I know you're somewhat joking, but to put it into words Every year you play 18 games against 13 teams. 5 Home and Aways (10 games against 5 teams) 8 games either home or away (8 games against 8 teams) Whatever teams you played home and away one year you won't play home and away the next. And you'll play h/h with every time 5 times every 13 years...assuming the B1G stays at 14 teams.

Nebraska has played only once against MSU three straight years. There is no scenario that covers the schedule in a 14-team league from year-to-year. It literally is an ever-evolving year by year situation. No rhyme or reason, seemingly... I'm not so sure about that. I don't think it's random scheduling. I think it's simply that they started over when they added Rutgers and Maryland. Of course they started over. 14-team leagues are unwieldy. The 12-team scheduling was perfect, 14 not so much. That doesn't mean there's not a pattern to how they're scheduling things.

Roby's gonna have a bunch of guys to beat out. I don't expect him to start from day one. He'll be in the rotation, I think, but I'm not expecting him to start right away. -

I heard them. That was pretty eerie being so silent and the only thing I heard was Kent's voice. From across the arena. And I know he wasn't talking that loudly. I didn't hear Kent and Matt, I did hear the Rutgers guys, though.

@KU next season is the word on the street... Yes, I've heard.

Considering what we know about the schedule next year and if the rumors are true about the big matchup with a Big 12 team are true, next seasons schedule could be pretty entertaining.

I'd love to see us average 91 points a game. We'd win a lot of 'em. -
So, the past two years, NU has had home and homes vs. NW, PSU, Purdue, Rutgers, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland and Illinois. Presumably that means we'll see home and homes vs. MSU, Michigan and OSU. It will be interesting to see who the other two are.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 24 - Rutgers
uneblinstu replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yeah, that's probably a good place to start. -
I'm not even sure what to say... - I probably should start with Shavon. That was absolutely terrifying. Fortunately, the worst case seems to have been averted. I've seen reports that he has movement and that he was unconscious for a while. Miles said the doctors and trainers wouldn't let him move to prevent any further injury until they could get him to a hospital, which probably made it look worse than it actually was. So, early reports seem encouraging. Hopefully that continues to be the case. I don't think I've ever heard an arena go that quiet for that long. Really scary stuff, especially when his mom was running around the court. - In terms of the game itself, early on, things played out as I feared they would. It seemed like NU was phoning it in a bit early. Rutgers played with better energy and urgency. They made some shots, the fans were nervous. - NU switched to a zone midway through the first half and it really gave Rutgers a lot of fits. I think it led to an 18-3 NU run, IIRC. - Watson was really good today. He just missed out on a double-double but he could have easily had it if a couple of his teammates would have finished at the rim a couple times late. Had a couple shots rim out, too. After a little bit of a sloppy start, he played really well. - Morrow and White were in double-double range, too. Ed played well, which was good to see considering how we'd heard about his feet hurting him. Hopefully he can keep playing through it. - Jacobson keeps putting in yeoman's work. He's a better shooter than people realize and he keeps doing a lot of dirty work in the paint. He's still going to get outmanned against bigger teams, but not sure we have a ton of those left other than Purdue at the end. Maybe Northwestern. - Interesting to see Evelyn and Fuller get minutes today. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or rhythm to when they get minutes. Maybe there is. IDK. - Andrew White had a monster game. 21 points, 8 boards. He was really good today. - Thought the halftime honoring of the 90-91 team was pretty underwhelming. If you're going to celebrate the best team in school history, a video tribute would have been appropriate, I think. We really didn't see much about that team. It would have been cool to relive that season a little more. - Expecting NU to play as well as they did in Piscataway was probably a little lofty, I think all things considered, they played ok. I think they learned you can't assume anything at this level and got it turned around before it was too late and did what they were supposed to do vs. a team like Rutgers. Going forward, who knows what to expect, especially if Shields can't go.

Sounds like he's been dealing with some foot ailments. Plantar fasciitis, I believe. -
This is Why I Don't Like Adidas...

I mean, I'd kinda like to see NU go the full Oregon route for basketball. 31 games. 31 uniforms. -
Oh, man, I always love the BTP recaps. NU's NIT hopes aren't fading in the slightest. They're right where they were three weeks ago.
-
They wore these vs. Iowa last year. Looked great, played not so much. Only throwback I recall from last year.

- Purdue wasted no time trying to get the ball inside. Some full court pressure, too. Does PU typically do that? - Brought extra help down low early. - Jacobson missed a couple jumpers, need him to hit those a bit more. - 6 fouls before the first media? No bueno. - Thought we might see some Hammond today. But 2 really quick fouls, goodness... - Parker's really become a pretty good player. I like seeing that hard work pay off. - AW3 hitting shots early, that's good to see. - The pressure works to get a 10 second call. - Haas is a load. - Tai takes one to the beak. Ouch. - There's just not much we can do inside. Wonder if we see some of Borchardt. - Jacobson's just a touch off on his shot. - I don't know why we ever took the press off. - Hammonds can name his scoring line tonight. Just no answer. - That driving shot by McVeigh that fell off the side of the rim, as he gets bigger, stronger and more experienced, that shot will fall. - I like the sweater. Not sure about paring it with the navy slacks, though. - Oof, really tough way to end the half. To be down 9 after battling is really frustrating. Feels like they should be closer than that. - 3rd foul for White right out of the break. Yeesh. - Looked like Watson wanted or thought they were supposed to be pressing, but nobody joined him. - Not really trying to shoot when we get to the rim, just sorta flipping it and hoping it goes in. - Webster and Shields are really, really good in transition. - Purdue is just a different team when Hammons isn't on the floor. - It's no coincidence that our two biggest runs came when Hammons wasn't on the floor. - And now Purdue's starting to hit from deep. That's not good for NU. - Webster's taken a beating today. - With 10 minutes to go in the game, amazingly, NU's been to the line the same amount as Purdue. - NU's better than a Hammons-less Purdue team. Unfortunately, they're not. - NU's staying within striking distance... - Well, maybe not... - Purdue, a 35% team from 3, shot a lot better than that from behind there tonight. - NU had a couple opportunities to make things really interesting and had shots rim out. Purdue had a couple chances to put NU away and hit theirs. - Tough way for Shields to go out. He had a great 2nd half. Purdue really had trouble defending him. - The outcome really isn't a surprise, right? This is what was "supposed" or "expected" to happen. I thought they played hard for the most part but their inexperience showed at times, to go along with their lack of size in the front court. I think NU might have a shot in Lincoln. I like the moxie of this team, but this was almost an impossible matchup and they gave it about as good a shot as could be expected. Another tough matchup awaits on Wednesday.

Well, we kinda are. We have no answer for Hammons and Haas. They're experienced and when you combine that with the obvious physical mismatch and our inexperience, it makes for a tough situation. We haven't been able to take advantage of some other places where we might have some advantages out on the perimeter and in transition. -

Dude's got lottery talent, just doesn't always play like it. Today he is. Doesn't help when there's not anyone within four inches of him in red. -

It looks like Weber St. may have had some communication with him at some point, too, so Beckner may have been involved in that?
