I think you're right, it's hard against any D1 team to sweep 4. That's why it's too bad we got off to such a poor start. We are just such an anemic offensive team, and it doesn't seem like it's just a case of some guys not hitting who will get hot. It's just who we are. Nothing to hang our hat on. No power, no speed, not consistent at small ball. If Luensemann can get it together we're pretty good on the mound. But man, do we do suck offensively.

yes, I meant sweeping the remaining 3 games.

Against 7-13 Cal Poly, we might want to win 3 out of 3. Still digging out of a hole.

Hmmm, his comments on the previous coach not recruiting Class A talent in the state is off base. Vonnie Turner and Dominique Kelly among others would disagree. Plus, would he want us to not have Emily Cady start over 100 games because she was Class B? Or that Chartrice White wouldn't have helped since she played at Shelby? And, of course, a WNBA player in Hooper, who was a dreaded Class B player! Sure, we have missed some (Kastaneks and KK Houser as examples), but we had a lot of instate players over the years contribute significantly, way more than with the men's program.

No longer the case; Smith staying at SDU. Premature Tweet. Don't know if one can get a prescription for that....

Craig Smith goes from S.D. to Drake, and now back to S.D.*

Many people forget that Moe Iba was also an assistant at Drake for a year after he left Lincoln, and before he got the TCU job. Anyway, Smith has now decided to stay at SDU. -
Jimmy, quit humping my leg!

I wouldn't dump on them if I didn't have to employ them!

A lot of interesting thoughts in this, and probably right about a lot. As to Horne, you have focused on his physical abilities. Obviously he has only average athleticism, and that will impact his defense. But as to playing time, I believe it was limited as much by the mental lapses (I have no way of knowing the "effort" component from practice other than the public comments of Miles and Horne) as his lack of quicks. Being a little slow to guard on the perimeter is one thing, but not knowing what defense we are in or whether we are switching screens is another. And I am sympathetic with a coach who catches hell from parents and fans when those things go on and are pretty glaring. You have to sub out a guy who comes in a game not ready to play mentally. And back in the days before instant gratification, averaging double digit minutes as a freshman was a positive thing, not a negative. It's not like he never got to play. As for roster planning, that's hard to do here. You end up signing the best guys you can get. It's hard to turn someone down from a "planning" standpoint or how deep we are relatively at a position. If it's a talent upgrade (from the dregs of the non-transfers we were getting the first couple of years), you take him. Bottom line is we have a long way to go with recruiting and player development. I'm not sure what the best course is--more patience with the current regime or make a change. But if you're going to go with the "more time" approach, you better support the guy, and not have it be like the one year delay in firing Bo. I'll be interested in hearing what SE has to say after the final four or whenever his self-imposed no-comment period is over.

Check out the recruiting forum; I bumped a post from last August on interactions with Chubick Sr. The poster is not part of the Omaha media scene. While the poster and I disagree on some stuff having to do with the athletic department, I believe the poster to be reliable, and has access to multiple inside sources. Anyway, that post sets forth a version of "what went down with this" different from the Omahans.

Actually, Arop and his coach burned bridges with us, for anyone who knows what really went down there. And I doubt it ends up being a "bummer", unless he has Justin Patton like development. Which happens like almost never.

Last Radio Show for Coach Miles for the 2016-17 Season

"Again". Or, "Aggiiinn". I always chuckled when Doc addressed a topic for the first time, and started with "Aggiiinn".... -
2019 PG Jeremiah Francis -> North Carolina
HB replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Actually, Jimmy, we lost in Collier's first year to Western Carolina in the first round. One of the worst efforts I have ever seen out of a Husker team. -
Thanks, Fever. Your efforts are appreciated. You made it interesting in addition to ministerial! Well done.

NU 71 UM 68 4 in the turnover free zone -
Media (in private conversations) at spring practice today thought otherwise. They don't know everything, but often where there is smoke there is fire.

Very true, Jimmy. And another lens into Eichorst's views. Miles is not his kind of guy. He could survive that winning, I suspect. But now it makes it easy for SE to do what he wanted to do anyway. Looking back, it was basically over when AW III transferred and SE didn't extend Miles' contract. Then Gill and Ed went down, and the fat lady sang.

Omits James Moore and Mike Martz , but it wouldn't have surprised me if they weren't in the club ( I really believe Dana Janssen was better than both of them).

Whether the article is a cause or not I don't know. But ever since it came out we have played very poorly. Like the players' coach is about to be fired and they know it.
