I didn't have much hope that we could beat Iowa in Lincoln...but then it happened...sooo.

Last year my issue with the team was a lack of toughness. There were a number of instances where we figuratively or literally got hit in the nose and then tended to back down. In fairness, it may have been the result of the disappearance of a player or two early in the year, and the injuries to Sam and Allison. BUT, this year's team found the grit and toughness. I am very happy with that improvement. Maybe that is coaching. Maybe it is leadership. Maybe it is maturity. It doesn't necessarily matter; what matters is that we now seem to have it.

Game Day Essentials: Game #31 at Michigan
Huskerpapa replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Good lord, I hope that Eli doesn't have a Blaise type ankle injury. Even for someone who has a high ankle sprain, it seems he has been out an inordinately long time. -
The best thing we do is the Kevin James snippet that leads to a wild video montage of dancing huskers and so forth. Definitely pumps up the crowd. Honestly, the video group did a great job this year.

Without the intent to start an argument, I will add an observation. I watched him play two of his three games at state. He is, without question, an elite athlete. He has amazing hops and made a number of elite plays. BUT... Some of his gestures, his body language and occasional lethargic play concerned me a bit. Maybe it was simply an anomaly.

Thought I would revive this thread with a "rumor" I heard this week. We will be seeing a new floor in the arena next season.

Didn't have the b**ls to ask him. But I soooo wanted to.

Visited briefly with Juwan at the State Tournament today. What a good guy!

11 years ago today. Last game at the BOB. Students stormed the floor!

Hmm, how's this list looking? Any additions or subtractions?

I'm not kidding about this. This needs to be done.

I realize that; but what rules are in affect, if any, for use of a foreign players name, image or likeness? -

It also helps having our bigs , mostly Mast, turn into a pointpost.

What adds to Brice's minutes is his versatility. Yes, he is our starting PG; but he is also backing up at both the 3 and 4 positions in certain line-ups.

Ernie Ziegler, Adam Howard, Nate Loesner are our assistant coaches. They seem to mesh as a group and all appear to be well engaged on the sideline. Add in the supporting staff such as Joseph and Luca (and many others) leads me to believe this is one of the better coaching groups we have had. Danny had a good staff for one or two years and Cip had a good staff towards the end of his regime as well. I'm not 100% sure where all their responsibilities lie; but I have a pretty good idea. I simply love the individual and team development and cohesiveness I see on the floor. I also look at the players that currently are not in the 8-man rotation and see that some of them can potentially become rotational players. Of course that depends on whether they stay or transfer. Our present and future seems so much brighter.

Best 20 game start sinceā¦..

Isn't it a bit fascinating that our defensive coach is Loenser? If I recall correctly, they brought Howard in due to his defensive accumin as well. I do think the coaches mix and match well. -
uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 30- Rutgers
Huskerpapa replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You must be in my section. Many of us heard it and one of my sons yelled at the dude soon thereafter. The dude had zero situational awareness! -
I wonder if our football staff knows how good he could be

What makes it even more maddening, if WE did that type of grab and hold against our opponents, WE would be called for a foul(s)!!! -
The measure of the quality of a player is what the other team does to defend him. Without question teams "game plan" heavily for Keisei. Even last night, Rutgers ran a number of defenses with an eye on stopping Keisei. It is tough to rate players who played decades ago. Heck, they defend Keisei by holding and pushing. Two or three decades ago, he would live at the free throw line. Let's not even try to debate the diffences brought about by the three point line. There are also differences in the positions. Tough to compare Keisei to Hoppen. Yet to the teams they played during their era, they were the player that the other team concentrated on. Sooo, is Keisei a top ten player...perhaps.

Pffft. We play and CAN beat all comers. I simply want in the dance. I don't care where OR who we play. If we make it, we should not fear or worry about anyone. GBR.
