  1. Great talent... good player. Definitely capable of a big step forward
  2. What’s the split on 50-50 balls tonight??
  3. Thanks - that’s the one!
  4. Ya it was a prettt big moment in the game. Conklin had a HUGE game out there in the NIT. I seem to remember Badgett having a pretty big dunk on a breakaway, and I feel like it was a big spot in a big game... but I was pretty young, so I’m not recalling any details.
  5. So definitely not the greatest ever... but Conklin’s tip dunk in Hawaii was pretty cool at the time!
  6. Read this this morning, tried it this afternoon. Two thumbs up!!! Just how hot is the Angry Cow?? The waitress talked me out of it... but I’m curious.
  7. I can agree with this. Hopefully a fun year ahead!
  8. Disagree. Copeland and Palmer will not likely make the NBA. I will obviously pull for them, but it’s unlikely they make the incremental improvements they would need to as year-5 seniors. It’s the most talent we’ve had in 20 years, and I’m hoping for big things! ...But it’s not near the most talent we’ve ever had.
  9. I liked Larry Bird’s. I think it was called Drive.
  10. Fun exercise - thanks Mario.
  11. I was surprised to see people pick Miles to draw up a winning play. It seems like his game-ending plays are often isolations that end up with contested long shots (I certainly know this isn’t always the case). I always considered Collier an outstanding Xs and Os coach (his other deficiencies far too vast for this strength to mean much at NU). I agree with Norm’s answer, though I’d give Collier the slight nod for drawing up a play to get a good look.
  12. Ha! Could be! My dad started taking me to games in the early 90s - though I’d be lying if I said I remember too much of them. I definitely remember Nee’s final years and worked for Collier and Sadler while I attended the university. LOVED Sadler - that man was a class act. When I said “decades,” I was referring to mid-90s.
  13. Things I like about Miles: 1. He’s recruited a higher caliber athlete than we’ve had in decades 2. He’s taken us to a level previous coaches were unable to 3. Great/open personality and very likeable Things I’m not sure about: 1. Is the recruiting/success a result of him or facilities upgrades? I know recruiting is about relationships, but could other coaches recruit here just as well with the facilities? 2. The attrition - while arguably natural - seems unhealthy. When TP left, we said it was because he was 24 and his stock. When WP left, it was because he was a head case. When AWIII left, it was his dad and unreasonable expectations. Last years losses weren’t that big of deal... and we arguable ended up better for it. If Palmer or Copeland leaves, I think I’ll be a little more leery and tired of the excuses. All previous instances can be explained individually, but the trend is concerning (some will say this is happening throughout college basketball... but I don’t hear of a lot of quality players leaving early to go to the D-league). Things don’t like: 1. The lack of offensive sets to get us goood looks when we’re struggling. 2. Non-existent in-bounds plays. 3. Looks we end up getting at the end of games when we NEED a bucket. 4. Player development. GW (arguably his best recruit) has arguably gotten worse over the last 1.5 years. In all, I like Miles and it would be foolish to fire him, but my gut tells me he is not the coach to get us to the NEXT level (consistently in the top half of the B1G). If he’s going to be, I think he needs better coaches on his bench (offensive mind and player development).
  14. I’d take Michigan in 2OT
  15. Do you feel another win versus Michigan does the trick?
  16. Man if that happens... I don’t know where we’re at in the recruiting cycle, but I’d be bringing everyone in I could (basketball, football, whatever). That’s an atmosphere they won’t see many other places.
  17. I thought it was Tom Best?? Collier’s halftime speeches were nap inducing.
  18. The kind that try to pick up high school chicks??
  19. What if the selection committee used blind resumes?? I’m kind of surprised that hasn’t been suggested... wouldn’t it be the best way to evaluate teams based on their body of work?? Though it would eliminate the eye test...
  20. You don’t think the new arena, practice facility and player’s lounge make a difference in recruiting?
  21. NIT win at Creighton where Nate Johnson made the game winner was a top moment for me. The atmosphere was unreal.
  22. Very polarizing. Recruiting has been great... but is that the coach or the amazing facilities?? (Probably both) I get frustrated with Miles when I see our lack of an inbounds play and lack of an offense that can create shots when we are otherwise stale. He he is definitely likeable and energetic. I generally like his roatayions. I think he needs a very sold X’s & O’s assistant to get to the next level.
  23. I wouldn't call it intellectually dishonest, but perhaps just incomplete, since the two options you posed weren't mutually exclusive. To me, it's like we're trying to say we're better off with Copeland, Palmer and Okeke... but we obviously could've had them plus some (or all) of the others.
  24. Never mind...Dimes' post answered my question.
