How did our bowling and rifle shooting teams do? As I recall these were staples of the Byrne years.
-
Another nice Roby game vs Croatia today. 9 pts on 4/4 shooting with one three pointer, led team in rebounds in 25 minutes of play with two impressive slams, and best of all, 1 turnover in the summer league's highest- turnover game.

Let's say in a hypothetical case that some player wants to finish his degree because he likes his professors so he or she remains at NU. Would they be able to walk back on to the team in that case if they wanted to do so?

A Contest to tide you over for the next few weeks

"I Shot the Sheriff" Original: Bob Marley Cover: Eric Clapton I know this is sacrilege, but I prefer Old Slowhand's version. Since I don't have the skills to put this into the reply, you'll just have to YouTube the versions yourselves. Have a safe Fourth, everyone. -
Any chance of changing the title of this thread?

Damn, I once got him to speak at the Pius X sports banquet. Paid him with a gift certificate to Tony and Luigis. RIP

Iowa will have the inside track if he turns out to have really small hands.

I suppose there is some remote possibility we could play against him in the Caymans. -
Happy 75th birthday to Coach Danny Nee

I still have one of those ties. Have a happy one, Danny. You are still just a youngster. -
Quelle tristesse!

But a couple of conference wins in the tourney would make us 21-12. Pretty hard to believe we are not bubble-worthy then, especially if the team has gelled and we are on some sort of streak. As all have observed, we are waaay too early to be thinking about this yet. I would just prefer to have happy thoughts about next year over the summer...especially if the Red Sox don't perk up.
-
I watched some of the final but had trouble following the puck on tv. I am glad basketballs are not the same size.
-
With 11 noncom and 20 conference games, 9-2 and 10-10 would put us at least on the bubble before the conference tourney. At this time of the year, there is no reason to not believe this is possible. Why go through the summer with a glass half empty? It's going to get hot and we will need the hydration.

Finally, underdogs to root for in contests where I don't hate the favorite either. Basically, the Dubs seem like pretty good guys under Kerr (with the possible exception of Green) but karma intervened to even things up by removing Durant from the equation. And I once took an interest in hockey by watching the Bruins while spending some time in Maine but again it seems karma has decreed that Boston has had enough success in the past year. So give the dogs a bone.

Big 10/ACC Challenge...Impact on Home games
jimmykc replied to Nighthawk's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The highlight of the 1983 game was a tremendous tip-in dunk by Curtis Moore near the end of the game. Came as a huge surprise because Moe barely used him that year. The next year he specialized in dunking. -
I finally got around to reading all of Norm's thoughts and looking at all the clips. I am now convinced that this year's team will be an enigma wrapped in a mystery inside a riddle and covered under a big dollop of poutine until the league season begins. It appears to my aging eyes that Mack and Green are the only sure starters and most of the rest will feel that they should also be starters. Who will end up being a pouter or locker room downer? Who will hit the weight room with a vengeance? Who will be the defensive stopper and sacrifice being the go-to guy on offense? Who will avoid injuries and be more concerned with team wins than individual stats? We really have no handle on how any of these players (except Thor) will mesh in a team situation. Big job for coaches, fun time for fans. I can hardly wait to see how this year plays out.

I hear he has got Chris Weber lined up to be his special "time out" assistant.

College Basketball --- laying down the law (maybe)
jimmykc replied to AuroranHusker's topic in College Basketball
Hmmm...De Sousa was originally suspended for two years by the NCAA. Now they have decided he can return to KU for this season. Like Roby, he has until May 29 to decide. That certainly de-escalated rapidly. -
I did. Maybe we should keep this going until we find out what happens to Tim. Does anyone have any news on Eaton? And I have heard the NCAA is still searching for some of Sallie's old homework.
-
Thanks, I think I'll leave this up for awhile since there may have been someone else not diligent enough to uncover these nuggets. I suppose you are now going to tell me that Roburt Sallie isn't coming either.

This was reported yesterday and probably already familiar to all but Brady Heiman is going to South Dakota and Michael Lewis to UCLA. Somehow I couldn't seem to find it on HHC. Please remove the thread if I am just not looking in the right place.

Hey, Creighton once hired Willis Reed and had some modest success. Maybe Michigan will do as well. Might even be able to get the next Benoit Benjamin.

Nebraska has never been to the Big Dance
jimmykc replied to huskerbaseball13's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Meh, sounds like he was just playing to his audience there. But he does seem like someone who is pretty tone deaf when it comes to rivalries. I don't see Moos going out of his way to dis the Colorado basketball team even though we had a pretty good rivalry with their fans at one time. Pollard should be denigrating KU or Iowa if he wants to be more relevant to iowa State basketball rivalries-i.e. teams they actually play. I'll be interested to see if there is any sort of reply to your emails.
