Baseball is fun to watch when the staff isn't walking guys. Even Knutsen found the zone today. Ersty/Silva got away with not pitching around Loyola's stud for the 3 run homer. Especially when the double steal opened up first base. We did it the prior at bat. Played with fire here and got blown up. Nice to win with Boldt going 0-5. Ben Miller can just flat out rake.

Pretty sure I got an email. Perhaps it was because of the men's tickets, and the women's order was on there.

Observations from Nebraska State Tournament
HB replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Trust me when I say I have not earned that compliment yet. And your observations are just as worthwhile as mine. What game did you watch? Serious question. Because he had a poor game against Fremont, where his midrange game did fail him. Comparison to Kyle Marks couldn't be any further off, fwiw. He's a 3 at the next level, and his shot will be just fine, fundamentals are there, handles will be fine. Remember he's just a junior, playing on a team that doesn't necessarily (or at all) work through him or get him shots. They pressure and get steals, then just play dribble drive 5 out on offense. Whoever scores, scores, almost exactly like Central a few years ago (sans a big man). Also sat out all of last year. Is he a 5-star? No, not what I'm saying. But I fully believe assuming things go as plan, he can be a very solid player for us. I was at the game against Papio and the game against Fremont. I think he was 2-8 from the line against Papio, and the misses were ugly. Perhaps the fundamentals you see will prevail, but I saw a guy without an outside shot. So I was hoping he can grow into a 4, cause I didn't see a 3 on offense. -

Couldn't disagree more with Jones on Arop. A great stroke? Really? Midrange game? As of now, this guy can't shoot. Or handle it. He's Kyle Marks. Athletic guy who is too small to play the 4, and doesn't have the skills to play the wing. At the highest levels they won't let him get to the rim, so he better develop a shot. A huge project to develop a game to go with the length and athleticism. I'm hoping we're getting past the need to do that here. Having said all of that, Jones has forgotten more about hoops than I'll ever know, but that is really what I saw this week. -
Nebraska will not pursue further postseason play

The biggest implication of the decision to not play in the postseason is that I won't be able to make up ground in the HHC Contest. -

No way we were losing to UNO. If we scored 86 on Maryland, we were scoring 105 on UNO. -
3-0 so far in the series, 5-0 on the home stand. More takin' care of business. Pulling for the sweep tomorrow

I was referring to Arop

Pisses me off. That is all -
Went to the game last night. It was only one game, and I'm far from being a talent scout, but I don't see it. He's long and athletic, but is not skilled and has a bad outside shot. If he would grow and play inside, I could see it. But I don't see him being a wing at the next level. I'm tired of guys who can't put it in the hole. I realize what is tantalizing to the eye with this guy, but I don't see Power 5 wing skill here. A huge project, and I'm not sure we need to go there anymore.

Nope he doesn't know anything about it. This argument is blown way out of proportion. Players, not coaches cause defensive stops. Coaches can try all they want to put players in the best defensive position, but it's up to the players to execute and make adjustments on the fly. I heard a rumor they don't play much D in AAU ball -

I wonder if Molinari had anything to do with our defense tonight? -

Well, I'll give you credit, Skerball. At least you're rocking AAU coaching vs. 5th grade girls coaching. -
Rutgers (7-24) Vs. Nebraska (14-17) Game Thread

Benny's defense on Sanders was huge. Limiting him to 3 of 12 from the floor, one being a ridiculous step back 3 against Tai is pretty good defense. I think Bakeri will be a very nice player for us if he sticks around. Benny is a good role player. He could guard, but has his limitations. Benny was a point guard, and he is a power conference point guard. I don't know if he is a starter on an NCAA tournament team, but he would provide most power 5 teams, with a decent 15-20 minutes a game. It's too obvious sometimes that this fan base knows football and try's to pretend to know basketball. Please name me another power 5 team with a record equal (three games below 500) or better than ours that he would start for. None! He is not a power 5 guard. Not trying to beat the guy down but some people wonder why this program is where it is, and it's because you have mediocre players in the game. My eyes tell me that even in the limited minutes that bakari played this year that he is a better basketball player. Benny played over him due to experience, and I'm guessing in some ways this will come back to bite miles. You say you are not trying to beat the guy down, then proceed to do just that. Not only that, you basically call anybody that agrees that Benny should be playing an unknowledgeable basketball fan. My eyes told me that Benny was the better player than Bakari and it wasn't even close. If Bakari was "that much better than Benny" he would have found his way onto the floor. The only thing you know about Bakari is that he played ok... not great... against scrubs and duds when the game was out of hand. Benny is far from mediocre, but I agree that he is far from great as well.Let's face it though... this was a bash Benny post from the get go. You are telling me that Miles didn't play Bakari even though he was better than Benny the WHOLE year? Not a chance. There is a reason Bakari got limited minutes this year, and that is because he is still a step behind the other guards. Now will Bakari make a bigger impact than Benny before he is done here? He might! That would be great!! But to say that Benny Parker wouldn't sniff minutes at other power conference teams is just not correct. Bash Benny all you want, but don't get fantasy mixed with reality in thinking Bakari was a better option than Benny this year. Fair post in terms of being someone who does not know the inner workings of the team. However, far from correct in several areas. I'll leave it at that. Why leave it at that? Why not enlighten us all as to the inner workings of the team? Where is he far from correct? I'd really appreciate you enlightening the rest of us dumb football-only fans. Not here to stir the pot. Just making informed comments. Do with them what you may. Not here to prove anything, just to add what I know Actually, what you think. There's a difference. -

It's a good thing we didn't kick Tai to the curb last season, or the season before that, or the season before that like some wanted. I will always respect Tai for sticking to it and overcoming adversity. Don't see that so much anymore. -

Oh Good Lord. Do you know the difference between garbage minutes and playing when it matters? -
If we sit Shepherd and Blackburn there won't be a couple of rounds. Hopefully they can go.

Yeah, last year before the wheels came off! Hopefully we'll have the streak only this year and skip the later train wreck
