Go Yotes. Up in the 4th. Wish I was watching it instead of a hideous baseball game
-
Atmosphere at the game is bad. Team seems flat. Barring a stunning comeback this does not look good at all
-
Bad game tonight. 3 1/2 hours of bad baseball. Cold as hell. Too many walks. Horrible home plate ump. Illinois starter went to the rosin after every other pitch. SLOW. Did I mention it was cold?

That's what she said.

Amy Gusso Williams keeps bringing it. Up big in the WNIT over Oregon. 68-32 after 3. EDIT: 88-54 final. At one point they were 14-19 from 3. One of the Bradleys from Norfolk getting time.

2016 SF Deshawn Corprew -> JUCO -> Texas Tech
HB replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Guaranteed playing time Then why hasn't that been working for us?? -
Nope. Beat 'em like a rented mule. As it should be. For those who went to the game, did anyone wear an Eric Crouch football jersey just for spite? Yep, we did do that. No Crouch jerseys this time, but everyone was preoccupied with Keyshawn and Gebbia sitting in the front row. I was just waiting for a Crayton fan decked out in blue going up and getting our football recruit's autograph. Would have photographed that.

I'm not sure he looked around at other schools all that much, as I believe he committed to being a preferred walk-on for NU pretty early before his senior year. He'd have a shot at UNO I think. He sees the floor well enough that he can create for others. Jump shot would need some work. UNO isn't too interested in playing defense, so no concern there. Just from watching him in high school, he seemed to be at his best in transition, playing a fast-paced game, finding teammates and driving, which UNO wants to do constantly. So I think he'd have a shot to play at UNO. Would need to make the most of the redshirt/transfer year, especially in developing his 3-pt shot. Agree with your comments about transition and a fast paced game. Wesleyan would be perfect for him the way they play.

Keyshawn vacates the house

Good night at the park. Less Blue than I expected. That is always good.

Are you feeling that, Jimmy?

The rumors aren't directly basketball related. They have nothing to do with this year's record; Any discussion of a coaching change based on on the court performance would be absurd. Basketball-wise there is a long history of extraordinary success for this program. We have the freshman player of the year in the league and a highly ranked incoming class. There is nothing there basketball wise to discuss. If the record we had this year (nearly 20 wins and a .500 record in the league; not exactly a disaster) after losing 4 senior starters and then half the team to injury has people calling it a tough year creating a rumor mill, our fan base has become spoiled beyond belief. I don't know whether any rumors flying around are true, but I assure you if something happens it will have nothing to do with the past season, on the court performance in games, or recruiting.

King has been in the sophomore slump. Very disappointing so far. I agree on Jake. He's a gamer plus he would get the Creighton thing. Max has good stuff but you are correct, he struggles mightily with control.. Hopefully tuesday night is when he gets it figured out.

What if the banquet was to be canceled? Well, then I would expect some announcements about the same time, banquet or not. It will be an interesting 10 days.
-
Creighton is better than they have been. We have beaten them like a bad child for years. It may be tougher this year. Love to beat them so give 'em hell tomorrow night.
-
Typically comes out just prior to our postseason banquet, which is April 7. Stay tuned, I'd say....

He was still at Tulsa, but the conclusion is the same.

Here are a couple reasons to try to learn from the past: 1) 63-67 in 4 seasons 2) 27-45 in conference play 3) 0-13 career vs. McDermott 4) 0-4 vs. Creighton Are we satisfied with the decisions we've made in Husker basketball in the past decade? Given the circumstances we faced at the time of Sadler's hire, I would say, "Yes." No doubt you recall that we were trying to fill a vacancy that came up at a very bad time for hiring a coach and that a number of good coaching prospects were approached but declined in part because of that timing and further that Doc Sadler was a fairly "hot" coaching prospect who was eager to come. Did it work out as well as we would have liked? Clearly not. But since you have gained such wisdom from your perusal of the past perhaps you can share why the decision to hire him was not a good one as it was made at the time. Heaven forbid, though, you posit some nonsensical idea like "we should have hired Dana Altman." Why not instead say, "we should have hired Coach K or Bill Self?" I mean, if we are going to play "what if" let's at least play it right. So, I'm thinking he was at least attainable with the right deal in 2007. Well, you're thinking wrong. By that time Dana was established and wasn't going to take a career-killing job like Nebraska. No way is he taking that job. He was going to pick his job, and it wasn't going to be this one. We couldn't hire Self when he was a newbie at Tulsa, and we sure as hell couldn't have hired Altman in '07. Go ahead and throw as much crap around here as you want, but at least have it be remotely realistic. Anyone who has spent 5 minutes with the Altmans know you're pipe dream was never happening. The reality of the world is that money talks. Altman accepted a preliminarily position at Arkansas for 1.5M per year. We are paying over 2M today for not even playing in the NIT. And you don't think we could've gotten a deal done???? It would have been worth a full blown effort and if he turned down a 500K higher bid, then I would happily say "at least we tried". But, we didn't. Too proud to go after the Creighton guy. Yeah, I'm positive we couldn't have gotten a deal done. Your "pride" conspiracy is pathetic.

Ranking Our probable Starting Lineup for Next Year
HB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Man, the line between "gotta be real", pessimism and trolling is so blurry... But you're right he didn't start over Benny. When he started, he started over Tai Webster, the team's third leading scorer, who averaged more than 10 points a game. Watson also initiated the offense most of the time when he was on the floor, regardless of whether Benny was on the floor or not, improved dramatically as a defender over the course of the season. I don't know if he's a top third PG in the Big Ten, but he's not bottom third, I'm confident in saying that. The fact remains that if anyone is considering Watson in top 1/3, he was a bench player at season's end. He did not start over either Benny or Tai, so unless we feel like our lineup was good enough to keep a top 1/3 guy from starting....well, I guess I'll just stick with what the evidence says, not what I hope and dream for. Don't kid us for a second that you "hope and "dream" for good things for NU hoops. And you may want to look past whether someone starts and look at the whole package. -

In the next 8 months, we as fans, need to decide that we're tired of not watching our team in the NCAA Tournament and any step below that is not progress. Brilliant! We've been wasting all of that time trying to recruit better players. Turns out, all we need is for the fans to want it more.

As an employer, I know all about this. I'm not sure morality is the issue, but certain virtues do come into play: Persistence, overcoming adversity, delayed gratification just to name a few. Whether an employer or a coach, there is an investment of time, money, emotion and loyalty. And then they sometimes (and lately it seems often) just leave. Over what should be speed bump to the player or employee but is perceived as a giant wall.

Jennings shocks me. I just don't understand young people, and sometime their parents, anymore.
