  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Nothing gets to me like football talk on this board.
  2. I voted to retain, even though he doesn't deserve to return, based on merit. It seems more damaging to the program to fire somebody who the majority of fans want to give one more year. He's getting 75%+ backing here, and we're supposed to be the hard-core fans. Imagine the percentage is even higher for the people who are less rabid. We're still arguing about Tim Miles 4 years later, and I don't want to have to listen to that with Fred if the next guy fails. Might be a stupid reason to keep Fred, but that's mine. In my free time, I'm a weather vane.
  3. I heard Saint Thomas had left the team for mental health reasons.
  4. 40 days, so like Lent. I'm not ready to give up basketball ... yet.
  5. So do the evil ones. https://twitter.com/MPattersonOWH/status/1618063923306962950?cxt=HHwWjICxyZekwvQsAAAA
  6. Facts for your consideration: Fred is 34-78 overall and 12-57 in the Big Ten. Your emotions and your gut also are worthy of consideration.
  7. Pardon my language, but ...
  8. According to https://www.barttorvik.com/team.php?team=Wisconsin&year=2023 he's 3rd on Wisky in usage, behind big men Tyler Wahl and Crowl. Plus, the usage numbers are really low for about 8 of the guys on their roster who basically just keep the ball moving on offense. Chucky does take some poor shots, but he's as close as they have to someone who's a "creator."
  9. What heaven brought you and meCannot be forgotten
  10. Getting upset over a down vote is incredibly lame. Like being back in middle school. Go ahead and down vote me, I'd like to set a record.
  11. SBNation headline on the KSU-KU game: Johnson Comes Up Big, Dick Shrivels Late I don't write 'em, folks, I just pass 'em along.
  12. If this trend continues .... I'd put Leon Rice of Boise State on the list. He's won 20 games (going to count this year) 9 of the last 11 years and won 19 another. Only one losing season during that period. Boise is not a good basketball job, and he's made the most of it. P5 assistants are a crap shoot. For every Jerome Tang, there are dozens of flops. I'd also avoid a guy who gets hot this year and wins a game in the NCAA tournament. I would instead go with a head coach who has a record of sustained success, even if it's at a mid-major. I was really high on the Steve Pikiell hire because he had been a consistent winner at Stony Brook. Gregg Marshall did the same thing for years at Winthrop and was fabulous at Wichita until ... There might be other guys like Rice, but I just noticed they were doing well again this year and thought, "damn, that guy can coach."
  13. Great, they'll be well rested for us.
  14. I love these. The coaches are aware of the camera and mike most of the time, but not all of the time and you get a good look inside college basketball. OSU and Minny did it last week.
  15. I didn't think we had the talent to make the tournament but might make it to .500 if we followed through on the promises of tougher, team play. But I'd say my expectations have been passed, regardless of record, by having beaten Creighton and being more competitive with top teams.
  16. He's got a pretty sweet life in San Diego, but BIG $$$ might sway him. He's 63.
  17. A time out to point out in regard to the "well, she him first and he defended himself" argument: Strangulation/suffocation is not pushing away/knocking down/hitting in self-defense. That's why some people have a problem with him as a coach. OK, you can resume.
  18. And they took us to overtime, so they must be good!
  19. Oi, I hope that isn't for the way we come out for the second half!
  20. Kentucky fans would pay his salary here if he left. Good budget move for us.
  21. Fewer 3s shot = fewer 3s missed. Seriously, I'd prefer that we limit our 3-pt shots. We're just not good at it. We should leave the sniping to message boards.
  22. Blows my mind that Oklahoma (37 in KenPom) is the bottom feeder in the Big 12. Every team in the league would be in the tournament if bids went out today.
