Just to refresh our memories....what are the quadrant rankings? Would beating the #57 (Okie State) on a neutral court be Q1, Q2? Can somebody post how they grade out quadrant wins?

Nebraska (5-1) vs. Clemson (5-1) Game Thread
bball23 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
GREAT WIN!!! I am not a "must" win guy at all in the early season, but that is definitely an "important" win! SO PUMPED!!! -
REALLY hope we can get a "W" tonight. And also would be HUGE if the B10 can do well in this challenge. The better the perception of the B10, the better chance we have to make the dance. Not as many "bad" losses and more opportunities at "good" wins. Plus, the National media loves the ACC, so would be great if the B10 can fare well in this. Already did well in the Big East challenge, so this would be a nice feather in our cap.

I wasn't going to chime in and I love the discussion overall. I personally am not going to panic one bit. Not at all. Yes, we struggled last night and we looked stagnant at times. But I truly believe this team will be fine. I personally get sick and tired of the "jumping off the cliff" approach most people have after a game. Its basketball!!! Its going to happen, and let me warn you....it will happen again this year. We have such a football mentality in this State where all is doom and gloom with a loss. In basketball you get 30 games....we ain't winning em' all. TCU lost at home to Lipscomb last night...Nova lost at home to Furman...I could give you 10 more example just this year where the "better" team didn't win. Our history I think is what frustrates the fans the most. But I have seen so many people say "Welp, same as last year." We finished 4th in the B10 last year. Last I checked...not too shabby. Yes, ultimately we didn't make the goal of the NCAA tourney due to a "down" B10 season, but it shouldn't take away the fact that we had a pretty darn year last year and if not for that last 3 pointer that Kansas made against us, who knows, maybe last year we dance? I personally get so sick though of people throwing the team under the bus after a single game. We have 25 more games to prove ourselves and hopefully get better. Hell, had we shot decent from the 3 point line (a ton WIDE open) then we are right in that game last night. Unfortunately we went 5-23 and that isn't gonna get it done. I for one still think this team is going to do great this year. The key will be to steal a few tough wins and not drop games to teams we should lose too.

I would think you would have NO problem walking up and getting tickets. Or you can buy them online. I went on Stubhub and some are going for as low as $6.99.

I just love the fact that B10 is showing well in the non-conference. That is what absolutely killed the perception of the B10 last year which then left us on the outside looking in with a 4th place finish in the B10. I cheer for every single B10 team in the Non-Conf...the better the conference is, the more room for "error" come conference season. Better chance at quality wins, and less "bad losses." I for one am just happy the B10 is showing so well in the Non-Conference. A lot of B10 teams in tourneys this week and then the B10/ACC next week will be another great test for the B10.

THIS...would love to be 10-2 going into Maryland. 11-1....gravy on top! @Clemson, @Minnesota and the neutral court games vs Texas Tech/USC/Okie State look to be the toughest "on paper" Would LOVE to get these two games in KC, come home to beat W. Illinois and head to Clemson undefeated.

Leaving WV....will NU look at him? -
Per Robin has requested his release.....crap!

And there it is....my "source" was dead on (sadly!).

Sounds like Kenya Hunter has taken the job at UCONN. Not good.
-
What I like is that his team in Florida had like 8 D1 players and 4 of them were top 100 kids. So he had to bring it everyday in practice. And facing good competition every day can only help with the speed/athleticism he will see at the D1 level. Maybe he can be our next James Palmer!
-
As if I didn't love this team enough already, they go out and do this. I'm proud of the young men, Coach Miles for standing up for what they believe in. I know you can say to "ignore" it, but unless you are in this situation and deal with us, who are we to judge? I for one am happy when people use their platform in a positive way. The players message is "Hate Will Never Win" doesn't mention the guys name that does the video, doesn't directly mention sex, gender, race...Evan Taylor said "Love one another" NOTHING wrong with that message, and I'm damn proud these players are on our team!

Add Washington as well.

Nebraska on the Selection Committee Board
bball23 replied to hhctony's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Lunardi's logic is what bothers me. On one hand he will say "Well, they don't have any "bad losses"" but for NU, "No good wins" So a double standard, as we really don't have any "bad losses". Then he will mention that if ND can become healthy they have a shot to get considered? A team that has lost 7 straight games. So if they lose like 10 straight, then get a few guys back they can work their way in? By that logic, do we get more credit for beating a full strength Minnesota team? Or losing to St. John's when they were full strength? Or losing to UCF with Fall was still playing? Of course not. We just gotta keep winning and see what happens. Tons happen in conference tourney's as well that can help/hurt us. If we keep winning, we will work our way in. -
I have been and always will be a Miles supporter. As long as he is coaching the team I have been rooting for over the past 30 years, he's my guy! If he would do something to break the rules or get us into NCAA violations then I would have a hard time supporting him. I just don't understand why people piss and moan all the time about coaches. Leave that to the A.D. and let him make the decision. Yes, we pay to go see them pay, but you don't have too. We all get frustrated at times, but I can guarantee you it isn't from a lack of effort on our coaches part. They put in a TON of time. We show up on game days and think they should do this, or do that. NONE of us know what has gone on all week in the training room, practice, film study, grades, classroom issues, etc....We watch a game a few times a week and all of a sudden think we are experts.

Any way to "sticky" this page and keep it up top?

Double bye (4th place) not out of the question
bball23 replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Double BYE and its not even debatable (IMO). If we get the double bye, that means we have won a good share of games to end the season. Not only that, some on here want the chance to get another win with a lower seed. You are also taking the risk of a late "bad" loss. If you get the double bye, you have a "better" chance to play a better team and not even risk the "bad" loss. Lets just keep on winning! -
Nebraska on the Selection Committee Board
bball23 replied to hhctony's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It is impossible to predict at this time how many "wins" is the magic number. We have to remember that all of the other "bubble" teams have 8-10 games left as well and will lose their fair share. Its easy to look at schedules now and say "Well they only have 6 losses right now, none are bad, 1 is good." Well, 10 games from now that same team could have 12 losses with 2 more "bad" losses, etc....Last time I checked all of the other P5 teams have all of their conference games left as well as conference tourney. Meaning, every single night, teams are winning/losing games. And since we are in conference season, 1/2 of each conference is losing games every single night. Let's see if we can get the win tonight and move on. -
Minnesota's loss dropped them to #100 in the RPI last night. According to my CBS site, we dropped from 66 to 70 last night. GOTTA win this road game tonight!

Rumour du jour: Possible Jordy Transfer
bball23 replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Well, let’s hope the rumor isn’t true. But where there is smoke.... -
Purdue is very, very good. You have to hope NU can make a TON of 3's to stay in the game early. Your hope in games like this one is that you give yourselves a chance the final 4 minutes of the game. I just think this one is going to be tough to overcome. I hope I'm wrong, but Purdue is an Elite 8 type team. I am excited to see Husker Nation panic on social media as they do with every single loss we have. That's always fun. Especially in a LONG basketball season. (sarcasm should be noted in this post)
-
First off, we have to win the next 3 games. HAVE too! After that I would be tickled to get 1 of 2 on the road. NW is actually starting to play like people thought they would. Purdue is going to be VERY tough. If either of the games were at home I would feel much better. We need to focus on these next 3. The crowds will not be overly into the games so the players need to bring their own energy. We simply cannot have one of these "bad" losses we have had the past few years.
-
I think we can win 2. The most "likely" in my opinion would be BC and Minnesota (with both being at home). If we could somehow sneak one more win out over the other three I would be very happy. The Kansas game will probably be the most fun game at PBA this year, especially on a Saturday night. I would love to see us hang around in that game and allow the crowd to stay very involved. Gotta take care of business tomorrow night. First things first.
