Kind of a "Mr. Obvious" moment. We just lost our top recruiter and longest-serving assistant. Still no word from the AD on Miles' contract. Not exactly a good environment for recruiting top transfers.

Devaney was pretty damn good as an AD. Hired a lot of really good coaches., and one who is in GOAT discussions. The job eventually morphed to require bean-counting, human resources, and all sorts of administrative stuff, but the Bobfather had a bunch of people skills and good instincts. He served us well for many a year.

Have to disagree, with position players. Sure, you can't lose 5 arms and not have it affect pitching success. We would have several more wins but for the rash of injuries. But with position players, we are not talented top to bottom. We have perhaps 3 "dudes". We have some average guys. And every game we are putting a couple of guys out there who don't belong. This is one of the poorest defensive teams I have seen. We can't field a bunt, for crying out loud. Some of it could be confidence, but so to poor recruiting, we are playing defensive liabilities each and every game. Huge numbers of strike outs. Nothing to go to--little power, little speed, poor bunting team. No, this isn't a very talented team, top to bottom. It goes way deeper than confidence.

These advance articles are typically worthless. They just go on the prior year. They also have no clue what newly-eligible transfers and newcomers bring to the table (thus not discerning the difference between Davis and Johnson and likely getting it dead wrong). Thus, we were going to finish 13th last year, and last in 2013-14. Now 3rd next year, which is too high. I would have loved to see a preview article last year say "Despite finishing at 6-12 in the league last year, Nebraska has an influx of talent this year and has a good chance to finish in the upper half of the league". But to my knowledge there were no such articles. Just predictions to finish 13th.

I just threw up a lot. Because I'm sick and tired of officials deciding games. The MSU player got body slammed after the ND turnover with 4 seconds left. Not a judgment call, and the ref swallowed his/her whistle and cost MSU a natty. Yeah', they could have made the layup. But u HAVE to make that call. I suspect the ref thought there was less time on the clock and didn't want to make the call at half court. And the announcers didn't have the guts to call out the injustice. Just a pathetic disgrace once again by the stripes
