Might as well get Vooch some minutes to see if he can help. Get him ready for Big 10 play.

I think he probably can provide a few minutes a half but he is still a relatively young player. As a big man it takes longer to be ready to play if you aren't an elite athlete. Give Miles a couple more years with him and who knows. He looks bigger and better this year. Maybe he will start seeing the court more later in the year. The next few games will provide enough opportunities for minutes. A lot depends on matchups and how Miles wants to play. I think he is earning his scholarship. Not everyone on scholarship will be getting game minutes. So...How is he practicing? Is he buying into the coaching? Is he improving to the staff's expectations? We also get a 7 footer in practice which is pretty valuable. You probably want guys like this around to build a program. A bunch of new faces is hard for a basketball program that isn't getting a bunch of 5 stars.

At least Doc didn't get the chance to ruin him. Shields looks better and more athletic this year, along with everyone else. The team must be on a better program.

I figured we would blow them out; up 30 was a little more than I expected. The team looks athletic enough to compete in the middle of the Big 10. I'm so happy Miles didn't run off Benny Parker like a few guys on here wanted. Keeping consistency on the roster will continue to be important. The arena sort of looked strange on TV. I think it was mainly the wall that had nothing on it. Seems it should at least have a box score. I like the new reffing. It actually forces guys to play defense. It still will take awhile for players to adjust but at least it won't look like NBA 2000 anymore. Wouldn't mind seeing defensive 3 seconds. Certainly want to see the shot clock down to 24 seconds along with 8 seconds to cross half court.

If Tim Miles isn't winning games next year the positivity may be gone. Really, this year probably gets long for some of the new ticket holders.

And I assume you are correct in that the NBA was trying to protect its own product, rather than hoping to make the college game better (having the kids stay only one year doesn't really help the college game that much...I think another year or two would do that, but the NBA doesn't care, methinks...this is the point I think Dean was trying to make). 7 of 8 from 2004 are still playing. 8 of 9 from 2005 are still playing.

It currently takes teams around 10 seconds to get into their offense. 24 seconds. I would also like the NCAA to adopt a couple other FIBA rules specifically being on timeouts and balls on the rim.

I like that design. The red outline seems to make the state 'pop' a little more.
