uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 20 - @ Northwestern

Why? Have a little adversity and just transfer? That will solve it all? And the next time he has a little adversity? Personally, I prefer Tai's approach. -
uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 20 - @ Northwestern

Coach threw Lewis under the bus on the post-game show for the zone; claimed Lewis talked him into starting out in that. Hard to tell how serious he was. -
On the other hand, Horne makes a mental error within seconds of checking in virtually every time. Not occasionally, but constantly. It's one thing to let a kid play through an occasional mistake of that type. But this is ridiculous. Jeriah needs to accept responsibility and improve his mental function in practice and while he is on the bench. Be ready to go. Improve the details and parts of the game other than shooting, and the minutes will come. Accept that the coach isn't trying to keep you down, but make you better.

HHCC Game #20 - at Northwestern (Jan. 26, 7:00 PM CST)

Just a philosophical difference. These are college players, not pro. ADs and many coaches are making millions and are full blown adults. Name calling isn't really necessary for college kids in my book. Saying "fat!!!" might make the poster feel better but that doesn't make it right. Playing for a scholarship only probably doesn't call for that level of abuse. It's over the top and out of line, IMO. I don't mean that college players shouldn't be free from any criticism whatsoever (so and so can't shoot the 3, etc.), but crossing the line into that much of a personal insult serves no purpose at all, other than saying something about the poster. I myself was critical of Jess's public comments about Romeo last year. That's different than calling her names about physical appearance. But, carry on if Dimes doesn't shut it down when people say stuff like the brave Kearney Man. He gets to help parent and coach, since he won't tolerate spoiled brats apparently. Perhaps he can post pictures of his kids to see how perfectly proportioned they are. (And i realize, Kearney Man is a troll and I am giving his ridiculous posts too much attention; anyone with an almost 1 for 1 post to down arrow ratio is clearly a troll--I just wanted to make a point on that level of line crossing).

Well, since you didn't learn from the free lesson on manners, allow me to not sugarcoat it either: anonymous message board posters, who have not ever come remotely close to accomplishing as much as our players and who purport to be fans of teams and then call out our players in personal, venomous name-calling fashion, are losers. Take the name calling and personal insults elsewhere, that's not what we do here. That's someone's daughter, sister and granddaughter, and you blurt it out in cowardly fashion under a fake name, and then want credit for your candor and lack of sugar coating. Such a big man, u don't want to spoil players so you call them something on a message board you never would in person, while you hide behind your keyboard. Tell you what, the family is easy to spot at games. Just march up to them and tell them you don't want to treat Jess like a spoiled brat, so you're going to do them all a favor and call her "fat!" See how that goes down.

I think that whoever stole your keyboard meant to say this:. "It appears that a couple of players are struggling with conditioning, which is disappointing given the resources we have in strength and conditioning and nutrition. A lot of coaches have said 'great players are made in the offseason.' It looks like not much work was put in over the offseason by these players, and it is limiting their performance during the season. Hopefully everyone will learn from this and our conditioning will dramatically improve in the offseason. "

Well in that case then the smile comment was weird.

Yeah, I'm sure there's no joy in Mudville averaging 31 minutes a game, shooting 40% on 3s, for an 18-2 team ranked 7th and 8th in the national polls, vs. playing on a 5-13 team with a player who publicly tells you to "go ahead and transfer".

I don't mean to dwell on the negative, but I would say the "headache" has been for way longer than 17 years. I've been a serious fan for over 50 years. In that time we have won zero regular season conference titles, one conference tournament title (after which we lost to Penn in the first round of the NCAAs 4 days later), and ZERO NCAA tournament games. The glorious meaningful victories have been few, and the painful dagger to the heart losses have been many. It's true that the last 17 years have been worse from the standpoint of having more lower half of the conference, sub-.500 seasons than the previous 35 years, but getting over the hump and really making some noise has been missing forever. And yet here we are. So yeah, I'll commiserate with ya'all.

I choose to go 3-0 and 0-3, as i believe Ed was severely limited during the NW game, although he was on the court. But it wan't "Ed" out there....

Line ranges from -1 to + 1. Vegas doesn't like us without Ed. Not sure my heart can take a nail-biter tonight. Let's get a comfortable win.

I have to agree with them with regard to Jacobson's hair.

And eerily similar to Watson's injury in that Hoppen actually came back into the game. It was at Colorado. He tried to post a guy up, leg gave out, and it was over.

This Was The Season That Was! MBB - 2016/2017

Actually, Norm, on some other threads, there was all kinds of talk about next year. So much that I thought it was strange and almost posted something. With most of the league season still to be played, we were discussing next year's starting lineup. In early January. -
That doesn't sound good. The curse continues.....

Yes, and the best coaches walk this line well. Some not so well, but I still generally will go with the coach over message board fans who react strongly after a loss on the use of playing time and substitutions to get the most out of the guys. Think of all the hand-wringing on here about not starting Glynn for a game and a half. A major capital offense. Yeah, just ruined the guy, all he's done since is play fantastic and get the praise of coaches throughout the league. -

From what I can tell the problem isn't just poor defense generally, or just the issues caused by a lack of athleticism or quicks. It's blatant mental errors on things that have been practiced or discussed during a timeout, such as how we are handling screens, how we are handling certain offensive sets, etc. It isn't only Horne, but reading between the lines and watching, it seems he is struggling the most. Others have had their time limited as well for the more egregious type of defensive lapse. Coach can't be too descriptive publicly as to the nature of the defensive error, but I'm pretty comfortable Joe Average Fan may not know the extent of it. Easy to rant as a fan about "play this guy", but a coach only has so many ways to get through to guys as to expectations and ways to get improvement in the mental aspect. Playing time has to be one of those ways. -
We do have great fans......despite what our administration did to us.

Great news, and thanks for the update, Cip.

I am on the "I like Mike" bandwagon, but I thought Saturday was one of his worst games. And not only the hesitation, which I get a little being among the trees, but the dribbling.....please stop; that's been scouted. -
