I'm sure most of you are aware there's a Lincoln-ite and UNL grad on The Voice. She's a pretty big NU fan. You should consider voting for her. There's an app for it, you can do it on NBC.com, too. It's what Husker fans do for other Huskers. I'm appealing to your Husker-ness. Vote! Do it!

It's an eight game series every year. There will always be teams that don't play from each conference. I know that - the point is: why isn't it 10? Lawyers Crayton strikes again... Never trust a CU lawyer... http://law-schools.startclass.com/compare/89-90/University-of-Nebraska-vs-Creighton-University

Gotta think the transfer rules make it unlikely she comes here. If they can get around extra year of eligibility loss, her and Shepard would be formidable for just about any team to deal with.

One of the bigger moments of Miles being out coached was in the Creighton game two years ago. Late in the game, it was close, CU was in bounding and Miles made a substitution, I think Pitchford came out. Immediately, before the player had left the court McDermott subbed in their big guy. CU in bounded, he got position on the block, got the layup and the foul and essentially was the end of the game. The details might not be exact, but it was that type of situation. Situational awareness is a big part of in game coaching. That said, I thought NU got a lot better this year not by any strategic adjustments that I could notice, but more-so because guys like Jacobson and Morrow got better throughout the year. That and the last six or seven games, including the Big Ten Tourney, you saw the guys figure out how much urgency they had to play with to win at this level. You saw their play jump dramatically. Didn't necessarily translate into wins, but there seemed to be a light bulb that went on. If they carry that over, you'll see a much better team next year in terms of Wins and Losses, I believe. Some of that may have been Beckner, IDK, but I'm not sure I'd say it was an X's and O's deal.

Also, I think we're deluding ourselves if we don't think that guys like Hunter and Mo don't want their shot at a HC gig.

If we're going to make the hire internally, Ali isn't the guy most inline for that spot, or at least he shouldn't be. Eaton would be the internal hire if we're looking at qualifications and experience. He's the one Coach Miles sent out on the road (oh, and they signed one of his guys, too, btw...). He's been with Miles for several years now, before Nebraska, even. I don't know if he'll get the job or even a look, but if they go internally, he'd be more qualified for it than Ali would.

Ranking Our probable Starting Lineup for Next Year

I think it's ok to have a healthy dose of skepticism for any freshman that comes in. You never really know until they show up on campus how good they'll be. We saw a lot from Watson that I think shows if he continues to develop will be an excellent player at this level. -
I'm glad to hear Miles can beat Bruce Weber for a recruit.

Ranking Our probable Starting Lineup for Next Year

Man, the line between "gotta be real", pessimism and trolling is so blurry... But you're right he didn't start over Benny. When he started, he started over Tai Webster, the team's third leading scorer, who averaged more than 10 points a game. Watson also initiated the offense most of the time when he was on the floor, regardless of whether Benny was on the floor or not, improved dramatically as a defender over the course of the season. I don't know if he's a top third PG in the Big Ten, but he's not bottom third, I'm confident in saying that. -
I think one of Clemson, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech or Florida State would be most likely opponents. Clemson or Georgia Tech would be most preferred since we haven't seen them yet. NC State would have been an attractive match-up I think, but they're lined up for a home game this year, if they hold to a strict home/away alternation. And Nebraska would likely be lined up for a road game after hosting Miami this past season. So methinks NC St would be a good option for NU, anyway. Not sure the Wolfpack would share our sentiment, though. I wrote that wrong, NC State hosted Michigan last year. They're likely a road team next year. Not sure how strictly they hold to the home/road switching thing.

Nebraska will not pursue further postseason play

My guess was the outside shot at playing in the NIT. They sent out for the CBI, too. I'm just guessing no decision had been made at that point. -
Who is in line for a big jump next year?
uneblinstu replied to khoock's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
My only concern with Morrow is that his foot will get in the way. Plantar can linger for a long time. We've seen it before with Nebrasketball players, too. (Toney McCray, anyone?) If he can get over that, I think he'll have a significant role. I'm just hoping it doesn't hold him back and prevents him from reaching the level we all think he can get to. -
Bag chaffing sounds painful.

I'll be curious to see who gets paired up with Portland and Northridge.

Was looking at the field today and it looks like Butler is the team no longer in the field. Looking at the field: UCLA suffered about the same fate we did. New Mexico wasn't much better. Dayton is a 7 seed. A&M is a 3 seed and won the SEC regular season title. Virginia Tech was a 3 seed in the NIT. Portland & Northridge were both pretty terrible. I don't know anything about what any of these teams lose or bring in, but based of this years results, A&M and Dayton will be the favorites. NU should be competitive vs. everyone else. I'd love to see NU matchup with UCLA.

We can dream. Unfortunate reality of the situation is that is is currently about a 1 in 300 chance per Vegas odds. One dollar moneyline dog parlay on the last three pays 215 bucks.
