Nebraska vs Oregon St. baseball Game Thread
brfrad replied to Bugeaters1's topic in Other Huskers Sports
We got to start making contact. 5 out of the 1st 6 have struck out. -
Except PSU. Chambers will finish his 8th year with 0 tourney appearances.

That's because he tries too hard to draw fouls. He goes 1 on 3 at times. That does not work. -

I forgot to mention, we also didn't put conference teams at the line. We were 4th in conference games for opponent free throw attempts. This year, we are 11th. -

Roby, Palmer, and Allen combined for 51 points. That would have been enough to beat NW alone. This team goes as Watson goes. A no show tonight, and during our losing streak. He shot 2 - 4 from 3, I believe, but 0 - 6 from 2. -

The difference between last year and this year is our ability to get to the free throw line. We led the conference in free throw attempts last year in conference games. This year we are 6th. -

It wouldn't have mattered. Roby would have needed to score 45 for us tonight to have a chance, with how lousy are defense played. -

Nebraska (15-11) vs. Penn State (9-16) Game Thread

Hopefully, that gets Nana going. Just absolute awful defensive performance. 95 points should never be allowed against anybody, especially if you pride yourself on defense. -

One thing we did in our last 2 games is play defense. We have done enough on offense to win this game. We have played like horse manure on defense. -

13 has the worst shot I have seen from a BCS player. He shoots like a junior high player and they are going in. Why not? -
Michigan hit a last second shot to beat Minnesota at home. No way we should concede that game. Anything can happen.
-
It would be different if Nana was shooting like he did in non conference. He would be able to get a few minutes. Right now, he struggles on defense, and is ice cold from 3. That's not getting one minutes.
-
Plus, Leach had some baggage and wasn't going to get another job. Texas Tech hiring Bob Knight would be an equal hiring.
-
I got us a 10 seed playing OSU, followed by Michigan State. The best I could get us is a 6 seed. If we get to a 6 seed, we are in so it won't matter (we have to win all our games)
-
Copeland helped our shooting from 3. In conference games before he got hurt, our starters shot 63 - 180 (.350) from 3. After Copeland got hurt, starters are shooting 30 - 112 (.268). If we can get Palmer and Watson back to shooting like they did before Copeland's injury, along with Roby against NW, and Allen against Purdue we are back to a tough team to beat.
-
He did what he has done at previous stops. He turned the program around. I hope we do finish 3 - 2 with a win or 2 in the BTT, and Miles finds out how to win a game in the NCAA tournament, and sticks around for as long as he wants to be here. He is actually comparable to Nee in that he brought talent in, but fans question the X's and O's. In his first 7 years, he had 1 neutral court win in the post-season against Arkansas Little Rock. He had 4 home wins in the NIT. If Nebraska gets a home game last year, like they should have. IMHO Miles has his first post season win.

The RPI is horrible as evidenced by our ranking. KenPom is definitely a good barometer. I've been looking at Sports-refence.com. According to their rating system, we are having our 2nd best season ever behind 1990-91 when we went 26 - 8. Looking at the Big 10 tournament, running a few scenarios through the Big 10 Generator. We would face Illinois or Minnesota in the first round, if we finish 3 - 2. Need to play Minnesota, and hope they get below 50 in NET. We don't match up well with them, but give us another Q1 win.
-
I forgot that we went to 20 games this year. I was trying to figure out how I had like 28 extra games from last year.
-
Big 10 this year is 121-32 (.791) in non-conference Last year they were 137-45 (.753) in non-conference by my count including many bad losses. I go to back to the saying "You're never as good as you think you are, or as bad as think you are." It wasn't as bad last year as the national media made it out to be, nor is it as good this year.
-
We were not playing like we did in the non-conference, but I wouldn't say we were playing like dog crap. We beat PSU and Indiana (by 15 on the road), we lost to MSU by 6, and blew a big lead against Rutgers. We were either down by a couple points or tied when Copeland went down against OSU. Thor had an offer from Utah. As for offers, Roby's best offer was UNI. He is a possible 1st round pick in the NBA draft next year. Harris had an offer from Auburn. KD had an offer from K-State. Brady had an offer from Creighton. I would say Thor, Harris, KD, and Brady had better offers than Nebraska.
-
I would think that, but most of the national at least have us in the first four out or next four out. He has us in neither. I know Shelby Mast from USA Today, and Jerry Palm from CBS Sports have us in the first four out. So, the national media think we are close, except for Luinardi *who I think does it to get more clicks from Nebraska fans.
-
Creighton can't even be in because they have a losing record.
-
Luinardi still hates Nebrasketball. Has Indiana and Oklahoma in, but Nebraska is not in his first four out or next four out. Not to mention ASU, number 71 in the NET. Nebraska is 38. And, Temple is the last team in, with 1 Q1 win and 56 in the NET. I am not saying Nebraska should be in, but the teams he has of ahead of them don't belong either.

It's a new rule this year. However, the hold part wasn't there, IMO.
