Can't believe Dave Blackwell hasn't been mentioned. Did Husker hoops for KFAB in the 60s.

Or perhaps with some program momentum we feel like we can get in on some even better players. Just free-wheeling as I have no clue on recruiting

Recruiting Kate to me was a big turning point in the program. We didn't have much coming back in the post, and I thought it was strange we didn't seem to be bringing in even serviceable bigs during the spring signing period. I remember when another poster told me we had a big visiting really late, and I was elated (and posted vaguely about it at the time). Well, the rest is history, and we obviously got way more than a serviceable big. We got a difference maker. Which really accelerated the program recovery period IMHO. A major development in Husker hoops history which I don't think can be overstated.

Same. Cip should be getting commissions.

I have donated for years to the "Newspaper in Education Fund" at the Journal Star. This puts newspapers in school libraries across the state. To me that is important. I'm sure it will morph into providing digital content in schools.

I have been a newspaper addict since I went to kindergarten. Some of my earliest memories are being at the breakfast table and seeing dad read the paper and not converse much (I chuckle when I hear people talk about their kids paying attention to nothing but their phone or Ipad; we just changed the way we tune out others). At my age I've seen a lot of days, and there haven't been many which I haven't started by reading the morning paper. The newsprint model. Unlike some of the others on here, I will really miss the traditional newspaper. I'm not much for change anyway, and this one is going to hurt. I realize many can't understand why it would matter whether one gets content on a screen or with newsprint in hand, but to me, there's just something about the traditional newspaper. Oh well, like with most things, the world will go on, and no one will care that one cranky old holdout still wants his morning newspaper in hand.

Why we're all here.....

Very special night for the Seniors. They have all handled adversity and stuck with it. They have earned our respect and appreciation.

Best hope is that when Eddins and Engelken come back they come back strong. We are going to have a heckuva time finding any one to get outs in the midweek games.

Two Questions (1 X's and O's, 1 Personnel Decisions)
HB replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Wow, Jones, you have watched a different Duby than I have. While he makes some spectacular blocks, play in and play out he doesn't defend well at all. He's a vertical guy who can't move laterally well at all. He's a foul every 30 second guy that get's the opponent in the double bonus before you can say "Tom Eades". Not that Jordy is skilled, but offensively Duby is incredibly limited. And in a close game late, you can't have him on the floor as free throws are a huge challenge. At some point he will have to play some limited minutes to try to guard bigs and administer some hacks, but to me it seems obvious why the minutes are limited with Roby's development and dramatically increased minutes. -
No it has to be a thing people talk about for days or the old folks won't stand. Young guys behind me last night wouldn't stand for crap. I stood a bunch nonetheless. Was waiting to hear "sit down, old man!"

Devastating loss. We are short quality arms. This one will hurt.

As long as we're talking about expectations, despite it being a recruiting thread, one player in particular who has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds is Cincore. I had no idea she would play as well as she has being a 30 minute plus player. Kudos to Jasmine, and 3 lashes to me for thinking it wouldn't happen.

Hope Wilkening can stay hot. Need someone who can protect Schneider, or he'll lead the league in walks

And Jordy didn't' touch anyone on the over the back call. But for the game, I thought we got a decent road whistle. -
A good post as far as fans. I'm curious to see how the players respond. Does the air come out of the balloon, or do we fight back. Will be interesting to see. Could go either way.

Not sure it would be laying an egg. IU could be better than us. Today was laying an egg, losing to an inferior team.
