  1. Crazy what a little confidence will do for ya. (and some pretty good talent doesn't hurt)
  2. Could be. Also might simply be close to halftime.
  3. Only got 5 turnovers. Not terrible. MSU sharing the ball pretty well, though.
  4. So, let's see this announcer isn't a stat's guy, can see how good a guy is by the swagger in his shot, thinks the eye test is the true measure of a player and thought McQuaid had position before Shields got there. This guys is something.
  5. This changes next year, mark it down. Seems like we've been saying that about the NU/CU rivalry for, oh, the last 15 years or so.
  6. Nope, not Steve Harley. Who the hell is Steve Harley? Had the best dreads in school history until Mr. Rivers showed up.
  7. Nope, not Steve Harley.
  8. If Auroran or someone hasn't posted by the time I leave for work in the morning, I'll let ya'll in on the secret.
  9. They use a minimum of 100 as the threshold. Same guy holds the #3 spot for career and season, if you can believe that. Here's a little hint, he hit the minimum number 3's in a season to qualify, 25. Also, if AW3's career ended today, and that would be tragic if it did, he would end it with the highest career 3% in school history. He'd also bump Bear Jones off the #6 spot in single season %, too.
  10. For makes, yes. He's #3, actually. He hit 80 that freshman year. But in terms of percentage, he's not anywhere close. He took a lot of shots. Wasn't a terrible shooter, but wasn't amazing, either. He made more 3's than free throws.
  11. Nope. It's a deeper cut than that.
  12. I did look it up for fun. #3 is impossible. I don't even know if Shamus would know it. 6 is not quite as hard. I know, right? Bear Jones at least makes sense. I don't want to give away #3 just yet... Shamus will know it because he just knows that stuff. And because he's the one that puts all that information together...
  13. Nobody's admitted to cheating and looked up the #3 and #6 single seasons in NU history? #3 is so of the radar, I'd be surprised if anyone that isn't Shamus McKnight would know it off the top of their head.
  14. Ray Gallegos would be the guy who MADE a lot of threes; Is that the question, or, is it 3FG%? Percentage. RayRay doesn't come anywhere close to the top 10 in that category. He is #2 in terms of total made in a season with 83 in 2012-13.
  15. Wouldn't disagree, but where do we get the scholarships? TBD. We've seen attrition every year, I'd imagine we'll see it again. I have no doubt we'll see it again this year. Miles isn't going to keep a player not contributing and lose out on a player that can contribute. It's probably never a fun conversation but this is Big Boy basketball. Unless kids like Hammond can magically get a lot better in the off-season, he is going to find more pine time than court time. Miles isn't going to kick a kid out of the program. He'll be painfully honest with them, but he won't force them out. He could have done that a handful of times and hasn't. Sometimes the kid gets the message and moves on and sometimes they decide to stick it out (Benny). He'll have a couple of those conversations after the season. We'll see what the result ends up being.
  16. I believe #1 and #2 single season are Conklin and Cochron in either order. I think Cary was slightly better, single season. Without looking, of course. CC was #2 and #9 in terms of percentage. BC was #1 in 2004. Go peek at his percentage. It was ridiculous.
  17. White and his .441 3 point pace isn't even on target for a top 10 mark in a single season. He is on pace to challenge for the most 3's made in a season, however. If he continues at this pace, figuring for just the games we know NU will play, so 13 more, he's on pace for 87. Season record is 89. If he can keep up his pace in conference play, he'll blow it away. If you're intersted in thses things, he's on a 5-3-2 pattern for makes. Hit 5 vs. NW and Rutgers, 3 vs. Indiana and Minnesota and 2 vs. Iowa and Illinois. If he hits 10 every 3 games, he'll break the record. Certainly within his capability. Without looking, can anyone name me the #1 single season 3 point shooter? Who was it, what was his percentage? For kicks, name me the #3 and #6 as well.

  19. I just went back and watched the highlights. Couple of thoughts: - White could be a heckuva setter. - I really hope we see Morrow clean up the offensive boards more like we've seen lately. That put back dunk was noice.
  20. Oh, sure, there are always a few.
  21. If this kid can play, it'd be nice to get him and a JUCO C.
  22. A lot of it depends on who they get the wins against. To get to 18 wins, they're going to have to win at least two games most people don't expect them to win. That means they have to win the toss-up home games vs. Michigan and Ohio State. That won't be easy, but it is do-able. They must take care of business with Rutgers and Penn St. x 2. They have to get those 5. They probably won't be expected to win any of the other games as things stand right now. Who do the other two or three wins come against? Wisconsin? Possible. Northwestern? Perhaps. Those are the two most likely. They'll need a big upset, though. If they go nuts and pick up a win over Maryland and/or Purdue at home then 18 wins will get them into the NIT fairly easily. If they merely take care of business, at home without the benefit of a major upset, they might be only NIT bubbleicious. An NIT home game or two wouldn't be a terrible thing for this team.
  23. You wonder if McVeigh is one of the guys suffering from illness this week. Miles said there were several guys who missed practice some this week, he may have been one of them. Thought he did some nice things when he was in there. Might have been part of the reason that only 8 played, and only 7 played significant minutes. When a team goes into a zone, I love to see Jack in the game. When he posts on or around the free throw line, good things happen. I did like the tight rotation, though. Think that group could make a lot of trouble for a lot of teams. Supplement with Fuller and Hammond as necessary.

  25. Michigan St. game is a game they can come out swinging and see happens. Michigan is going to take our best game of the year to win at home. It's entirely possible that happens. If the Purdue game was at home and Maryland was on the road, that might be a workable scenario to get to two wins. I think Purdue might be gettable at home. They seem a little prone to lapses on the road and seem to struggle with good shooting teams in the little I've seen of them. Maryland is just going to be a bear regardless of where we find them, but basketball is a funny game, so who knows, but I think it's going to be very hard to get 2 wins in these next four. More than that and I'd be shocked. Michigan is a big, big game for this team.
