If we are going by the letter of the law, Illinois should have 4 travels called against them. That means 1 of these times, they might call it. Never said that those shouldn't have been called. It has just been something I've noticed about Petteway's dribbling all year. They all carry it based on how the rule is written. Why pick on just our guy? And yes the one called was an easy one. It isn't picking on him when it looks like he is carrying almost every time he dribbles.

What an odd end to the half. In a decent position. Hopefully the crowd will get into the second half.

It is a stupid argument to run him off anyway unless you have a 4 or 5 star replacing him. One of the big problems with Doc's teams was having no player consistency. It seemed like we had 6 or 7 new guys a season. With that came no team chemistry and ending up with lesser players than those that had been replaced. If Miles wants to have this program great he needs guys that have been around to show the new guys his expectations. He certainly shouldn't have to spend a lot of time going over his expectations when veteran players are already leading the new guys. Even the guys on the bench have a role. Look over there after big plays and timeouts. Those guys are the first to get the guys on the court fired up. Also we probably don't want to have to fill 4 or 5 scholarships. At least not until we can get that many quality recruits committed. It seems Miles would have a better shot at better players with the less he has to fill. That means he doesn't necessarily have to just settle on a guy.

This game feels like the season. The one that you must have if you want a chance. A win and the Huskers are at 5-6 with a remaining favorable schedule. I still remember 2006 Texas Tech. That was the one we needed to setup for a strong chance at the NCAA tournment. With a win we would have been 7-5 in conference. Then there was that A&M game in 2009. With a win 7-6. Then 2011 Kansas State. With a win 7-6. All were home games...

That is what I'm thinking.

The Big 10 probably gets 5 teams in the NCAA. Possibly 6 but the zero separation in conference won't help. Have to beat Illinois at home. That game is more important than @Michigan State. A loss to Illinois does a lot more damage than @Michigan State. What I've been looking for was splitting the four after Indiana. Specifically winning @Northwestern and the Illinois home game. So far so good. 5-7 entering the last week of February with two very winnable home games would be a great spot for the team. Protect home court the rest of the way and the Huskers finish .500 in conference.
