OT: Ouch, not college basketball related
Huskerpapa replied to Bugeaters1's topic in College Basketball
Holy shite. That was shocking. I don't know how many times I have went to the floor like that and not a splinter. A few floor burns yes, but... By the way, how long ago did this happen. No facemasks and an actual crowd! -
Banton is one of many on our team that can penetrate when we spread the floor. But like last year, defenses can collapse because we don't do a good job spreading the floor and we don't have players who can consistently knock down open looks; including three pointers. For many years now (really since Danny left) we have recruited scorers not shooters. We desperately, desperately need shooters to go along with the scorers.

Hmm...the focus should not be on an individual unless that individual is the coach. This is year two and it is his team and his players. Any player not buying into this program or judged to have the correct skillset is gone. Is that correct or incorrect? That said, it is the team that is struggling and/or failing. Each and every player should be preforming at or above expectations. Those expectations include consistency. I can think of one player that meets my expectation of a Big Ten type player. Again, consistency is a must. Can anyone justify more than one? And is it the same player

These two pieces of news go into the "winning the off season " column...

The good Lord knows what would happen if the Huskers would do something like that. Of course we have to make it to a bowl game first

In husker games during the first few games warnings were issued on two occasions...I believe

Is this the new normal: * face masks * social distancing * a wave with no handshake * sports with no fans...ever again * boorish politicians * me over us * husker fans remember greatness * lowered expectations * America isn't quite great * wait til next year husker fans Welcome to 2021.

Hard to justify a game like that ladies and gents. I can go player by player and point out their warts. If I can do that, opposing scouts or coaches certainly can. I get so very tired of having to wait for next year...again. Someone please point out the light at the end of this seemingly endless tunnel; but of course, that light shan't be attached to a train like it was tonight.

Walker suspension is ENDING IN ? DAYS at Purdue
Huskerpapa replied to skerbball's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Walker will help but will not be a savior. It is tough to shoot in our conference. Most teams are athletic. Most teams have length. Most teams challenge EVERY shot. Most teams can rebound. Most teams can defend. Most teams can shoot and make free throws. Most teams can control tempo. Most teams can adjust. Most teams are built with three star or better recruits. Most teams are as talented if not more talented than ours. We need to improve in nearly every facet of our game...but we do seem to be trying to do so. -
I will attempt to take this an additional step. A good coach will have a good system and recruit players to fit that system. Look around...the NCAA is filled with a number of good coaches. Great coaches will have systems and recruit to their system HOWEVER, they also have the wherewithal to adjust/tweak their systems to adjust to their players skillset. Many coaches are hesitant or too stubborn to make those necessary adjustments. By the way, that LJS reviewer is pretty special...I hope they keep him around and perhaps enhance his pay a bit ☺
