  1. True story: my kid and a couple of his knucklehead buddies drive to Bloomington for the game. Check into their hotel. Go to their room, which just happens to be right next to Tim Miles' room. So he chats them up; gives his approval of their plan to give Crean the business during the game. Except they are in the rafters. No oxygen up there. They see coach on the court after the game and they have a big celebration. Got great pics with coach and Roby. Loyalty rewarded for the lad; great night.
  2. If we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any at all. Just one shot after another. And still I come back for more.....
  3. A lot of the subbing out for defense hasn't been about avoiding mismatches, or if someone generally is an average defender. It has mainly been due to very specific, glaring mistakes. Often on plays that had been practiced against, and the mistake showed the light bulb going on. It's easy for fans to say "well just focus more on offense", but for a coach it's a little bit tougher. When a guy keeps making mental errors it shows he's not ready. And playing time can be the only way to get players' attention. All coaches would agree you have to let guys play through mistakes and you can't pull them after every one, but if a guy keeps making the same mistakes, it's hard to keep him on the floor.
  4. You are a good person, Jimmy. My sentiments are not yet where yours are with regard to AWIII and his papa. Despite the holiday season, I'm not nearly good enough to get there yet.
  5. At one point in the second half we had 0 fouls to 8 for Southern.......and we were down 2. Crazy.
  6. I like Jordy and see the potential. Liked his game up close at KU. But he does have two glaring deficiencies: Very poor hands, and a right hand that is essentially a useless appendage. Would hope he can develop at least a passable right hand some day, and moves to his right. 500 reps a day in the offseason. The hands things tends to stick, barring a hand transplant. Still, a lot to like about the young man.
  7. Oh, man, did Andre pull a Caitlin Jenner? I missed that.....
  8. Go ahead and measure by our misses if you like. We had one helluva lot of hits that I will remember. Was great watching them play. We won a ton with those hits; more than any time in men's or women's basketball history in Nebraska. We'll see where we're at in a few years, but right it is painful, despite all the "fun" predicted by some in advance of the season.
  9. You are raising that young guy right. It takes toughness to be a Husker hoops fan. Bad weather and fortitude through tough times. It will help him immensely in life and kudos to the parents!
  10. Yep, just another big mistake by that bad Yori. Wonder how she ever won a game here? I guess we'll see where we're at in 3-4 years by comparison. And, as for ratings, stars and ratings aren't always right, but Cayton and Doyle have looked pretty good so far (As has Eilely.) Did Jensen sign in the spring?
  11. The situation with Miles is completely different. Before he showed up we finished dead last in the conference two of the last 3 years. We hadn't made the tournament in 15 years. It was a basement dwelling program. Success was going to be something new. In women's hoops, we were a perennial top 25 program, with 2 sweet 16s, multiple post season berths, and conference titles. While the quality of basketball getting played here now in women's hoops may or may not be reason to "get panicky", a conscious choice by the AD to blow up a strong program, and make it into what is happening on the court now, should involve some accountability. Patience is understandable when you take a last place team and have to start from scratch. It's less easy to take when you choose to take a strong program and blow it up. And what makes you think there are 3 high level players still out there for 2017? You may luck into an available player who slipped through the cracks or emerged late, but not 3. Optimism is one thing, delusional thinking is another.
  12. Sam, since you're the beat writer for women's hoops for the OWH, I'm sure you'll have some comments on this statement by the lead sports columnist for the World Herald: "But his (Eichorst's) women's basketball hire looked rushed and uninspired". Thoughts?
  13. I would take Daum over all but Patton, and possibly Thomas.
  14. yeah, and that was after totally ruining his confidence, not to mention hurting his feelings!
  15. Yeah, he sat him all of 8 minutes.
  16. Bequest, request, what the hell. It's been a rough month for Husker athletics!
  17. Interesting, Norm. And this truly did come at someone's bequest; not any agenda from me. It is interesting that our bigs have so many turnovers. Often a team that turns it over a lot would have high numbers of turnovers from the guards. This team's bigs turn it over a lot.
  18. I have a friend who is very close to the program but who can't post on here. He has followed the recent discussions on here, and has asked someone to look into the following player statistics: 1. Assist to turnover ratios; 2. Turnovers per minutes played; 3. Rebounds per minutes played; 4. Field goal percentages; 5. Shot attempts per minutes played. I assume the numbers will shed some light on production/non-production of players getting minutes, in perhaps a surprising fashion. But I don't know that. Don't have time today to comb those stats, but throw it out there upon request! Have at it, women's hoops fans!
  19. Watson played 32 minutes. Taylor played 11. Me thinks too much is being made of the starting lineup decision. And also some crazy speculation that the team will melt down over a starting lineup decision for one game. We have a lot of issues, and it all may end poorly. But our guys are a helluva lot tougher than the suggestion that they'll all just fall apart because coach didn't start a guy who played 32 minutes.
  20. Once again, don't say "sorry", when you're not. You're not remotely sorry, so don't bother saying it or being a phony. So say this all goes south.....and it isn't looking good right now.....be sure to be disrespectful out the door. Say "Timmy" as often as possible. I'm sure if we don't recruit good enough players, or coach well enough, or overcome primadonnas and their dads, it couldn't be a good effort that didn't work out. It's always good to resort to name calling at such times. Were you one of the guys who called Doc "Kenneth"?
  21. If any left it wasn't many. They were into it the whole game. Still whining about every call. Decent number of Husker fans at the game.
  22. Not too hot, Jimmy. One helluva atmosphere.
