  1. Why is this a Bethea and Tuttle problem? If a coach has done them or the athletes wrong they have a obligation to speak up. I would love to see many of you fill the shoes of these two ladies for an entire year, or better than that, the entire length of time these two ladies have been employed and see if it is an easy job dealing with the health and well being of the student athletes while trying to please the head coach of a team that for the last 5-6 years has been very successful. I know them all. It's not supposed to work this way. We'll just have to disagree on who did who wrong.
  2. That Bethea and Tuttle can take down the most successful basketball coach in Nebraska history--men's and women's--is crazy. We have deep problems in our athletic department. We need to cut the head off of the snake, but I doubt it happens.
  3. We'll see Knutsen Sunday; hope he pounds the zone. Need to get Howell healthy.
  4. Burkamper only pitched 2/3Chestnut only pitched 1/3 Luensmann only pitched 1 I'm sure they are all able to pitch tomorrow if needed. No. Chestnut and Luensemann pitched last night also. I don't think they will pitch 3 days in a row. EDIT: Sorryh Khoock, I posted this before I saw your response about friday night.
  5. Losing Cincore from a basketball standpoint would be nowhere near devastating. I wouldn't put Romeo and Cincore in the same sentence here.
  6. She wasn't dismissed, she resigned. Right. That's why they still paid her nearly 80% of her buyout.
  7. My guess is their are certain current players she wouldn't try to keep. But she would try like hell to keep Romeo. We need that one.
  8. Very interesting read. The statement that the team was not "in sync" late in the season, and a conflict (a conflict with Yori) by one player that's transferring. Did watch the video?Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Yes....watched the video....and you know what...it probably makes a lot of sense. And some of the video conversation may be close to the what really has taken place. Just a guess, but.....Connie may have just burned out, and with the troubling divorce, she could have tuned out a little (maybe not the right phrase)....to some extent. And yes, maybe it simply was time. Time to go separate ways. And Connie could see the hand writing on the wall with the investigation...and just said.... that's enough....I'm gone. Hate to see her go, but maybe it's best for all involved now. It is done. So move on and forward. I've seen more than once in business, where a long time employee just kind of burns out due to work and family problems. They just need to start anew, to refresh and evaluate where their life is going, and what to do next. Will have to watch it a second time....sure does make more sense to the whole thing anyway. Some not so much...but a good listen anyway. I watched it. I have a ton of respect for Sam. I think he is a superb writer and a deep thinker. He is the best football guy I have ever read. But I thought that interview was his worst work ever, and I have read him since he was at the Nebraska State Paper. Just incredibly harsh toward Yori and the accomplishments of the teams on her watch. Very unrealistic about the sport of basketball at UNL. Made it sound like it will be a piece of cake to just hire any 'ol coach now and have her/him be as good or better than Yori. That's not gonna be easy.
  9. it was cold there tonight but not nearly as cold as last friday night. We got some breaks, most notably their shot that hit the baserunner. Rev made a great play at short that might have saved the game.
  10. The ball would have to bounce off someone's foot first. Good terminology, Norm. Bounce off, not kicked.

    Scholarships

Not any more she was put on Scholls when the page girl leftSent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Gotcha. Scholarships are year to year so it's probable that Wood is back off if everyone stays. I would be very surprised if everyone stays. Releases are already in place for a couple players; I don't know if the new coach can persuade them to stay, but there will likely be some attrition. Emily should keep her scholarship. She is an outstanding, selfless leader. With 15 scholarships and and 8-9 player rotation, we definitely have room for someone of her team orientation. Teams need players like her. Devoted, dedicated, loyal, helps the best players improve. Spend 5 minutes with her and you know what a special person she is. Not to mention that she shot 44% from 3 this year!
  12. Eh...let's just swing it on here. A better question is "How does his shot look?" Just read on a Miami board that it looks like there is a hitch in his shot. Well, he should fit in then.
  13. I don't think he was lazy.....
  14. Damn, Norm, what were you doing out at that late hour? You haven't been out in a fun district on a weeknight in like 20 years.
  15. Well, there can be a happy medium. Eventually one has to move on. And staying negative for an eternity never helps. But sometimes toxic stuff needs to be flushed a little. If something out of whack happens, everybody can't, and shouldn't, just snap their fingers and immediately go to "No biggie" territory.
  16. So the guy is never visible or out showing support for our teams but when he does he is sitting over their shoulder? The guy can't win. And for every negative story you guys have heard 3rd hand about Eichorst and the AD I've heard at least 5 positive ones. Those who are negative are the loudest are always the most outspoken. When things are going well you hardly hear a peep. Our fans never cease to disappoint me. Well, Haymarket, it's equally disappointing to me that most fans can only approach Eichorst through a Pelini lens. If they didn't like Pelini and wanted him gone, Eichorst can do no wrong. If they were loyal Bo backers to the end, Eichorst can do no right. I have met the man several times and have seen him in action. I know many people in the athletic department and have some insight into the culture there and how things are run, and certain things that have happened. I wish people could understand that there is a lot more to it than whether and how he fired Bo. I have yet to find a Pelini hater acknowledge that Eichorst has ever made a mistake in his life. Now, let's carry this discussion further in a Haymarket drinking establishment.
  17. Just to clarify: Bethea hasn't yet filed a lawsuit, although I suspect one is coming eventually. At this point, she has filed an administrative EEOC Complaint.
  18. Engelken. Good stuff, struggles with command You could say that about all of our pitchers. He has better stuff than many, and less command than many.
  19. Engelken. Good stuff, struggles with command
  20. Tough situation for returning players as well. That will also be very interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully we can get a reasonably quick hire who can earn the trust of the players and recruits. But part of that might depend on the systems the coach plans to install.
  21. We haven't really had reliable weekend starters either. Waldron and McSteen have done very well for freshmen, but we don't have that friday night gorilla which allows you to save your pen in a weekend series. And now Howell has a shoulder problem, and Burkamper's back is an issue. We will have to have numerous young pitchers step up to provide the pitching depth for a postseason run. We can't drop too many more low RPI games and get in the tournament without the automatic bid.
  22. Welcome, and thanks for sharing your thoughts. We look forward to watching Nicea play ball. It's been a rough couple of weeks around here. Most of us are reeling a bit. But during the rough times it's important to remember what is still solid: A great state, with the most wonderful people. A great University. A remarkable and loyal fan base. A great city, and outstanding facilities in which to play. Here's to hoping we hire a great coach to carry on a proud tradition of women's basketball here at NU.
  23. Flannery isn't remotely up to this job. He's had a very mediocre tenure at Crayton. He's had plenty of time. We should aspire to much more.
  24. Danny Manning and the Miracles lost at the Bob. Was this the game Chubik chase down the break away to block the last shot? Nope
  25. Hey, I went to it! I least you could multi-task....
