I try to make sure you guys are paying attention...

I'm interested to see where Nick Fuller will fit into all of this, PT, rotations, etc. I'm also convinced Miles will bring in a JUCO 2/3 that will step right in and help. I too think Tai has a big upside, many people where simply swayed by what Fran Drescher said of his "Top 25" status.

Tai needs to spend the summer in the gym doing Jimmy Chitwood drills over, and over, and over again...

What are the odds Smith starts in the Fall? I'll say 80/20 he does.

Will {SEC school with an opening} come after Miles?

If Pitino leaves Minnesota, the Gophers would LOVE to have Lou Holtz back... -

Better All-time Volunteer, Bernard King or Dale Ellis? -

I could have sworn Tennessee just extended Martin's contract after their Tourney run. Was very surprised to see him leave, but Berkley beats the hell out of Knoxville. As far as Miles is concerned, there's a better chance they hire Dan Jenkins. -
Stu has been the color man for the Lakers since the Magic/Kareem glory days. Speaking of the Lakers , I'm hoping to see Dougie Basketball AND Kevin Love in the home Golds next year.

Monte Harrison Basketball Highlights

Sat next to Ed Weir's grandson at a Husker football game several years ago & he went on & on about his athletic exploits... IIRC, he thought Ed could have his number retired in more than just football. Pretty cool story for a Nebraskan. Another multi-sport star who played at Kearney State was drafted by multiple pro leagues is Tom Kropp from Aurora. He's a living legend in Nebraska, and has been coaching the Lopers for nearly 25 years. And, of course, Tom Osborne starred in several sports for Hastings College. He was a pretty fine coach, best to ever coach in the Big8, Big 12 & Big Ten! I spoke to Ed himself several times, he would always come back to Superior for an annual track meet held in his honor. And yes Tom Kropp was the MAN. -

Don't forget about Ed Weir from Superior, the first multi-sport Star and All-American at Nebraska. Go Wildcats! -
I believe they call those a "banana hammock", and they should not be worn by the faint of heart.... especially in RED!

Thought it was funny when the OWH pointed out that absolutely NOBODY watched the Bluebirds on TV this year. Their ratings were worse than re-runs of Hee Haw.

I live here in the Twin Cities, and this was met with a collective YAWN, or treated as some kind of a joke. Reusse (Trib columnist) pointed out the Gophers now have the most wins in NIT history with 32, meant as a slap in the face, not a source of pride. They get Dre Hollins back next year & Mathieu at the point...... not sold on Elliot or Big Mo at all.

My only question is, WHO'S going to Hawaii for the Holiday Tournament. Huskers/Witchita would be a sweet match-up. Maybe beat up on the Buffs like the old days, or maybe Big Red vs. the Blue Demons. Can't wait to hit the beach in my Husker gear!

B1G Offseason Player Departures

Any relation to Chief Kickingstallionsims? (Sorry, I just wanted an excuse to say "Kickingstallionsims"... oops, there it is again, Kickingstallionsims). I spent a summer in Champaign/Urbana and am up on my Illinois trivia, If you're ever there stop in @ O'malley's 12 midnight. -
B1G Offseason Player Departures

Look for Chief Illiniwek to make a BIG jump next season. They redshirted some stud players (the Nebraska model) and have star recruits on the way from Chicago. Would love to see Michigan and Michigan St. come back to the pack a bit. Is this the season, dare I say it, when we WIN the Conference? Here's hoping Nick Fuller can channel his inner "Polish Rifle". -
Thanks Dimes, I love Petteway's game but he still has some holes. Outside shooting, a mid-range game, and improved handles. This is nothing but speculation, but I think he's in Lincoln 2 more years...
-
I believe Andre Smith led the Big 8 in scoring during his 1980 POY season... Think about having a 6'6" Center dominate the way he did, it boggles the mind.
-
Why do you think these programs are less than ethical? Calipari has been caught cheating everywhere he's been, and UConn was banned from any postseason do to poor grades.

Much is made of our " 0'fer" in the tournament and breaking the proverbial seal. I'm of the opinion that we'll make a Sweet 16 or even an Elite 8 run, rather than just winning "a" game. We're certainly as talented as those Butler or VCU teams that went on their recent runs. I also have faith Miles will strike gold with one of 3 remaining scholarships...

When you do things that haven't been done in more than 15 years, that's historic. Is there more out there for this team, sure, but this was still a historic season. The past 16 years are the perspective through which we view what happened this season. This season was satisfying on so, so many fronts. But, they're saying next season has a chance to be "historic". Winning 20/21 games & another top 5 finish wouldn't qualify IMO....... just sayin' On that basis alone, you're probably right, but next year won't be defined by win totals or anything that happens if during the regular season. It will be defined by how they handle the certain increase in expectations and whether this team can take the next step of winning a game or two when they get back to the dance, because that will be the expectation. If they do that, then it will undoubtedly be a historic season. I don't know if that's how ESPN approached things, but frankly, it's difficult to put a definition on what will or won't be disappointing on this side of things because there are so many variables that will impact what happens next year that we can't remotely anticipate yet. But this team absolutely has a chance to be "historic" independent of what their win total or finish in the conference ends up being. Agreed. Especially if Nick Fuller is the next Cris Cresswell...

I'll never take making the Tournament for granted, HOWEVER : Historic in my opinion would be winning the BIG, and a sweet 16 run. We've seen seasons better than this one, perspective my friends...
