Baylor exposed NU and that was disappointing. The '86 team, though short handed, battled WKU the entire game. (mostly remember that game for Moe Iba's resignation in the post-game press conference.
  6. Hate to say this but I wondered yesterday if our victory over Michigan State kept them from being a 1 seed. MSU has nothing to cry about, they have a relatively easy passage to the Elite 8.

    WNIT

Good luck and stay healthy (as possible!)
  8. I watched her play Texas in Austin and she was over matched by the athletic guards of UT. Good competitor and KU wasn't very good. I was impressed that KU showed fairly well in the post season tournament.
  9. Replacing Shields and Parker might be more difficult than one might think.
  10. Tonight's game was a reminder of the old line, "it's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmy's and the Joe's!" We were over matched but gave good effort and a never say die attitude. But in the long run, I'll take talent and athleticism every time.
  11. Defense. That is why NU won tonight. It also did not hurt that Bucky Badger was a little uninspired. You had to like how everyone contributed to the victory!
  12. ESPN has always been a cheerleader for UConn and the rise of UConn coincides with the rise of ESPN.
  13. Will NU defend well enough to compete with Bucky Badger tonight?
  14. 1. White (when healthy) 2. Shields 3. Webster 4. Watson 5. Jacobsen 6. Parker 7. McVeigh 8. Morrow 9. Hammond 10. Fuller 11. Fuller
  15. Mike Gessell made two consecutive awful plays at the end. The Hawkeyes appear to be lost on the court.
  16. I guess the Public Schools don't have much of a chance in the Nebraska State Tournament.
  17. To meet the expectations of some, the new kids will have to play and play well.
  18. The program has been on a slide since it blew that big lead against Ohio State in the B1G Tournament two years ago. We still haven't recovered. We just need better players. But those aren't easy to find.
  19. A reliable shooter would be nice to have for this team. There were some open shots today that needed to be knocked down to get the team back in the game. I'm discouraged for the future. A performance like today will probably get them beat by Rutgers. Even with the number of returning players, I don't see us keeping pace in the B1G.
  20. Great effort tonight but our lack of interior defensive presence really hurt. Good job of containing Scaife but the the reserve guard Parker hurt us badly. We don't have an player that can consistently beat the defender off the dribble, penetrate, rise up and shoot a jumper. We are a team that has to screen, move and shoot well to defeat the more athletic teams. Hopefully, the Lady Huskers get the opportunity for some sort of post season play. The more these girls play together and mesh, the better for next season. Need to get Jess S. out of her funk and be more assertive. I was not aware that she might be injured. The Huskers will be competitive next season but probably finish in the middle of the B1G pack.
  21. A win over Rutgers gets us another match with .....Purdue! We just don't match up with the Boilers.
  22. I am crazy! But at least one media timeout per half is eliminated by going to the 4 Quarters.
  23. Checking on ESPN, it appears that several B1G schools have landed Top 100 players including Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan St., and of course Ohio State and Maryland. I will be watching with interest to see how the B1G teams fare in post season play. Baylor and Texas are head and shoulders above the rest of the Big XII. West Virginia has some athletes and a good coach but I think the B1G has more depth. B1G is behind the ACC, PAC 12, and SEC but maybe the margin is decreasing. Of course UConn is head and shoulders above all but Breanna Stewart is graduating so maybe there is hope for the future.
  24. No travelling called? Might as well run up and down the court without dribbling. Going to 4 quarters has sped up the women's games. Games should not take more than 2 hours to play and by reducing the # of media time outs that is accomplished. All the media time outs in the men's game really interrupts the flow and pace of play.
