  1. (throws dishes) shavon already missing 3 fts. (throws more dishes)
  2. and someone shoot these announcers. seriously, 15 and 31 are not exactly identical.
  3. not an ideal start. webster out early. terran playing poorly. we look slow.
  4. Gallegos and Smith are my wild cards for the game. If they do well in addition to our three guards, we have a good chance at taking this one. But needing almost 5 players to be "on" is asking for a lot.
  5. Do people redshirt at Louisville? ha! seriously. I can't imagine Pitino wanting anyone on the books past their natural expiration date. When you can recruit blue chippers every season, player development is pretty optional. I would guess his motto is "contribute or rot".
  6. interesting read over at their board. the mid major inferiority complex is very strange, but I can see how we would take SoS for granted given our conference affiliations. of course, if they only knew how I felt about B1G football..... Both fan bases should appreciate that we have the best first round game and are in a great bracket.
  7. LOL. one of the poeple on that board was seriously concerned about Vooch's size and 3 point shot. "They do have a center who is over 7 feet in sophomore Sergej Vucetic, but he only weighs about 240 pounds, and is known for shooting the 3. " May have mistaken him with Pitchford... but I mean seeing a 7 foot center on another roster is probably cause for concern for another team who doesnt "know" our team. i know. it's just funny to see anyone worried about vucetic they should be worried about serge. if he gets in the game, it means we've won.
  8. Last two suggestions are big. They get into foul trouble and don't like zone, so there's some opportunity before UMass improves in those areas down the road. We have a reasonable chance at pulling an upset, even though I wouldn't pick it that way. But this isn't at all a lost cause matchup. Edit: The more I think about it, and from the limited viewing I've had of UMass, we probably need 18-20 good minutes out of Smith as well.
  9. Please let me be wrong. UMass-71 Huskers-63
  10. control what you can control and don't worry about what others do so much. it's not prison. they can leave if they wish. you can stay if you wish. we have an entire generation of trained "time monkeys"; people for whom a minute "wasted" is a sin next to serial killing. I'm guessing the people who leave are like that. The ones I know that leave games early are. Sitting around when a conclusion is foregone is akin to wasting time, so they move on with their highly structured day. Just be the fan you want to be and be happy with that. Maybe you having fun will persuade some others to stick around and share in that.
  11. it's that time for a bunch of SoS bounces, so I'm taking all this with a grain of salt. After all, th team we demolished on opening night is in the top 25 on two rpi lists, so I'm still hunkering down for the tourney.
  12. happy for brandon. one of my all time favorite huskers.
  13. fans imaginations always run wild on these things. could a been maybe he felt bad and coach was just checking to see if he was good enough to go in the game. I had a few of those in my own childhood.
  14. yeah, I had Biggs as my POTG as well. But I agreed with most of this report card. And, no Dave you're not nuts for harping on free throws. I suspect that we're going to see a lot of shake out for the postseason determined by who shot free's well and who didn't, given the foul emphasis this year. For us to do well in the B1G--given that guard play will be our strength by far--we *must* shoot well from the stripe to compete, because we're going to get eaten alive inside in the conference.
  15. we finished well for a game we didn't take seriously. there's just not much you can get from a game like this, which is why I'm grateful we're cutting down on them. biggs and rey said hello in a good way today. smith is going to be the starting center shortly. to me, this was the first real "meh" game of the year. hopefully this isn't the team that shows up in charleston.
  16. solid finish. love seeing vooch score. and the real test awaits.
  17. yeah, it's different than what we're used to. in the past, so few penetrating guards, and now we're loaded with guys who go to the basket. nice problem to have.
  18. phew. ugly first half. young team = taking the game for granted. hopefully halftime sees a little coach-instigated motivation.
  19. don't know about the apps, although I'm assuming you could check Huskers.com for those, but the digital network is subscription only for live events.
  20. ah, you fell for the ol' 9 am start time trick, eh?
  21. oh boy! a scrimmage!
  22. Hey, baby, that's like top 50 in my book. If the season ended today, we'd be in!
  23. @Norm: I get the point you make, but it depends on your read of their motivation. I only saw the last 9 minutes, and I saw a flat team (acknowledged in the post game presser, and that includes Shavon when he was on the court) and sometimes you'll see a player try to push things by trying to up the energy level by themselves when everyone else is flat footed. That's how I interpreted Terran's play--about half his shots came during that stretch, I think, including an outstanding 3 point play off an offensive board. Chauncey Billups probably informed my view of assists during his first stint with the Pistons: to paraphrase, "if the first shot is good, and the ball goes in, you don't need many assists." Now, if you start seeing Iverson-esque statistics, then I'd be totally on board the concern train. And indeed, you may still wind up being right, but I get the feeling that Miles would have a leash on pretty fast if he thought a player was turning into a destructive ball hog. I really trust this staff about these things more than I have in many years. It makes being a fan much more relaxing.
  24. cbs and real time have us in a two dozen way tie for 51st!
  25. Our offense right now isn't predicated on passing for the sake of it. It's getting the best shot--least resistance, highest odds of going in. So the answer to this question lies in evaluating the shooting percentage of the team. It's above .50. So that makes the answer to the OP, "no".
